The Second and Third Graders See Dog Man: The Musical

Last Thursday, the second and third graders visited Queens
College to enjoy a performance of Dog Man: The Musical. This
production is based on the worldwide best selling series from
famous author, Dav Pilkey. The show was about best friends who
create comics but decide it’s time to level up and write a musical
based on their favorite character, Dog Man, the crime-biting
sensation who is part dog, part man. Those who attended the
show, had a great time and a lot of laughs...even the teachers and
parents!

YCQ Celebrates Chanukah

The week of Chanukah is always an incredible time at YCQ, and this year was no
different. The week kicked off with an awesome concert from YCQ’s very own,
Rabbi Ophie Nat. The fourth and fifth grade students got a visit from Morah
Wonka, also known as Mrs. Beylus, who came to YCQ to make beautiful chocolate
treats with the students. The first through third grades had a special doughnut
making workshop. The fun continued with a puppet show from “Small Wonder
Puppet Theater,” performing the Chanukah story for our nursery through second
grades. YCQ ended this incredible week with the entertainment of Azamra DJ.
We are looking forward to more Chankuah fun with a Dreidle Spin Off and Silent
DJ on Monday!

Fifth Grade Chanukah Math

This week the fifth grade students put their math skills to the test in
honor of Chanukah. Students were given a pretend budget and had to
work within that budget to buy gifts for family, friends and teachers
using circulars and catalogues. This activity required students to use
their skills to add, subtract and estimate decimals. Students got to
choose a charity to which they "donated" their leftover money. A great
time was had by all. Thank you so much to all the parents who sent in
catalogues and circulars.

Preschool Chanukah Presentations

This past Wednesday, the kindergarten classes each performed a
beautiful play in honor of Chanukah. The children spent a lot of time
practicing songs with Morah Karen, making their own costumes, and
learning their parts. Each play was an amazing success! The UPK classes
participated in workshops which included a craft table, a Chanukah game
table, and concluded with a sing-a-long. The parents and families of our
preschool students were so proud and enjoyed their children’s
presentations!
