Second Grade Trip to the Farm

The second graders have begun a social studies unit all about communities. In connection to the study of
rural communities, the students visited the Queens County Farm Museum this past week. The students
participated in a workshop demonstrating how wool is made from sheep. After learning about the process of
sheep shearing, the students enjoyed a fun art activity connected to the lesson. Following the workshop,
students toured the farm and got to meet and learn about many different animals. The second grade had a
great time learning and connecting this trip to their social studies unit.

Second Grade Chumash Presentation

Class 2-205 and 2-206 received their Chumashim on Sunday, December 3, 2017! For months
they had been preparing for this momentous day. They learned about the Chumash, how to
find the Psukim, and how to read and understand them. They enjoyed sharing all that they
do and learn with their parents and families. They put on a beautiful show about the
creation of the world. After a wonderful and exciting presentation, each student received
their very own Chumash with his or her name engraved on it. The class learned the first ten
Psukim together in front of their families and friends, and afterward enjoyed some treats
and a cake. Mazel tov to all the second graders! It is so inspiring to see their love for Torah.
Many thanks to Morah Reut, Morah Idit, Morah Tali, Rabbi Ribalt, Rabbi Hamel, Morah
Maxine, and parent representatives for making this day so memorable!

Chanukah Boutique

On Tuesday and Wednesday the YCQ PTO ran their annual Chanukah Boutique.
The students love to come down with their classes and chose gifts for their family
members. Hours of work go in to ordering, labeling, set up, selling and cleanup.
The PTO Chanukah Boutique Committee would like to thank all of the parent
volunteers, alumni and students, Atara Peretz and Dassie Jaffe who gave their time
to help make the 2017 Chanukah Boutique a success. We could not have done it
without Mrs. Shelly Peretz.
