SPORTS UPDATE

JV Basketball Victory

The YCQ Junior Varsity basketball team had a great season starting with a win against Yeshiva of Flatbush on Wednesday night
December 11th. There was great cheering from our team supporters and great coaching by Justin Schussheim which lead us to our
25-14 victory. Throughout most of the game the team as a whole played excellent defense which led to offense. Congratulations
to Jack Ruben, Danny Gidon, and Yonatan Blitz on scoring their first points on the JV team. There was great defense by Hillel
Golubtchik and Noah Goldstein which led to great offense by Oren Betesh and Joseph Gross. It was a great game all around and
we never stopped trying, hopefully there should be many more wins leading to the championship.

YCQ Hockey Team Win

The YCQ Wildcats Hockey team had a 7-3 win against Yeshiva of Barkai on Thursday, December 12th. Previously in the YCQ
Hockey season our team destroyed Barkai 7-1 in an exciting home game. Sam Krup who leads the team in goals had a hat trick for
the second time this season. Ezra Perlmutter had an incredible game in net only letting 4 goals. There was good coordination be-
tween Jackie Glazer and Coby Casden on offense. Our hockey team has a balanced 2-2 record this season beating Barkai twice.
We’re looking forward to future wins from our Hockey team.

YCQ WILDCATS VARSITY

The boys’ varsity basketball team lost this Wednesday night to Yeshiva Derech Hatorah. In the first quar-
ter we were losing 14-2. But the Wildcats came back to end the second quarter 26-27 Wildcats. In the third
quarter we lost the lead led to poor defense. In the fourth quarter even though we were losing we never
gave up and that is the spirit of a true team. We are looking forward to improving our record and having a
great rest of the season! LET’S GO WILDCATS!!!

YCQ WILD KITTENS

The YCQ “Wild Kittens” are looking forward to a great season with our two amazing coaches Aviva and Daniella.
We took a hard beating to Magen David but it was only “first game jitters”. Now that that’s over, we plan to make a
great comeback against YNJ on Sunday the 22nd, with the help of Diana, Amanda, Michelle, Serena, Elana, Loren,
Yael L, Allison and our two fighting captains Marnie & Tehilla. We hope our classmates come and cheer us on.

2-205 and 2-206 Chumash Presentation

Morah Reut Berkowitz has managed to wow us yet again. Each of the classes, 2-205 and 2-206
finally received their Chumashim this past Sunday! For months they had been preparing for this
momentous day. They learned about the Chumash, how to find the Psukim, and how to read and
understand them. They wanted to share all that they do and learn with their parents and fami-
lies. They put on a beautiful show about the creation of the world. After a wonderful and exciting
show, each student received their very own Chumash engraved with his or her name. The class
learned the first ten Psukim together in front of their families and friends, and afterward en-
joyed some treats and cake. Mazel tov to all the second graders! It is so inspiring to see their
love for Torah!

JHS Visits the MET
The 6th grade girls visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Ancient
Egypt exhibit in conjunction with their ancient civilization curriculum. The
students had a wonderful time participating in a scavenger hunt in the mu-
seum as well. Thank you to Mrs. Howitt for planning such an exciting and
educational trip!

Important Transportation Information

This memo is to inform you that Atlantic Express Bus Company has filed
for bankruptcy protection. Atlantic Express has informed the Office of
Pupil Transportation of the Department of Education, that they will not be
providing transportation for our QUEENS students after tomorrow,
December 20th, 2013. The Department of Education is currently working
very hard to make sure that there will be a new bus company providing our
students transportation beginning on Thursday, January 2nd, 2014. If you
have any questions regarding transportation, please do not hesitate to call
either, 311, or the OPT customer service hotline, 718-392-8855. Parents
should begin regularly checking the OPT website at schools.nyc.gov/
Offices/Transportation/default.htm for updated information regarding bus
service for your children. Please look for the box titled “Operations
Update”.
The City of New York Department of Education is doing everything that
they can to ensure proper transportation for your children and they under-
stand the anxiety and inconvenience that this situation may cause and they
very much appreciate your support.
