Student Orientation

In preparation for the start of the new year, student orientations were held this past Wednesday for grades
1-8. Orientation for the nursery and kindergarten took place over Wednesday and Thursday. These are
crucial transitional years for the students, and meeting the teachers and seeing their new environments
helped them acclimate to the first day of school. The preschool met one-on-one with their individual
teachers in their classrooms. First grade students and parents toured the building and became comfortable
with their surroundings, and did an art project in their classroom. Second thru fifth grade students had an
opportunity to practice their modified departmental procedures with their teachers, and JHS students had
sessions with Rabbi Landsman, Mrs. Golubtchik and Rabbi Hamel. We look forward to an exciting and
meaningful school year!

• JHS MIX IT UP lunch – includes ice breakers and activities to get

people talking to each other who normally would not

• Anti-Bullying lessons – students from the JHS teach anti-bullying

lessons to students in the elementary school grades

• MIX IT UP poster contest – students create original posters

promoting anti-bullying and tolerance messages

• MIX IT UP Literacy – with money raised, new books will be purchased

for elementary school classroom libraries that spread the anti-bullying
and tolerance messages
