Rabbi Mordechai Becher Speaks at the YCQ Parent Child Learning Program!
This past Sunday we had the amazing privilege of having Rabbi Mordechai Becher from Gateways come speak to us during
our Sunday morning learning program. Rabbi Becher is a Senior Lecturer for Gateways and is one of the leading voices in
American Orthodox Jewish Outreach!! He is known for his exceptional speaking skills as well as his sense of humor. Rabbi
Becher is the author of numerous books and is the host of a radio show as well as a Time Warner Cable Television Show
entitled "Dimensions of the Daf". Rabbi Becher spoke about the why we need 613 mitzvot. The Rabbi said that really the
613 get split up to three parts, ben adam l’chaveiro, ben adam l’makom, and lastly, ben adam l’atzmo. These are such
fundamental aspects of our life and belief. Thank you Rabbi Becher for coming to teach us!
Our Healthy & Wise program is off to a great start!
The nursery and kindergarten students learned about eating fruits and vegetables in all the colors of the rainbow so we can
get all the vitamins we need. They also showed off some exercise moves so their muscles can become big and strong. The
first graders had the opportunity to decorate our bulletin board with caterpillar mobiles from the book, “The Very Hungry
Caterpillar” by Eric Carle. Our second graders made healthy food picnic baskets to show the healthy snacks we are
allowed to bring to YCQ, such as fruits and vegetables, rice cakes, yogurt, and cheese. We played Health & Nutrition
Bingo, with the third grade to remember that being healthy is not only about eating right, it’s about exercising, sleeping,
and washing our hands too.
Parshat Noach Comes Alive
This past week, some of the animals from Noach’s Teivah visited the nursery, kin-
dergarten and the first grade children when a traveling teivah came to the YCQ
yard. The children in grades N-3 got to feed and pet a llama, sheep, goat, rabbits,
and much more! The children had an amazing time and had a chance to experi-
JHS Girls Rosh Chodesh Trip!
This past Wednesday the junior high school girls went on a trip to Flushing
Meadow Park, in honor of Rosh Chodesh! The girls enjoyed bike riding and
the boardwalk! This was a great time for the students and Morot to get to
know each other outside of the classroom setting and enjoy a morning in the
sun!
