UPCOMING Parshat Tzav By: Rabbi Landsman

EVENTS There are only four of them in all of the Torah with one in Parshat
Tzav and they are as unique in sound as they are in meaning. Yet of all
Candle Lighting: them, the "shalshelet" of this weeks parsha is the most intriguing. This

Sinai, is associated with struggle, dissonance and tension. We are guided to

April 11-14 his loyalty to Avraham and his children. Eliezer, having imbibed the

Thursday May 5 Tzav (8:23). Moshe was preparing the ram that will complete the
Special Programs consecration services of the Mishkan. After this korban, Aharon will take

here? What is the message to be learned?

PTO Supperette Rabbi Yaakov Neuburger, Rosh Yeshiva, Yeshiva University and Rav

Moshe was clearly very conflicted about giving up the opportunity to serve

Sunday Morning Learning with Rabbi Pearl

This past Sunday Morning Parent and Child Learning featured a shiur on "Kibbud Av
VaEim", "Honoring One's Father and Mother", given by Rabbi Pearl. The opening
question was why this mitzvah is included on the First Tablet which lists those mitzvot
which are bein adam laMakom, between man and G-d, and not on the Second Tablet
which lists those mitzvot which are bein adam lechaveiro, between man and his fellow
man. The Sefer HaChinuch's answer provided a much deeper understanding of the nature
of this commandment. The students' questions and answers showed their understanding
and appreciation of the particulars of the law. Needless to say, the topic was appreciated
by the parents.

Debate Team

The Middle School Yeshiva Debate League participated in a debate with
NOAM and Flatbush at the Noam campus. The resolution we debated was that
electronic cigarettes and regular cigarettes should be banned in all public
places. YCQ is proud of Ari Ostrow who won as first place individual speaker.
Team members Shira Schwartz and Leah Inoyatov won as the second place
team and Dylan Saltzman and Ari Ostrow as the third place team.
Congratulations to all our debate team members and to Mrs. Esther
Ben-Habib, team coach.
