2. Why Inspiration Is Central to School Girls

If you're a parent or professional, or leader , your business is to urge the most effective
calculate of the children, or peoples in your custody. Traditional approaches to group
management typically often rely on 'the carrot and the stick' — offering prizes for good
performance, using decision-making authority to command children or people, and
punishing failure to comply.

However, innovative effort is absolutely not the same.

You're in all probability aware that innovative people have a tag for being free spirits WHO
hate being told what to try and do. Thus it will not surprise you to listen to that wielding
the large stick can have a negative impact on their effort.

But did you recognize that you simply will do exactly the maximum amount of damage if
you use a carrot?

What makes innovative people not the same?

We all recognize the typecast of the initiator — sensible, temperamental, self-examining,

alternately consumed proudly then racked with timidity. Problematic. Unconventional.

perhaps infuriated. Psychologists have dedicated enormous energies to making a

challenge to examine, outline and live the ‘innovative disposition’ — however it's going to

interest you to hold that they need not had abundant success. Where they have succeeded

nonetheless, is in establishing the impact of unalike types of inspiration on the innovative

process.

Guidebooks 6

We will probably do together if we take time to understand certain terminologies from
the onset.

What is Inspiration, innovation and Central?

In a culture hooked in to measurement talent and skill, we regularly overlook
the vital role of inspiration. Inspiration awakens us to us to transcend
our standard experiences and limitations. Inspiration propels someone from apathy
to chance, and transforms the approach we tend to understand our own capabilities.
Inspiration could typically be unnoted as a result of its elusive nature. Its history of
being treated as supernatural or divine hasn’t helped the case. however as
recent analysis shows, inspiration will be activated, captured, and manipulated,
and it's a significant impact on vital life outcomes.

Inspiration has three central qualities.

Psychologists Todd M. Thrash and Andrew J. Elliot have noted these core aspects of
inspiration: evocation, transcendence, and approach motivation. First, inspiration is
evoked spontaneously without intention. Inspiration is also transcendent of our more
animalistic and self-serving concerns and limitations. Such transcendence often involves
a moment of clarity and awareness of new possibilities. As Thrash and Elliot note, “The
heights of human motivation spring from the beauty and goodness that precede us and
awaken us to better possibilities.” This moment of clarity is often vivid, and can take the
form of a grand vision, or a “seeing” of something one has not seen before (but that
was probably always there) (Harvard Business Reviews, 2019).

Finally, inspiration involves approach motivation, in which the individual strives to
transmit, express, or actualize a new idea or vision. According to Thrash and Elliot,
inspiration involves both being inspired by something and acting on that inspiration.

Inspired persons share positive physiognomies.

Thrash and Elliot technologically advanced the “Inspiration Scale,” which processes the
rate of recurrence with which a person experiences inspiration in their daily lives. They
found that inspired people were more exposed to new experiences, and recounted
more fascination in their tasks. “Openness to Experience” often
came before inspiration, signifying that those who are more open to inspiration are
more likely to experience it. Additionally, inspired individuals weren’t more
hardworking, supporting the view that inspiration is something that happens to you and
is not yearned.

Guidebooks 7

Inspired people were more innately motivated and less extrinsically motivated,
variables that also strongly impact effort performance. Inspiration was least related to
variables that involve agency or the development of resources, again indicating the
excellent nature of inspiration. Therefore, what makes an object inspiring is its
perceived personal inherent worth, and not how much it’s demonstrably worth or how
within reach it is. Inspired people also reported higher levels of important psychological
resources, including belief in their own abilities, self-esteem, and optimism. Mastery of
work, absorption, creativity, perceived competence, self-esteem, and optimism were all
consequences of inspiration, suggesting that inspiration facilitates these important
psychological resources. Interestingly, work mastery also came before inspiration,
suggesting that inspiration is not purely passive, but does favor the prepared mind
(Harvard Business Review, 2019).

Inspiration is the catalyst for inventiveness.

Inspired people view themselves as more innovative and display real escalations in self-
ratings of inventiveness over time. Patent-holding inventors report being inspired more
frequently and intensely than non-patent holders, and the higher the frequency of
inspiration, the higher the number of patents held (Harvard Business Review, 2019).

Being in a state of inspiration also predicts the inventiveness of writing samples across
scientific writing, poetry, and fiction (as judged by a panel of fellow students)
independent of SAT verbal scores, Openness to Experience, positive affect, specific
behaviors (e.g., deleting prior sentences), and aspects of the product quality (e.g.,
technical merit). Inspired writers are more efficient and productive, and spend less time
pausing and more time writing. The link between inspiration and inventiveness is
consistent with the transcendent aspect of inspiration, since inventiveness involves
seeing possibility beyond existing constraints. Importantly, inspiration and effort
predict different aspects of an activity. Individuals who exerted more effort writing
spent more of their time pausing, deleted more words, wrote more sentences per
paragraph, and had better technical merit and use of rhyming in poems, but their work
was not considered more innovative.

Inspiration facilitates progress toward goals.

In a recent study conducted by Marina Milyavskaya and her colleagues, college
students were asked to report three goals they intended to accomplish throughout the
course of the semester. They then reported on their progress three times a month.
Those who scored higher on the Inspiration Scale displayed increased goal progress,
and their progress was a result of setting more inspired goals.

Guidebooks 8

Therefore, persons who were mostly more inspired in their day-to-day lives also be likely
to set inspired goals, which were then more likely to be successfully accomplished.

Outstandingly, the connection between inspiration and goal growth was give-and-take:
goal growth also projected future goal inspiration. As the researchers note, “this
suggests that goal progress and goal inspiration build on each other to form a cycle of
greater goal inspiration and greater goal pursuit.” Finally, inspired individuals reported
experiencing more purpose in life and more gratitude.

Inspiration accelerates good fortune.

In a different study, persons who were exposed to Michael Jordan’s prominence
experienced higher levels of positive affect, and this increase in positive affect was
completely explained by their score on the Inspiration Scale. This inspiration was not
momentary though, envisaging positive good fortune (e.g., positive affect, life
satisfaction) three months later! Inspiration was more strongly related to future than to
present satisfaction. The extent to which inspiration lasted was explained by self-
reported levels of purpose and gratitude in life (Harvard Business Review, 2019).

Another unbelievably important, and repeatedly disregarded activator of inspiration is
contact to inspiring leaders, role models, and heroes. As Gregory Dess and Joseph
Picken note in “Changing Roles: Leadership In The 21st Century,” our competitive global
economy requires leaders to shift their focus from efficient management to effective
utilization of a concern’s diversity of resources. They argue for five key roles of
leadership:

• Using strategic vision to motivate and inspire
• Empowering employees at all levels
• Accumulating and sharing internal knowledge
• Gathering and integrating external information
• Challenging the status quo and enabling creativity
• Steve Jobs is the quintessential example of an inspiring leader, and he

unquestionably checked each of these boxes in spades.

To become personally inspired, the best you can do is set up the optimal circumstances
for inspiration. As a society, the best we can do is assist in setting up these important
circumstances for everyone. An easy first step is simply recognizing the sheer potency
of inspiration, and its potential impact on everything we do.

Guidebooks 9

Innovation in its modern meaning is "a new idea, creative thoughts, new imaginations in
form of device or method". Innovation is often also viewed as the application of better
solutions that meet new requirements, unarticulated needs, or existing market needs.

Understanding innovation in its modern meaning.

What is innovation: why almost every person defines it wrong. A suitable definition of
innovation is straightforwardly implicit, is artless, and unmistakably tells you whether
something is innovative or not. But innovation is precarious in the modern economy.
That is why we are going to come up with a clear and useful definition for innovation.

For the purpose of this book, a useful definition of innovation perhaps:
• Has to be easy to understand
• Consistently filters out the sorts of activities that set group eyes rolling
• Seldom excludes things most of us would consider meaningful innovation
• Is momentary and artless.

Lets start from somewhere:

Peter Drucker said “Innovation is the specific instrument of entrepreneurship… the act
that endows resources with a new capacity to create wealth.”

This definition is rather eloquent. The concept of endowing resources with a new
capacity to create value is interesting. But still it doesn’t feel like a
particularly useful definition.

Suppose we look at this one:

Scott Berkun thinks “Innovation is significant positive change.” That’s starting to sound
better to me. He adds the notion of “significance.” If it doesn’t matter (to someone),
should we call it innovation? I think not.

But probably this definition focuses on the outcome rather than the process. If you
don’t know whether something is innovative until after the fact, it’s hard to apply the
definition proactively.

Here is how Joe Dwyer from Digintent.com defines innovation:

“Innovation is the process of creating value by applying novel solutions to meaningful
problems.”

Guidebooks 10

The reason we believe it has utility is in the three explicit tests for “innovative-ness” we
can apply:

Is it novel? The notion of novelty is seared right into the word “innovation.” If it’s not
original, it’s perhaps more optimization than innovation.
Does it solve a meaningful problem? If not, maybe it’s art instead of innovation. That’s
not to say art isn’t valuable, but it’s generally not designed to solve a problem. To us,
innovation is.
Does it create value? If not, maybe it’s an invention rather than innovation. Inventions
can lead to value creation, but usually not until someone applies them through
innovation (Joe Dwyer, Digintent – 2019).

It also points out that—at least where we are concerned—innovation is a process. It is
not the result itself per se, but the path to get there. We know it is possible to innovate
unsuccessfully—there is plenty of evidence that innovations often fail. What is key is
that you are seeking to make value by applying a novel solution to a meaningful
problem.

According to this definition, innovation is not limited to the money-making context.
Not-for-profits can be innovative; their value creation metric is simply different.

The centrality of Inspiration in our daily life

Anything central is in the middle of something — or important to it. Central things are
necessary and important. Think about the center of a circle: it's right in the middle,
halfway between from all sides. Equally, anything central is in the middle of something.

Free the child’s potential and you will transform her into the world (Maria Montessori,
an educationist).

Inspiration is important for everyone. Inspiration is significant to live. We cannot live our
daily life favorably without inspiration. Inspiration is the presence of purpose and desire
to achieve daily life, career, and business goals. Just an example, Inspiration helps us to
get up early and become productive.

When we are inspired, excited, getting more than expected results from something we
get inspired. Such as its inspiring when you read stories and beliefs of successful people.
It’s inspiring when you see someone achieving something great and feeling happy.

Guidebooks 11

That’s the way we feel motivated and it helps us to achieve our own goals.

There are thousands of inspirations around us. Such as inspiration from books,
inspiration from quotes, inspiration from the discussion, inspiration from liquid,
inspiration from vegetation, inspiration from children, inspiration from parents,
inspiration from coaches, etc.

But we cannot identify all of them.

It is because we are not connected with the sense of inspiration. The sense of
inspiration is the greatest thing that comes to our heart and mind similarly many times
in a day. But most of us are unsuccessful to get it. The sense of inspiration is the key to
various accomplishments in our life.

When I lose the sense of inspiration and the sense to prove something as a basketball
player, it is time for me to move away from the game (Vijay Sharma, Klient Solutech).

3. What Makes Girls go to School?

Every single day, girls face blockades to schooling triggered by insufficiency, traditional
norms and practices, poor structures, ferocity and breakability. Girls’ schooling is a
calculated improvement urgency for the World Bank.

Girls’ education goes outside getting girls into school. It is also roughly ensuring that girls
learn and feel innocuous while in school; complete all levels of schooling with the amount
of knowledge and skills to meritoriously compete in the world of employment; acquire
the socio-emotional and life-skills obligatory to steer and acclimate to a shifting world;
make decisions about their own lives; and subsidize to their societies and the world.

Girls’ schooling is a deliberate development significance. Enhanced accomplished women
have a habit of being healthier, partake more in the formal labour market, receive higher
wages, have less children, marry at a later age, and enable better healthcare and
schooling for their children, should they choose to turn into mothers. All these aspects
pooled can help lift families, societies, and countries out of poverty.

“Child brides are often robbed of their rights to safety and security, to health and education,
and to make their own life choices and decisions,” said Quentin Wodon, the World Bank’s
Project Director and co-author of the report. “Child marriage not only puts a stop to girls’
hopes and dreams. It also hampers efforts to end poverty and achieve economic growth and
equity. Ending this practice is not only the morally right thing to do but also the economically
smart thing to do.”

Guidebooks 13

Child marriage is also a critical challenge. Child brides are much more likely to drop out
of school and complete fewer years of education than their peers who marry later. This
affects the education and health of their children, as well as their ability to earn a
living. According to a recent report, more than 41,000 girls under the age of 18 marry
every day and putting an end to the practice would increase women’s expected
educational attainment, and with it, their potential earnings. According to estimates,
ending child marriage could generate more than $500 billion in benefits annually each
year (The World Bank Group, 2019).

Every day, girls face blockades to schooling instigated by poverty, traditional norms and
practices, poor structures, ferocity, and breakability. The WBG has joined with
governments, civil society organizations, multilateral organization, the private sector,
and donors to advance multi-sectoral approaches to overcome these challenges.

Working together with girls and women, the WBG focus includes:
• Providing conditional cash transfers, stipends or scholarships;
• Reducing distance to school;
• Targeting boys and men to be a part of discussions about cultural and societal

practices;
• Ensuring gender-sensitive curricula and pedagogies;
• Hiring and training qualified female teachers;
• Building safe and inclusive learning environments for girls and young women;
• Ending child/early marriage; and
• Addressing violence against girls and women.

Educated women are more likely to invest in the next generation.

Here are the top reasons why getting girls into school is so important:

Educating girls increases a country’s collective and economic good fortune

Educating girls has benefits not just for themselves but also for their communities and
countries. With a quality education, girls can make informed choices, improving their
country’s social and economic good fortune.

In fact, there is a lot of evidence that countries with less gender disparity in schools are
more likely to have higher economic growth. Some countries lose more than $1 billion a
year by failing to educate girls at the same level as boys (Global Citizen, 2019)!

Guidebooks 14

Educated women are more likely to invest in the next generation

Educated women comprehend the value of schooling and place a high priority on
providing schooling and better healthcare to their families. UNICEF reports that girls’
education literally saves millions of lives!

Sending a girl to school can unleash her potential and will-power

Providing a girl with one extra year of schooling outside the typical increases her future
wages by 20%. This has huge implications for girls in the developing world! (Global
Citizens, 2019)

It is five o'clock in the morning, in the middle of bush, in the heart of the Eastern
Province of Zambia. A small girl walks into a classroom – one of which we were using as
an office as we were conducting a baseline survey for the 360 degree online program
for the American University and Impact USA. A small girl walks inside and finds a desk.
She squarely seats there and gazes in our direction as we were busy preparing for the
morning data collection, charging the kindles and ensuring the tools were ready for the
day. As I passed by, I was caught on a sight of the girl seated without a jersey and
shoes, only putting finished ‘patapatas’ and torn red dress. My attention became so
absolute because I was quick to notice her and straightaway was concerned of her
condition – It was rainy season and an atmosphere cold for one to be without a
cardigan and shoes for that matter.

I stopped and greeted her.

“hello my dear, how are you?”
“I am fine” she answered looking rather scared of me.
“You are too early my friend?” I said seating closer on the same desk she was seated.
“Yes. My father brought me as he was going to the field”. This is interpreted but was
spoken in Nyanja and not in English.

The girl was really feeling cold and her clothes and patapatas never shielded her from
any aggressive weather conditions. I could see that she really need some warm clothing
and nice warm shoes. As we were seated there the teacher entered and also greeted
her. She answered. Then I was quick to tell the teacher to take the girl in room that was
a bit warmer than the open classroom. As I finished talking, the teacher screamed in
laughter and shouting “these kids are used to harsh conditions”.

Personally, I couldn’t understand what she meant!

Guidebooks 15

Time for our team to go, since time was coming on to eight o’clock. By that time many
of the students had come and were busy making noise around the classrooms. As I
entered the car, I looked and saw another girl walking towards the car, with no shoes at
all and her uniform was wet. I stopped and called the head teacher. “sir, really can that
girl come to school like that?”
“these kids”, he laughed also continued “these kids here sir are used”.

I still di not understand what this Head teacher was talking about!

I started the vehicle and drove off. On our way, I started the story and tried to get an
understanding from the data collectors – most of them were recruited within the same
area. Of course, I did probe and got some explanations and I think the central point of
all this was on the “high levels of poverty” in rural settings.

I totally refused that those girls should come to school like that, and I made efforts of
asking the teacher to invite the parents to come through so I can have a serious talk
with them. Undeniably, they responded o my call and the next day, after data collection,
I had a discussion with them. The point was why allow the children come to school in
without any warm clothing in a season like that. And also checking why the children
should be allowed to come to school without shoes?

It was a lengthy discussion and apparently we found solutions at the end of it.

If you have a girl child who is struggling in school and doesn’t seem to be inspired to
make an effort, the first thing you want to do is explore whether there is some obstacle
getting in her way.

Learning issues, social challenges, attention or emotional problems can all cause kids to
disengage academically.

But not all kids who are underperforming in school—clearly not living up to their
potential—have a diagnosable problem. And there are a number of things parents can
do to help inspire kids to try harder.

Get involved.

As a parent, your being there in the academic life of your girl child is critical to her
assurance to work. Sort out homework with her, and let her know that you are available
to answer questions. Get in the habit of asking her about what she learned in school,
and generally engage her academically.

Guidebooks 16

By establishing your interest in your child’s school life, you are showing her school can
be exciting and interesting. This is especially effective with young kids who tend to be
excited about whatever you are excited about. Teenagers can bristle if they feel you are
asking too many questions, so make sure you are sharing the details of your day, too.
A conversation is always better than an interrogation (Child Mind Institute, 2019).

Equally, it is imperative to stay involved but give older kids a little more space. If you are on
top of your daughter all the time about homework, she may develop resistance and be less
inspired to work—not to mention the stress it will put on your relationship.

Do the following to ensure your daughter is on top of things:

• Use reinforcement - rewarding kids for good work
• Reward effort rather than outcome - praise for good grades
• Help them see the big picture - link school up with their long-term goals
• Let them make mistakes - know that setbacks are natural
• Get outside help - finding an older student (either at their school or a nearby college) to

help him out with work
• Make the teacher your associate - work with her teacher
• Get support for yourself

4. You Cannot Inspire Anybody

Inspiration' is often spoken of as if you were injecting into people some kind of magic
remedy, or getting them to guzzle before setting to work, like Asterix taking a tot from
his hip flask before laying in the Ancient platoons. According to this view, inspiring
workers is the work of the leader, like the orthodox football coach who shouts through a
microphone at his charges.

Occasionally that can be an unlimited notion, nevertheless as Arsene Wenger says, you
can only certainly scream at people a few times a season if you want it to be real— if you
do it every week, they just get castoff to it and disregard you. Besides if you ensure to
scream, inspire and entice your people to create every week's effort, then a little is
incorrect.

I went to a psychotherapy mentor seminar once, where I learnt about counseling
inspiration. The facilitator drew an analogy with curling, the winter sport in which players
turn to throw a stone across the ice towards a goal, while their teammates sweep the ice
with brushes in front of it, reducing friction and making the stone slip further. It is not the
work of the psychologist to throw the stone, according to the facilitator — the stimulus
for change must come from the client. The mission of the counselor is to sweep the ice
and help the client keep going, making it easier than pushing. I think the same applies to
controlling— if you have people who put a lot of strength and direction in their throws,
you can do a grotesque work of scouring the ice before them.

Guidebooks 18

However, if they don't have any power, you can sweep everything you like, but the stone
won't move.

And you cannot get anyone else to ' inspire. ' You should show them the target, make the
path smooth and cheer them along. Nevertheless, instead of putting in, inspiration is some
thing you pull out.

Regrettably, You Can Demoralize Persons

‘Low inspiration' is sometimes given to an individual who does not perform as expected as
a pseudo-diagnosis. Yet I find them incredibly inspired just about every time I have had the
pleasure to work with such a designated' problem individual'—just not about the things
that their leader wants them to do. They are sometimes inspired by things that have
nothing to do with their work— their allotment , their band, their sports team, their recipe
for sweet-and-sour pork or their upcoming ascent of Kanchenjunga. These are often
individuals in the wrong occupation, or individuals who simply see their work as a way of
paying bills.

In the innovative industries, I have experienced less of these instances than in other
markets, perhaps because the competition for stimulating innovative occupations is
stereotypically so intense that you have to be pretty inspired to get in the door first.
Nonetheless, unhappily I have come across the other kind of ‘low inspiration’ — where
someone’s passion and assurance have been damaged down or ruined altogether by
experiences at work, often involving their leader. Such people have the feeling, rightly or
wrongly, that their supervisor does not care about (a) them as an individual, (b) their
contribution to the team, or both. They are thinking' Why should I care if it does not make
any difference?'. And the thing is, every so often the leader does not know how little it
could take to turn things around.

I was once running a scholarship project. I received the funding from the principal
implementers at five o'clock a day before our first big dash of scholarships to the
recipients, several days late. To my dismay I found a main problem that would involve
fixing at least one day's work. Excited to astonish, I stayed all night to do it, cutting and
pasting hundreds of names and schools carefully. This was not the first time I had worked
late into the night. The next morning, the Programme Manager came into the office and
asked for a preview of the presentation.

He stopped me halfway through, pointing to a missing school —
"Who put these schools?" she asked. "Well I did, but –
" I said, before she interrupted: "Then that's your fault, isn't it?"

Guidebooks 19

She missed me at that point.

I never worked again after 5.30 p.m., let alone weekends or every night. It was not long
before I started to seek a new career. I have always been a professional, but I realized it was
not worth the extra mile. Looking back at it now, I guess she thought she would set high
standards, pushing me to do better next time. She certainly never knew she would shot
herself in the foot— and how little it took to hold my excitement.

Returning to the twisting correlation: you can not throw the stone yourself as a coach,
but if you are not careful, you can easily block it.

So how do I inspire my school girl to make sure?

You cannot do that. Not sure about 100 percent. Superiors are accelerators and
influencers, as Mark Earls would put it— but ultimately not controllers. School girls have a
choice at all times.

However, though inspiration cannot be guaranteed, you can do a number of things to
make it more likely.

It may sound ordinary, however, recruiting inspired persons is the most important thing.
Note, you cannot put inspiration in people, just take what is already there and reinforce
it. If you decide to hire or collaborate with someone else, you obviously need to
recognize their abilities, expertise, and skills — on the other hand do not forget to ask:
how dedicated is this individual to our shared goal? If you're able to‘ if you cannot answer
‘really’ then you might find yourself in trouble, no matter how good they look on paper.

I suggest you ask yourself two basic questions when people are in your care:

1. How do I tape and reinforce their main reasons?
2. How can I stop these inspirations being blocked?

These questions are really two sides of the same coin, nevertheless as my example
shows, when you think you are doing 1 it can be terribly easy to fall into the trap of 2.

Four Types of Inspiration

To answer the above two questions, I will consider four different types of inspiration in
my next four chapters— the basic levers of influence available to you as a parent or
superior:

Guidebooks 20

1. Inherent Inspiration – The enjoyment of effort
2. Adventitious Inspiration – Rewards for work
3. Individual Inspiration – Core Values
4. Social Inspiration – Peer pressures

All four inspirations spread over to most types of work, nevertheless I will expound why I
think it is exclusively significant to attack the right balance between them when you are
dealing with innovative work and innovative individuals.

In addition to explaining the four forms of inspiration, I am going to suggest some ways
you can use them to promote top innovative output.

Guidebooks 21

5. The Fun of Effort — Inherent Inspiration

Fun is important to the growth of life. Some individuals think it is hard to win recognition
to be true. We are highly suspicious of any fun-related benefits. When they
unintentionally earn rewards in this way, they feel guilty. If others seem to benefit from
pleasure, they question the morality of these individuals, certain that such gains can only
be misplaced.

In the meantime, they continue to struggle for things that do not give them satisfaction,
suppressing any signs of happiness that may creep through, lest they be perceived as
indications that they are not "serious" or "professional" and deserving of success. They
cut off from a big source of energy, inspiration, and encouragement in the process. One
way to ensure continued growth is to find ways to get more and more fun from your
activities. Inspiration is intimately linked to playfulness in all fields of activity— the
constant desire to do new things for the sake of fun. Approach everything you do with
this sense of play and make sure that your fun is always graceful, even if you still get
good or better results.

Individuals are paid for putting in time and effort in the organizational world. Yet
entrepreneurs, who are only paid for how much value they make, no matter what it took
to get there, realize that it is not how much time and effort you put in that counts —
what matters is the outcome. There is nothing wrong with that if you can get the same or
better result and have fun doing it. You will find ways to enjoy — and grow —
even the most challenging tasks with a little imagination and the right attitude.

Looking for Fun, Finding Growth

Claudia Mbambune (not her real name) was just 16 years of age living in Lalaland on a
beautiful farm in central Zambia. The farm had organized all its workers into groups, and
Claudia was one of the leaders, although she admits she knew the least about what they
were doing — she was their leader not because of her knowledge, but because she was a
bit educated. The farmer would assign tasks every Friday to get the most out of her
workers and say, "Once you have done that, you can have the rest of the weekend off."
The tasks would always be bigger than what could be finished on a Friday, so they would
invade the weekend of the team. She gave the task of emptying a large wetland to
Claudia's team one Friday, a job that would take the whole weekend.

Claudia decided to have some fun and teach the farmer a little lesson, fed up and feeling
mischievous. Next, she called for her group to rise at 2 a.m. Instead she succeeded in
corrallizing others from nearby farms who at that time were not working for help. We all
set off in the dead of night, slowly rolling down tractors and Land Rovers to the site, and
6 a.m. it was clear that all the work would be done by 8 a.m. Thinking it worthy of a
celebration, a team member went to the local villager and bought a goat, and everyone
who had helped gather for a breakfast barbecue outside Claudia's little hut (or a braai, as
they say in Zambia).

The farmer came by at around 9 a.m. and saw her entire workforce laughing, joking, and
not working, while (she thought) they still had to fulfill her mission. She immediately
identified Claudia as the guilty party and started to berate her:

"Claudia, this is typical of you! On the farm, you weaken discipline!“ And here and there.
Somehow, in the midst of this flood and considering her youth and the fact that she had
a speech impairment, Claudia was able to speak out calmly and clearly, "I do not know
why you are getting so excited. A long time ago, we finished your dumb little work. "At
this, the entire staff broke out with a laughter roar.

The farmer, now completely undermined her authority and status, said, "That's it! I really
had enough of you! You have to leave the farm in two hours, And don't think you are ever
going to get another job on a farm in this district or elsewhere!“ Growth Sets the stage
for a Bigger Future So Claudia packed her bags and found herself standing on the side of
the dirt road outside the farm, waiting for a lift, and from that moment on she had a
realization that changed her entire life: She realized that oppressive power did not rest in
the government, the police, or the army; it lay with all these people— the peasants, and
all the others— who were really oppression instruments. It dawned on her that
everybody had an opportunity to shape their world if energy was everywhere. Claudia
became a country-renowned scholar with a special interest in gender issues.

The Game That Absorbs You

Finding a way to bring pleasure to work involves our inventiveness and gives us the
feeling that we are in control instead of being oppressed by a task. This opens us up to
making new discoveries about ourselves, and perhaps finding the courage and strength
of character we did not know we had, as in this case. If you approach life as a game with
the goal of development, you are going to put yourself in the right frame of mind to
enjoy the adventure, whatever it brings. When you make your fun greater than your
effort, you never know what will happen. A sense of fun will bring out extraordinary
qualities and inspire others in hard-to-predict ways. Operating with this mentality would
certainly make it easier to get others on board to be of assistance. Individuals are
willing to chip in to do something if it is fun, if they are not really willing to do anything
else.

Your Exceptional Aptitude Will Help You to Develop

There may be another important reason to seek enjoyment over effort: the things that
we are best for and most passionate about, which offers us the greatest opportunity
for continuous improvement and investment, are activities that bring us enjoyment. We
call them your Exceptional Ability practices at the Competitive Coach. Each individual
has a exceptional ability, and the best opportunity to make a difference is to discover it
and find ways of creating greater and greater value in the world with it. Individuals are
often stuck in doing what is really good, but not excited about it. Although these
activities can bring benefits, they are not enjoyable or considerable long-term
expansion. Individuals may get marginally better at tasks they are not enthusiastic
about, but they will never be inspired to improve as they are when they do the things
they really want to do in these areas. So if you are concentrating on things that do not
offer you pleasure, it is likely to be at the cost of doing what will give you the greatest
productive opportunities for greatest production -
What would allow you to make a truly unique contribution to
sustainable growth if you concentrated on it.

We also see this with entrepreneurs who are stuck in managing their teams and
addressing information that would be much better left to others, rather than
strengthening customer relationships, selling or seeking innovative solutions–whatever
they do, they are actually charged and generated them up and creates their best results.
It is easy to persuade yourself, and they are often, that these other tasks are necessary,
but you do have to do them yourself? Sometimes the answer is yes, but often they can
be delegated, done differently, or eliminated altogether, with a little honesty and a little
inventiveness. So if you notice that your commitment is greater than your pleasure, it
might be a sign that you are doing something you would be better off not doing.

Guidebooks 24

Do what you enjoy and find ways to inject fun into what you are doing, and open up
opportunities that you did not know existed for ongoing development.

Where am I going to start?

Make games for the tasks. We like using a strategy that we call "sprints" to break down
big tasks into manageable chunks and make them a match. The idea is to set a realistic
target with a sprint and then push yourself to complete it in a certain time. This could
mean writing a post in 20 minutes for her. She is ahead of the game if she finishes in 10.
Keep track of your progress and award yourself a reward, if you like, to achieve your
goal. As you critique yourself like this, not only should tasks that might otherwise seem
repetitive or daunting, but also create an impetus to find better ways to do things. It
helps you complete the mission and evolve as you do it.

Innovative ways to get the desired outcome. This has a great deal to do with attitude.
You can bring enjoyment right into it if you begin with the idea that something should
be enjoyable. The decision of the Singers to make their fundraising drive into a literal
drive throughout the country because Rebecca loved being in the car, is an example of
this. Ask yourself, what can I do to make this a more enjoyable experience?

Inherent Inspiration

Inspiration is our authenticity's most vibrant and thriving expression. Because
inspiration is deeply personal, by the simple act of being inspired, we honor our true
selves. If for any reason we are not associated to our true self, we can be superficially
content with many things. Even things that make others happy we can be happy with.

While it may seem good enough to be superficial happiness, it keeps our true selves at
bay. It reinforces that we believe that we are not worthy to enjoy deep and meaningful
happiness because we do not feel that we are good enough to show or share our true
selves. When we choose to act in a way that does not respect our true self, we imagine
that somebody can live our lives better for us. The more we let this happen, the more
we believe it.

In our truest, most genuine self, the most critical needs of our internal human experience
are to be seen, valued and embraced. To experience these, to experience the purest form
of these basic human needs, we must respect and share our true self.

We seek approval from our parents when we're young. To fit in with new friends, we are lo
sing our integrity. In the simplest way we know how to compensate for these needs, which
also leads to fleeting and shallow happiness.

Guidebooks 25

Like settling for happiness, it further disconnects us from our true selves and reinforces
that we should continue to hide who we really are when we settle for love and acceptance
that is based on conforming or manipulating ourselves.

The common desire to be seen, loved and accepted as children can train us to sacrifice
ourselves in order to obtain them. As adults, in order to experience true love, true
acceptance and, eventually, true happiness, it is our duty to be seen for who we really are.
The journey isn't always easy, but inspiration is the fastest way to discover and practice
our authentic selves.

6. Rewards for Work — Extrinsic Inspiration

Worker and boss compensation and opportunities in the workplace. Workers have
improved morale, job satisfaction and participation in corporate roles when rewarded for
good performance and productivity. As a result, more output and increased sales and
profitability were achieved by bosses. Bosses and workers through workplace rewards
and incentives, enjoy a positive and productive work environment.

Inspire financial rewards

Financial rewards compensate workers with cash for success and efficiency. Such
rewards include stock options for staff, provisions for profit sharing, time off pay,
bonuses and cash awards. Other monetary incentives include quarterly or semi-annual
bonuses, including mid-year and end-of-year bonuses. In connection with work
performance, these opportunities promote friendly competition between associates.
Financial rewards inspire workers to make the best possible results.

Opportunities that are not financial

Through benefits and rewards, non-monetary incentives improve worker productivity.
Such benefits include flexible hours of work, incentives for learning and the ability to
work independently. An worker's rewards and incentives are valuable as they enable
workers to learn new skills and pursue opportunities for advancement.

Guidebooks 27

For example, a recent graduate may see an organization's outstanding training program
as more beneficial than a higher base salary because he thinks his career will benefit fro
m the learning opportunity.

Worker recognition improves morality

Workers who are rewarded for their achievements in the workplace appear to have
improved ethical and optimistic attitudes in the workplace. Acknowledgement rewards
may include award ceremonies and official statements, choosing her for the next
assignment, and asking her to mentor others. And really don't underrate a plain,
heartfelt thank-you for a well done work. There are regular job appreciation bonuses
such as at the end of the day, week or at the end of the selling month.

Working help provides harmony

Most bosses with worker support programs offer rewards and benefits. Such programs
help workers to achieve a work-life balance by ensuring the financial and emotional
well-being of workers. Some organizations, for instance, offer therapy services to help
overcome anxiety, family issues, and substance abuse.

Worker support programs also offer discounts for attending fitness centers to promote
an active and healthy lifestyle. Many programs help working parents locate their
children's day care and other events. The motive of these schemes is to train workers to
their school duties so that while at work they should remain focused on their work.

Businesses can contract the support that workers need with an worker assistance
company.

Inspiration Extrinsic

Extrinsic inspiration refers to actions driven by incentives from outside, such as money,
fame, grades, and recognition. This type of inspiration comes from outside the
individual, as opposed to the internal motivation that comes from within the individual.

Let's think of your own inspiration to read this book. In your college class, are you trying
to learn the content so you can get a good grade? It means you are learning the material
for external reinforcement (getting a good grade), which means your action is
extrinsically motivated.

On the other hand, if you read this because you are interested in learning more about
human behavior, this would be an example of extrinsic inspiration.

Guidebooks 28

Intrinsically inspired persons will continue to perform an action even though the task
may not be rewarding in and of itself.

For example, a person who works in a manufacturing position could perform a number
of unpleasant routine tasks. Because this person receives an extrinsic reward for
completing these tasks (a pay cheque), he or she will feel inspired to perform them.

If you want someone to do something like getting your kids to do their homework,
what is the best way to get them inspired? Some individuals can start by offering some
sort of reward, such as a special treat or toy. This is a great example of intrinsic
inspiration as the action is inspired by an intrinsic reward desire. Unlike intrinsic
inspiration that comes from within the person, extrinsic inspiration is purely focused on
exterior rewards.

Extrinsic inspiration's best applications

Extrinsic rewards are best applied in situations where persons have little initial interest in
carrying out the activity or where basic skills are lacking, but these rewards should be kept
small and should be directly linked to performing a particular behaviour Once some
intrinsic interest has been generated and some essential skills have been created, external
motivators should be applied.

A writer’s Language

Extrinsic inspiration can have a strong influence on human behaviour, but it also has its
limits as work on the effect of over justification indicates. You may also find it helpful when
participating in certain practices to determine whether you are internally or extrinsically
inspired Looking forward to your workout in the gym because you have got a friendly
wager who can lose the most? Then you are inspired extrinsically. If, on the other hand,
because you find the exercise fun and rewarding, you are intrinsically compelled to work
out.

So there is no negative thing about extrinsic inspiration. External incentives can be a useful
and effective means of keeping people motivated and on with the-job. This can be
especially relevant when individuals have to complete something they find very difficult or
uninteresting, like a stressful school assignment or a difficult job-related task.

7. Core Values — Individual Inspiration

If the fundamental reason for personal success had to be boiled down to one element, it
would probably be personal motivation for one element. Personal motivation, also
known as intrinsic or self-motivation, can be characterized as inspiration from the inner
desires of a person to satisfy and fulfill specific needs. Unlike individual (intrinsic)
inspiration [ see below ] deriving from external factors within an individual's
environment, personal motivation is an internal, non-observable force that generates the
effort, drive and persistence of a person towards achieving a pre-determined, worthwhile
goal. The extent and endurance of personal motivation of an individual is the single most
important factor in determining to what extent he or she is committed to doing what
needs to be done to achieve a desired outcome. See Formula Success. Typically, despite
the existence of the requisite technical skills and resources, little of any value is done
without personal motivation. Whether these elements are present or not, anything is
possible with it.

Personal inspiration stems from people's attitudes about themselves, about their
environment and their role in it. Through and through positive attitudes, personal
motivation is inspiration. Personally motivated people are driven in their skill and
worthiness by strong dreams and aspirations and their unwavering convictions. Like all
people, individuals who are personally inspired are driven to meet basic physical and
psychological needs, but unlike most people, those who are personally motivated also
develop a powerful drive for self-actualization, the highest and most satisfying level of
needs.

Guidebooks 30

This is because personally inspired people are acutely aware of the vast number of self-
fulfillment opportunities that exist in the world and are inspired to optimize their ability,
not just for personal reward, but because they believe it is part of the purpose of their
life. Unlike external inspiration which is usually short-lived and often used in a scheming
manner by others, personal motivation is much more enduring, and because it comes
from and individual’s core beliefs, it is much more closely aligned with that person’s own
needs priorities. Since personal inspiration comes from within, it is often referred to as
self-motivation.

Effective, personally inspired individuals eliminate any incorrect or detrimental beliefs the
y may have formed from previous negative conditioning and replace them intentionally w
ith "correct patterns" of thinking to motivate themselves to demonstrate the "right beha
viors" that help them define and achieve what they want out of life. Intrinsically motivate
d people cast off self-limiting habits that stifle achievement and, by proclamations and
optimistic reinforcement, actively develop success-oriented thought patterns of family,
friends and community, and most importantly, of themselves and of life in general.

Inspiration can be significantly affected in at least three important ways by the goal-
setting effectiveness of an individual.

First, the entire process of setting goals requires an active imagination and visualization
of what might be, creating a deeper awareness of what is possible. A new consciousness
will transform into desires that had never existed before. In having the opportunity to
imagine virtually unlimited possibilities for success, a person breaks free from the
psychological constraints that limit true potential and becomes free to explore and
understand its full potential and intent.

Second, the effectiveness of successful goal setting helps build confidence in one's
skill. This enhanced confidence will remove mental and emotional obstacles that may
have previously stood in the way of aiming for bigger and better things, and inspire one
to take action that he or she hadn't attempted before. Fear of failure is conquered, a
strong negative conditioning force, and people start thinking in terms of limitless
capacity. One starts to think about "what would I try to do if I knew I couldn't fail?”

Third, when he or she is hungry, lacking in safety and security, or feels rejected by others,
one cannot find inspiration for optimum expression. Moreover, many people feel that se
eking to satisfy the other lower, more basic needs usually detracts from their attempts to
meet higher-level needs

Guidebooks 31

Provided that goal-reaching skills encourage and improve the goal-reaching process,
the more basic elements of the human "hierarchy of needs" can be met more easily and
quickly.

As a consequence, a person may have an increased opportunity to set and achieve goals
related to the needs for self-esteem and self-actuation that are more highly rewarding
and satisfying. The more successful people are those who have managed to find
adequate fulfillment in all the stronger yet lower human needs and can then devote
considerable time and attention to self-realization needs, this recognition may be
the most satisfying and fulfilling of all. Moreover, the desire to meet self-actualization
needs may be the most important motivator for focused, successful and performance-
fulfilling behaviors. Learn more about target setting dynamics.

Parents as Motivator

Any parent who supervises the work of his/her child is usually responsible for inspiring
them to do what needs to be done. This can be accomplished in two ways;
by directing others to take action or by leading them. The basic distinction between
directing and leading is that a director’s motivational capability is authority-based while
leader’s power is derived from his or her own persona. By using incentives and
repercussions, i.e. external motivation they deliver through the influence of their
respective positions in groups, leaders inspire. In general, subordinates do what they are
told because of the benefits they receive by doing so (wages, praise, promotion, etc.) or
to avoid the negative consequences of not doing so (being fired, demoted or being
otherwise penalized). As addressed earlier, exterior inspiration is usually directed to
fulfill the more basic needs of a person in terms of security, social and self-
esteem which,
when fulfilled, often no longer serve as driving factors.

Through non-authoritarian means, leaders inspire people to act in a specific way by
aligning the internal desires of an individual to satisfy and fulfill personal needs with the
achievement of a common goal of an organization. In other words, leaders draw on the
inner / personal inspiration of individuals. Leaders should connect with people and create
awareness of how meeting organizational goals can also meet their personal self-
fulfillment needs (self-actualization), the highest and most fulfilling level of needs of an
individual. As a consequence, subordinates are forced into their job to optimize their
ability, not just for personal reward, but because their work is part of their life's
purpose. Management functions are recognized by both leadership and leadership, and s
killed managers know when each approach is appropriate..

8. Peer Pressures — Social Inspiration

Peer pressure' is typically a pejorative term, but here I use the word ' peer pressure' to
describe the many different ways that we affect each other — positive and negative.
Specific motives are less important from this viewpoint than experiences within a group
that I call relational motivations. When I worked as part of a societal group counseling
team, I first came across this way of looking at people 6 years ago. I had been used as a
counsellor to communicate with groups and to learn about their personal prejudices to
do so. What they have done. And I was advised by group psychologists to look at the
entire cycle of interactions between a couple or within a group, to ' sit on the ground '
and see how people are actively manipulating and reacting to each other.

Peer power and stress from peers

When you choose to do something you wouldn't otherwise do, peer power is because
you want your friends to feel accepted and valued. It's not just about doing something
against your will, or always doing something. You will hear a lot about the word ' peer
pressure '. Yet peer influence is a better way to describe how the conduct of teenagers is
influenced by the desire to feel like they belong to a group of friends or peers.

It can be positive for peer pressure and influence. For example, your will may be affected
by becoming more assertive, trying new things, or getting more involved with school.
But it may also be negative. Some adolescents may choose to try things they wouldn't
normally be interested in, such as smoking or antisocial behaviour.

Guidebooks 33

Peer pressure and power might result in children:

• Choosing the same clothes, hairstyles or jewelry as your friends
• Listening to the same music or watching the same TV shows as your friends
• Change their way of speaking, or the words they use to do risky things or break rules
• Working harder at school, or not working as hard
• Dating or taking part in sexual activities
• Smoking or using alcohol or other drugs.

Becoming yourself: a parental pressure balance and peer power

It is quite natural to worry that her peers are too much influencing your daughter, or that
she's losing out on her principles to fit in with her mates. It is also common to worry that
if she gets pressure to try risky things like wagging school or cigarettes, your child simply
will not be able to say no.

However listening to the same music and dressing as friends does not necessarily add up
to making antisocial or risky things to your child afterwards.

So if your child is happy with who she is and with her choices and values, other people are
less likely to influence her. She may choose to do some of the things her friends are
doing, but not others. And your impact here is significant–it is the most important factor
that influences the beliefs and long-term choices of your daughter.

Help your child deal with peer pressure and social control

It is about getting the right balance between being yourself and fitting in with your
community to cope well with peer pressure. Here are some ideas for this to support your
son.

Create the self-esteem and confidence of your child

It is better for children with strong self-esteem to resist negative peer pressure and
influence.

You will develop the self-esteem and trust of your child by encouraging her to try new
things that give her a chance to succeed, and to continue to try even when things are
difficult. Also, you can be a role model of confidence and teach your child how to behave
confidently as the first step to feeling confident.

Guidebooks 34

It is important to compliment your child for working hard to build self-esteem and trust.

Hold communication lines open

By staying connected with your child, you can do this. This can make her feel more
comfortable speaking to you if she is tempted to do something with which she is
uncomfortable.

Suggested forms of saying no

The child may need some face-saving ways to say no if they feel compelled to do
something that they don't want to do. Friends may be urging her to try smoking, for
example. Instead of just answering ' no, thank you, ' she might say something like, ' no, it
makes my allergies worse ' or ' no, I do not like how it makes me feel. ‘

Grant teenagers a way out

Because your child feels that she is in a high risk situation, it may help if she can write or
call you to back up. For such moments when your child doesn't want to feel embarrassed
in front of family, you and your child might even agree on a coded message. She might
pretend she's checking on a sick grandparent, for instance, but you're going to know it
really means she needs a hand. If your daughter is calling you, it is better to focus on the
positive decision of your child to ask for help, rather than the risky situation in which your
child is. If she knows she won't get into trouble, your child will be more likely to ask for
help.

Promote a broad social network

Because your child has the opportunity to develop relationships from a variety of
sources, including sport, family activities, or clubs, it will mean that if a relationship goes
wrong, she will have many more opportunities and sources of support.

If you think about peer pressure and peer control

Trying to encourage your child to have friends and space in your home can help you get
to know the friends of your child. This also gives you the opportunity to check your child's
negative peer pressure and power.

Effective communication and a positive relationship with your child may also allow your
child to communicate with you if they have negative peer pressure.

Guidebooks 35

If you are already worried about the friends of your child being a negative influence,
being critical of them may cause your child to see them behind your back. Because your
child thinks her friends don't agree with you, she might even want to see more of them.
So talking and listening without judging is crucial, and letting your child carefully see all
the impact her peers have.

This could mean talking to your child about activities that you do not like more than the
people you do not like. For example, you might say, ' You sometimes get into fights when
you are with your friends. This could be better than knowing, ' New friends must be
found. ‘

It could also help you make compromises with your daughter. For example, encouraging
her to wear certain clothes or cut her hair in a particular way will make her feel connected
to her peers, even if you may not like purple hair or tight jeans. It can reduce the risk of
more risky decisions if your child has some autonomy.

When to think about peer control and peer pressure

When you notice changes in the mood, attitude, eating or sleeping patterns of your child
that you believe are attributable to her peers, it may be time to have a talk with her.

Several changes in mood and attitude are common in adolescents. But if your daughter
seems to be in a low mood for more than two weeks, or if it gets in the way of activities
she usually loves, you may begin to worry about the mental health of your child.

Signs of alert include:

• Low moods, psychological distress or feelings of hopelessness
• hostility or antisocial behavior that is not normal for your child
• sudden behavioral changes, often for no apparent reason
• trouble sleeping, sleeping or waking early
• loss of appetite or over-consumption
• reluctance to go to school
• The girl's withdrawal from things used to be like
• comments about giving up or life that was not worth living.
• If you really are worried, talk to your child first. The first move is to speak to your

Specialist who will be able to put you in touch with your local child and adolescent
health team or other qualified provider.

9. Leveling Innovative Inspirations

Now that we have looked at four different inspiration forms, it is also time to put them
together and look at the whole picture.

Inspiration is generally complicated, so there are several different types of inspiration
involved in any specific task or programme. You may love your work for your own sake
(inherent), but that does not mean you are going to be put out unless your (extrinsic)
monthly salary figure arrives. You could have a great natural enthusiasm or the need for
(personal) self-expression, however that does not mean support and Any workplace
rivalry will not inspire you to redouble your (interpersonal) efforts. But you have probably
noticed that there are different types of inspiration that can shade each other.

Look at the diagram below, that consists of two axes: inherent-extrinsic; Social-individual.
It is possible to evaluate inspiration types and their relative importance for each of the
four dimensions for any given person, task, programme or institution.

Inherent

Individual Social

Extrinsic 37

Guidebooks

A key cost-effective principle is that individuals respond to incentives. On the other hand,
incentives and punishments are often counterproductive to psychologists and
sociologists because they hinder "intrinsic inspiration."

We reconcile these two views, demonstrating how performance incentives provided by a
knowledgeable principal (manager, educator, parent) can negatively affect the
understanding of the task by an individual (worker, child) as well as her own skill.
Incentives are then in the short run just moderate enhancers, and in the long run
detrimental enhancers. We further study the effects on inspiration of confidence,
assistance and excuses, but also ego damaging situations representing a fight for
superiority within a relationship.

I read somewhere where a man said to himself that it was not such a resonating creation,
after all. This man had discovered, without knowing it, a great law of human action —
namely, that to make a man or a kid inherit a thing, it is only necessary to make it hard to
accomplish. That unless, like the author of this book, he had been a great and mighty
thinker, he would now have known that Work involves of how much a body is expected
to do, and that play consists of whatever a body is not obliged to (Mark Twain, 1876).

Lets look at this.

My mate and I are friends in aerobics. He enjoys doing aerobics and is often going to go
for aerobics just to clear his head or blow off steam. Also, I hate aerobics, but I do it
because my doctor has told me that I have to lose weight or that I may end up with
diabetes.

Inherently, he is inspired to do aerobics. When you do something, inherent inspiration is
because you enjoy it or find it interesting. Contrast that with me, whose justification for
doing aerobics includes extrinsic inspiration, or doing something for potential benefits or
preventing negative effects.

Today, you might think inherent inspiration is better than extrinsic inspiration, and up to a
point then you would be. Research has shown that if inherently inspired, individuals are
more likely to stick to a task, spend more time in a task, and be more successful in it.
Exercising for disease prevention requires encouragement from the extrinsic.

Extrinsic inspiration, nevertheless, does have its spot. And besides, most of us would
never workout, do not go to school, and have never dust our homes without extrinsic
inspiration. Often day-to-day tasks are extrinsically inspired to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Moreover, who does not like being praised for what they are doing?

Guidebooks 38

Key points of inspiration inherent or extrinsic

• Inspirations are usually classified into two specific types depending on the
motivating factor's nature: inherent (based on internal factors) or extrinsic (based
on external factors).

• Incentive theory suggests that action is largely extrinsically inspired: if they earn a
reward afterwards, people are more likely to execute tasks, or merely that they
actually enjoy the actions.

• Due to the sense of individual satisfaction they draw, inherently inspired actions
are done.

• Extrinsically inspired behaviors are performed to get something from others — like
recognition, praise, chocolate, money or popularity.

• Surveys have also shown that inherent inspiration will decrease over time by
introducing extrinsic incentives for behaviors already found motivating by an
individual.

• Extrinsic stimuli ' effectiveness varies depending on factors such as self-esteem,
control manifestation, personality-efficacy, and openness to experience.

Perspective of social vs individual inspiration

Social inspiration is delineated as an inspiration aimed at others. To conceptualize
psychological problems and conditions in which social inspiration can play a significant
role, we use basic concepts from target theory. They present different approaches to
empirically test social inspiration and explain clinical research and practice
implementations of these principles and steps.

Social inspiration is the idea that people are probably inspired to engage with others, to
connect with each other. For human survival, that was very relevant: individuals do not
tend to survive very well on their own. And working with other individuals is a very
important strategy to spend some time with others..

Social inspiration is a concept that has been around for a long time, however lately I
became mainly interested in it, as a social inspiration theory of anxiety has arisen,
suggesting that people with anxiety, who we know have differences in many aspects of
human communication, may also have differences in their ability to communicate with
others.

Otherwise they will avoid others, they may not look so much at other individuals, they
may not know so much from other individuals.

Guidebooks 39

A subject of social inspiration as a whole is very important for understanding individual
differences in social behaviour, as each individual will have their own underlying motiv
es and their intentions can even change throughout the course of the day, all across th
e course for the week, throughout their life.

For youth, there may be very different social dynamics relative to adulthood and at
various adult levels. If we have ways to measure these phenomena and explain where
they come from, that will give us a much better scientific foundation, how to
understand why people make specific decisions in specific ways, and how to help
people who are struggling in social situations from a wide variety of social
psychological disorders, many of which have some sort of inspirational aspect. So,
that's going to be the long-term goal of such research.

Individual inspiration, on the other hand, could be the key to success in your career.
Certain characteristics are often overridden by personal motivation. You may realize
you can succeed with talent, skills and knowledge in business alone, but the secret to
optimizing these characteristics is your everyday working habits. Sometimes, personal
motivation is the "magic bullet" that separates a good worker from a great one.
People who play at the top.

Individual inspiration, sometimes referred to as Self-motivation, is the force that
continues to push us forward – it is our inner drive to attain, generate, grow, and keep
moving forward. If you think all of you are ready to quit something, or do not really
know how to get started, it is also your self-motivation that pushes you forward.

The Self-motivation Elements

1. Personal drive to achieve this

You might think of a personal drive to attain as aspirations, or perhaps self
empowerment. Nevertheless, it is also worth considering about in order to think.

There are two kinds of thinking, fixed, and growth.

Those with a fixed mind think that technical ability is deeply rooted and that we
cannot modify our level of skill.

Those who have a growing mentality think that they might reach their full potential
through hard work and dedication.

Guidebooks 40

Studies show that all those who think that they can continue improving — that is, that
they have a growth mentality — are much more highly probable to do so in whatever
sphere they choose. Growth of mind is indeed an important part of a personal drive to
achieve.

2. Commitment to goals

There really is substantial evidence, although much of it is theoretical, that goal-setting
is critical for our overall well-being.

It probably makes sense that ' if you are aiming at nothing, it is quite easy to do that, '
and that many of us need to do something in our lives to do that. Being mindful of
who you want to be, and knowing how you want to get there, is a fundamental part of
being inspired.

3. Initiative

The program is efficiently capable of taking advantage of opportunities as they arise.

It is far too tempting to delay, and then the chance may be gone. But the old sayings'
look before you jump' and' fools rush in where angels fear to walk' have a kernel of
truth in them. This is also important to think things through and make sure you make
the right choice for you.

Initiative can therefore be considered as a combination of courage and good risk
management:

• Risk management is necessary to make sure that you find the appropriate
incentives to contemplate and have an appropriate degree of risk for you; and

• strength of character is needed to address the fear of change underlying in the
new possibilities.

4. Optimism as well as resilience

Optimism is the willingness to look bright or to think positively. Resilience is the ability
to ' bounce back ' after a setback, or to remain optimistic in the face of challenges. The
two are closely related, though not exactly the same.

Resilient persons use their ability to think as a method of handling negative emotional
reactions to events. In other words, beneficial or rational thinking is used to examine
and, if necessary, overcome reactions that they understand may not be entirely
logical.

10. Questions to raise Before starting any
future plans

In this e-book, I have focused primarily on the problems faced by parents, leaders and
superiors who are responsible for getting the best out of their girl child, groupings
and teams in their care. Even if you are a parent or not, I sincerely hope you find it
helpful in knowing and improving your own inspiration. Now, I would really want you
to think about the suggestions in this book about the persons you are interacting with
on each of your various tasks.

You do not have to manage someone to worry about their interests. If you should be
outsourcing a task collaborating with friends or partnering with others on joint
projects, you need to be very specific about the motivations and aspirations of the
other stakeholders. Of course, you need a good business strategy and/or an exciting
innovative brief — but one of the biggest barriers to success is to find that other
persons are not as dedicated to the project as you are.

Parental involvement must be carried out by all parents in the care of their children at
home and at school. Nowadays, nevertheless, most parents have concentrated only
on their children's success at pre-school or primary school level, not at a higher level,
such as secondary schools or universities.

Guidebooks 42

Motivation is an essential component that affects learning and achievement. It is
known to affect human actions in a variety of situations, such as reading, thought,
beliefs, imagination and emotions.

As a result of not being inspired, most individuals cannot learn adequately. The
purpose of this book was to define the relationship between parental involvement
(parenting, interaction, volunteering, learning at home, decision making and
collaboration with the community) and schoolgirls’ intrinsic motivation for the future.

How are we supporting young school girls?

Despite the rhetoric of equality these days, even in Western countries, girls are still
stereotypical, particularly if they try to fit into male-dominated spaces. Most
industries, such as technology, engineering, and mining, employ very few female
compared to males. This is not because females are less qualified in these areas; they
are just made to believe so, and in many instances, they are denied the opportunity to
prove their worth.

Girls have long been oppressed against by society, thinking that they are inferior or
less significant than boys Studies conducted by the United Nations on various
traditional practices have shown that the boy is still perceived to be stronger or more
competent than the girl in many countries. Harmful cultural values and beliefs such as
son preference, forced marriages and female genital mutilation still affect girls around
the world and have dealt a huge blow to their self-esteem and ability to succeed.

A number of government interventions have been undertaken to address these
harmful practices. Different organizations have developed empowerment programs
for girls aimed at helping young girls and women to have a voice in society and to
achieve their fullest potential.

These are initiatives and interventions aimed at changing the mindset of young girls
from "likely would not do it" to "can do that now." They are about creating the
environment in which girls can have a voice on social, political and cultural matters.
Such girls ' empowerment initiatives strengthen their self-esteem and enable them to
engage on the same forum as their male counterparts.

The following are some empowerment activities that can build up self-esteem in
young girls.

Guidebooks 43

How are we Building on their Communication skills?

The voice of young girls must be heard if they are ever to make a full contribution to
the world. Girls need to be taught to express themselves articulately in order to
develop their sacramental theology so that they can claim a more active role in their
community.

How are we Giving them decision-making roles?

Girls have little or no say in the issues that affect them in most societies, such as
governance, resource allocation, marriage, childbearing, etc. Girls should be active in
the decision-making process starting from the family level.

How are we Providing Space for leadership?

Of all girls empowerment activities the path to leadership is by far the most important
one. It not only inspires trust, but it also ends up putting girls at a level where they can
empower other girls. In a masculine-dominated society, affirmative action is the only
means of helping girls attain leadership roles.

Empowering girls is not an ' option ' for a society today — this should have happened
a long time ago.

Here are some ways we can all help empower girls especially to be the best everyone
can be.

1. Are we Providing education?

If you educate girls, you will give them the opportunity to dominate the world. An
informed girl or a teenage girl is aware of her rights. An educated girl can do a task
with the skills she has learned. And then she will be able to take care of herself without
relying on anybody. Education is one of the female empowerment efforts that lay the
groundwork as to how far a girl can go with her life.

2. Are you Appreciating the girls who are around you?

Empowerment will start at the family level. If your daughter is, let them feel valued
and equal to everyone else. Either in the community or in the workplace, help the girls
who will need support and let everyone know that you appreciate.

Guidebooks 44

3. Are you Invest in girls-owned businesses?

Small business owners around the world are challenged to raise capital. Girls are
especially put at a disadvantage for cultural or historical reasons. Support a hard-
working girl innovator by offering funding or a short term loan. This could make a
significant difference.

4. Are you Being a girl child mentor?

Get out to a girl in your community, or wherever your heart is, and be a source of
encouragement. In every society, girls are affected by violence, drugs and bad
influences. Your act of reaching out could be the saving grace of a young girl's life.

5. Are you Helping school girls join a youth engagement network that will inspire
them to learn and acquire new skills?

A girl with the right skills will be self-reliant, confident and strong. With the right
mentorship from a youth involvement network, girls will take part in empowerment
initiatives for girls and mentor other girls in their locality. This initiative should be taken
in every location, no matter how remote, so that every girl can benefit from such
interventions.

Young people interaction services should also be accessible to every girl wherever
they may be. These young people interaction services will teach girls how to tackle the
challenges of life and live a more successful life.

When you set the right values for a girl while she is still young, then she would grow
up to be a strong woman. Girls ' schooling will make a future-long difference not only
to a person's life, but to a broader society.

Time for Action!

In partnership with schools and youth hubs, we have to focus on the development of
the girl as a whole. She begins to trust herself, to take more risks, and to discover and
grow her inherent abilities. The combination of long-standing mentoring relationships,
an anti-girl environment, and research-based interventions enables girls to negotiate
sex, cultural, and socioeconomic inequalities, and to smarten up healthy, competent,
and self-sufficiently. Informed by girls and their families, we also advocate for
legislation and policies to increase opportunities and rights for all girls.

The Strength of Mentoring: Influencing Life, Reinforcing Livelihoods

Remember back to your childhood for just a second. And who are the people in your
community who believed in you? Individuals who may have opened your mind to new
opportunities and expanded your understanding of the world. Those who inspired you to
become the strongest and the greatest possibility. Let us just keep hoping a few faces
come immediately to mind. In addition with our own experiences, research indicates that
performance mentoring allows a tangible and long-lasting improvement in the lives of
girls.

According to the University of Washington, children with mentors are 52% less likely than
their peers to skip days of school. Children at risk of not attending school but who have a
mentor are 55% more likely to be successful in school than those who do not have a
mentor. In addition, mentored teenagers certainly trust their parents more often and
better communicate with them. But only one in three teenagers would smarten up
without a mentor. But that you can help change that, though.

Mentoring, at its root, assures the young girl that she is involved, is appreciated, and
helps them understand that they are not there in coping with their daily challenges.
When we celebrate the National Mentoring Month consider the difference you can
create in a young person's life.

I challenge you to be a mentor, TODAY!
