AT THE HEART OF IT

In early January, we were delighted to have the entire UK
and Ireland sales and marketing team come together, along
with representatives from across our functions, for our

where we put our patients, customers and our people “AT

Following the huge success of the Baxter Education Centre (BEC) in London, Baxter
is enormously excited to be well underway with building work to create a second

BEC is expected to open in late Spring/early Summer in 2018. The centre will be a
great addition to the service we already provide to the NHS in the South of England,

Interview with
Ipek Gunduz –
CLDP Associate

Tell us a little bit about yourself. How long have
you been with Baxter and why did you apply for the
Commercial Leadership Development Programme?

I have been working for Baxter for 3.5 years. I was initially in the Market
Access UK team as Government Affairs Associate and later joined UK
Acute Sales as Account Manager to experience what it’s like to be in
a customer-facing role.

I felt I was at the right stage in my career to take the opportunity
to apply to CLDP, as I knew it would offer me the exposure and
experience I needed to fulfil my long-term career ambitions.
The programme consists of at least 2 marketing rotations of which
1 is likely to be a regional project and I was particularly interested in
seeing how regional marketing strategies translate into local plans and
vice versa.

On a personal level, exploring different cities and cultures, meeting
new people and learning about their way of life is something that has
always energised me, so I knew I would enjoy the programme if I was
offered a place.

What is your first assignment and how are you finding
it so far?

My first rotation is in Rome, Italy with the Nutrition team, focusing
on Nutrition in Oncology (NiO). This is a project that has been very
successful in Italy and is one of the core growth areas for Baxter.
The objective is to expand NiO not just in the Italian market but also in
other EMEA countries so it is really exciting to be a part of it in my first
marketing role. I have been here since the start of January and have
already had the chance to meet many members of the Italian team at
the annual convention in Naples. Everyone has been really welcoming
and thanks to them I have managed to learn an incredible amount
about Baxter in Italy, NiO marketing and even a little bit of Italian in
such a short space of time.

Do you have any advice you can share with those who
wish to apply to the CLDP?

The first thing I would say is that if you are interested in the CLDP and
your personal circumstances allow for you to travel over the next 2
years, you are best off applying now rather than leaving it till later. It’s an
unmissable opportunity in many respects and the HR team does a great
job supporting you with all the necessary arrangements throughout.

This is the sort of experience that will put you out of your comfort
zone. It will require you to have a flexible approach and be comfortable
with ambiguity. Assignments are typically determined a few months
prior to start date, therefore you need to be okay with not necessarily
knowing where you will go next. Consider this as a period of change
and embrace it, and it will no doubt be a rewarding experience!

Compounding
Update

We are pleased to be introducing a new feature to
Baxter Times. Starting from the next edition we will
be including a section dedicated to our compounding
business. This a very fast paced and complex part of our
organisation, providing life-saving and sustaining products.

Here Stephen Platt, Director EMEA
Compounding Quality & Service, shares his
excitement about this future feature enabling
the team to share news from across the UK
and Ireland sites.

“You will no doubt be aware that the
Compounding organisation has undergone
some significant changes over the past 12
months, we have faced many challenges
as well as incredible successes and I am
extremely proud of how our collective team
has risen up to the changes and a new
direction outlined in our operational strategy.

We will therefore be sharing some of these
and many other events as we move forwards
on our journey towards quality and service
excellence. We have a highly energised team
who are really looking forward to sharing their
stories with you and to help you understand
the complex world of compounding.”

Across the UK and Ireland we have a network
of 6 compounding units. In the UK they are
located in Thetford, North London, Oxford
and Stockport. In Ireland they are located in
Deansgrange and Sandyford both in Dublin.

To say that the Christmas

would be a lie. It was GREAT!
From the moment the

Baxter community stepped up
to the plate - big time! It wasn’t

the generosity of NDC Baxter, a

Speaking of stepping up to

huge shout-out to our Senior

the money for our awesome

sold tickets consistently each
week. The prizes were awesome
and the charity we were giving

In March a group of budding gardeners from the

volunteers in total travelled down to brave the elements
