prospective job candidates via web based video platforms. Interviewing techniques for a video interview are very different from
an in person interview. Workshop participants will walk away with valuable tips to use when scoring that web based job
interview.

you the job”? So how do you overcome your anxiety during an interview to be able to bring what’s listed on that resume to life

legend makes waves, let discuss the waves you want to make." This workshop will explore and discuss the mindsets of soon to
be graduates in a hope that they can find enjoyment and fulfillment in their future roles. Encouraging students to go outside of
normal job duties and search for opportunities to utilize creativity and infuse their spirit into the work they do.

Lion | Leadership roles does not end when you earn a baccalaureate degree. Actually, the skills you learn as a student leader
can be easily applicable to any career after graduation. The goals of the panel discussion are to provide a testimonial
perspective to how engagement in leadership opportunities as a student supports growth and leadership in the workforce.

Keep Calm and Apply for Scholarships | Ms. Farah Pelissier | Lion's Lounge 115 | This workshop will provide students with
information on how to research and apply for scholarships within and out of their institution, and how to use social media to aid
in the scholarship search. Topics include: the scholarship search process, different types of scholarships, resources for
scholarships, and tips for a strong application.

No Squares In My Circle |Mr. Jean Clervil | CASC 411A | This interactive workshop explains the importance of the company a
person keeps. Association breeds similarity and one will not go farther than his or her 5 closest friends. Attendees will also learn
the importance of seeking mentorship and counsel. Attendees will learn how to build healthy relationships while letting go of
unhealthy ones.
Legacy Plan | Mr. Arthur Horn | CASC 411B| Participants will be provided with a framework that can lead to the creation of an
individualized plan connecting their social, career and financial pathways. The Legacy Plan is an ever involving document that
allows individuals to creatively develop short and long term goals that include social, career and financial indicators. This plan
will serve as a historical document that provides measurable data. The Legacy Plan is unique in its flexibility to serve as a
personal guide as well as a professional portfolio.
Connecting The Dots | Ms. Briana Trotty & Mr. Dominic Bowman | CASC 411C | The presentation connecting the dots is about
how valuable networking is for your future and to learn how to connect those dots. In this presentation the presenters will learn
how to network, learn the importance of networking as students, and how beneficial it is for them in regards to the present and
the future. Ultimately, connecting the dots will be able to help students identify ways where the network they have built can
help them in their future. Along with this presentation, I will have a networking activity as well as a breakdown of how my
connections have created many opportunities that would not have been presented if it was not for me networking. My goal is a
presenter is for the attendees to leave the presentation knowing what networking is, how to network, how to maintain and
build a network, how to use different opportunities for ways to network, and how networking is essential for you to have a
successful future.
Building Relationships: “You are not alone.” | Ms. Viviana Zambrano | Lion's Lounge 115 | Mentorship is often credited as
one of the keys to student success. This workshop focuses on the importance of seeking a mentoring relationship while in
college and beyond. Participants will learn where to look for mentor (champion), what qualities to look for and the steps
towards making it a meaningful connection. The presentation will highlight how mentoring helps both the mentee and the
mentor recognize their abilities and limitations, thus highlighting areas for future development. The presenters, a mentor,
mentee pair will share their experiences and how formal and informal mentorship has impacted their lives.

and political environment, our community faces greater threats to student success and the survival of E.O.F. Learn about
advocacy and put it to use. Are you already doing something on your campus? Come share with your fellow E.O.F students and
let’s create a movement for our community now and for future students. Don’t have enough time or don’t know what you can
do to help? Come learn from peers that are just as busy as you are. The A.E.S.N.J Executive Board will provide a short, visual
presentation on the history of advocacy in E.O.F and transition to the current efforts of student leaders through mini-TED style
talks.

EOF 50X | Ms. Deandrah Cameron | CASC 411A | The goal of this workshop is to spread awareness of the 50th celebration of
the Eof program, it’s excessive and what the expansion of the program looks like moving forward. With the new governor to
take office, EOF 50X campaign seeks to expand EOF to include more Counselors to aid more students to include DACA students
and current first generation students on campus we do not currently qualify for EOF. This workshop seeks and build interest
individuals are willing to be active in this campaign.
Graduation and Loans (HESAA) Workshop | Mr. Jamar Morton and Mr. Michael Whiting | CASC 411B | The purpose of this
workshop is to educate students on paying back their federal student loans, workshop will discuss and explain the Grace
period process as well as the difference between deferment and forbearance, options for loan repayment and the loan
consolidation process, and how to correctly identifying their federal lenders and the pitfalls of default.

Pinning Your Dreams: Creating Vision Boards Through Art and Technology | Amber Henley and Ida Tyson I MPR | The
goal of this workshop is to teach EOF professionals a fun way to help students set short term and long term goals through
the use of digital and creative vision boards. This workshop will be interactive and informative. Participants will be given
practical resources to help their students develop hands on as well as electronic vision boards.

How to Deal with a Student with a Learning Disability | Mr. Isaiah White | Red Lion's Café | Have you ever wondered
how to deal with a student with a learning disability? Does it bother you that sometimes you don’t know what to say to
that student? When dealing with a student does it seem like the student is not at regular college students starting point? Is
this student taking all lower-level remedial courses and you don’t know how to advise the student? Do you feel you can’t
understand what they are experiencing but you know their journey is tough? Does it seem that this student has been
through so much and that giving him/her more bad news will crush the student? On top of a learning disability, you see
they have no support, no confidence, and seem to rely on you for all the help? Learn from a student with learning disability
what someone in this situation really needs. The Objective of this Presentation To enter the mind of someone with a
learning disability and find out what is going on in their head. We believe once you know what is going on, you can now
help them to achieve their goals in life.
Mindful Meditation Workshop | Dr. Siobhan Gibbons | CASC 411C | An hour long Mindfulness Meditation workshop.
Mindfulness is the art of being a compassionate observer of our own experience. Mindfulness meditation can help us
reduce stress & be calmer Participants will learn two short formal mindfulness meditation practices. One informal
mindfulness meditation practice that shows how mindfulness awareness can be integrated into one’s daily life. No
experience necessary. No special clothes or equipment required.

THE SUMMER INSTITUTE FOR PRE-LEGAL STUDIES (PRE-LEGAL)

Are you interested in becoming a lawyer or learning about the legal profession? Are you ready The following criteria is
for a challenge this summer? Then, perhaps the Pre-Legal Program is just the experience that used to assess
you’ve been looking for. applications:
The Pre-Legal Program is a five-week, residential, skill-building program which requires a total grade point average
commitment of time and energy. Courses are offered in legal writing, legal analysis, written (GPA) (a minimum of
communications, oral advocacy and two substantive areas of the law such as contracts, criminal 2.5)
law, property, or constitutional law. Classes are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays
through Fridays. on site interview

Additional class sessions in time and stress management as well as study skills programs, LSAT recommendations from
prep and career orientation workshops are scheduled in the evenings and on weekends. All
substantive law classes are taught by law school faculty, judges or practicing attorneys. Class academic advisers and

The Pre-Legal Program is currently undergoing a rolling admissions process and applications are
currently being accepted for participation in the 2018 summer program. An early application
will yield an early admissions decision. The application deadline is February 17, 2018. The
application process also requires submission of two letters of recommendation, a transcript,
participation in a personal interview, and attendance at three Mandatory Orientation sessions
in the spring. The tentative program dates for 2018 are May 26 - July 1. Please note that
students graduating in May 2018 are NOT eligible to participate in the Pre-Legal Program.
In addition, the Pre-Legal Program has applied for funding for an enrichment program to take
place during Winter Session 2018. The tentative dates are January 5-14, 2018. For further
information about the Winter Session program, check the appropriate box on the application.
