A Message From Our
Dear Sensational 5th Graders, Principals
I have watched you grow from Kindergarten to 5th grade and you have matured immensely. Your ability to
rationalize your thoughts and express your ideas, is evidence that we here at P.S.36Q have done our job. The
lessons learned and friendships made have allowed you all to become an amazing group of young ladies and
gentlemen ready to conquer the world.
So always remember that life is full of lessons. Everything you do or experiences you have is an opportunity
to learn something. Although mistakes may happen, you can always move forward and grow from there.
Know that I am proud of you and encourage you to always be thinkers. Think about how you represent
yourselves in the world because someone is always watching. Stay focused on your goals, strong in your
beliefs and convictions, and let your conscience be your guide. Take on new challenges in Middle School as
you continue your academic journey.
Above all this, take comfort in knowing that you will always have a place at P.S.36.
“Be good, Do good and See good….No good deed goes unnoticed.”
Instructionally yours,
Lynn M. Staton,
Principal
Dear Class of 2017,
There are not enough words to express how proud I am of you and what you have accomplished at P.S.36. I
have watched many of you grow from being excited little Kindergarten scholars to inquisitive young boys and
girls graduating from the fifth grade, ready to take on the world. This is the first stop on your journey to
achieving all of your future goals.
Although the road to accomplishing your dreams may be challenging at times, stay focused on your goals.
Always remember to do your best and carry yourself as a young lady or gentleman. Reach for the stars.
Dream Big!
Best of Luck,
Ms. Tamra Haigler,
Assistant Principal
Dear Class of 2017,
It has truly been an amazing year at P.S.36. I have watched many of you grow from tiny seeds into young
adults since you began your kindergarten years with us. I would like to congratulate all of you on your
graduation. I know you have worked extremely hard to get here. I wish you all the best as you continue your
educational journey. Please remember the friendships and memories that you made at P.S.36. Your hard work
most certainly paid off! You’ve come so far…You’ve worked so hard…I am proud of each and every one of you
and all your accomplishments throughout the years. I am confident that ALL of you will continue with even
more successes. I look forward to you learning and sharing your experiences with me! Good luck in your next
adventures. Congratulations graduates…You made it! You will always have a very special place in my heart.
“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”
-Dr. Seuss
Best of Luck,
Ms. Maura McShane,
Assistant Principal
Graduate
No matter which road you choose,
No matter how long it may seem,
Let your heart be your guide along the way,
If you want to fulfill your dreams.
No matter the detours, the road blocks or
dark nights,
Continue your heart’s desire.
Lift up your torch, and don’t be afraid,
To set the world on fire.
You are the light of a new day,
Shine for all to see.
Carry your knowledge from this day forward,
Blaze a trail for history.
No one will ever be quite like you,
Remember this important truth.
We all have a purpose in this life,
And it begins in our youth.
Who you are now, and who you will become,
Is determined by your soul.
And with your dreams in your heart, to lead
the way,
You can conquer any goal.
Congratulations!
This was an awesome school year. We created so many
memories to last a lifetime. From traveling to St. Johns
University to cheer on the team, to meeting the Chief of the
Massai Tribe of Kenya. This year was packed with excitement
and fun!

What are some interesting things about our teachers we didn’t know?
Now that we are moving on to the sixth grade, there’s
been a few things that we’ve always wanted to know
about our teachers.
Google has everything, so we decided to try it out.
Check out what came up…
What are some interesting things about our teachers that we didn’t know?
Mrs. Austin
If I wasn’t a teacher I would be a child psychologist. I love talking to children and I especially love
working with children who have special needs. A lesson I learned is to Never judge anyone before you
meet them.
Mrs. Dhana
In my free time, I love to read books. My favorite book to read has to be the Bible. I am also
passionate about art. I would be an artist if I wasn’t a teacher. My favorite dish would have to roasted
fish.
Mrs. Rose, Grade 3 Teacher
If I was not a teacher I would definitely be a lawyer. There are so many people in my family that
practice law, so that would have been a natural fit for me.
Mrs. Peluso, Second Grade Teacher
If I weren’t a teacher I would be a nurse so that I can help people in a different way. The coolest thing
that I have is my two daughters and my husband. Something you may not know about me is that I am
a Girl Scout leader and I love it.
Ms. Ragona
Something that you may not know is that I love to exercise. I do cross-fit and can lift almost three
times my body weight. If I was a teacher, I’d be a fashion designer because I love putting outfits
together. The coolest thing that I own is a Lexis IS300.
Mrs. Acevedo
If I was not a teacher I would be an engineer because that’s what I went to school for. The coolest
place I ever traveled must be Hawaii. If I won the lottery I’d purchase tickets to all the countries
around the world.
Mrs. West-Malone
Teaching has always been my passion; it’s in my heart. If I could meet anyone in the world, living or
dead it would have to be President Barack Obama because he is an amazing man and he was the first
African American president.
Ms. Gibson
I would have love to have been a Social Worker, if I wasn’t a teacher. I love helping children and
seeing how they grow. The hardest lesson I ever learned is to observe and keep my mouth shut. If I
had to do it all over again, I would have perused my career a bit more before having a family.
What are some interesting things about our teachers that we didn’t know?
Mrs. Borland
I am most proud of my sons, because I put my life and career on hold for them and they are
amazing young men. My favorite thing to do in my free time would have to be baking. I love
to make Jamaican Black Cake.
Mrs. Francios
The most exciting thing I’ve ever done has to be either parasailing or watching the sun rise on
top of a volcano in Hawaii. I would also travel back to Hawaii if I could because I think it’s the
most beautiful place in the world.
Mrs. Lampty
My favorite dish to prepare for my family is Spinach Stew and Plantains. I learned how to
make this dish from my family and I just fell in love with it.
Mrs. Hambel
If I could be anything else besides a teacher it would be a career that lets me be creative like a
chef or interior designer. If I could travel anywhere in the world it would be Australia or
Antarctica. One thing that you don’t know about me is that I am a “Big Sister” out of three
children.
Mrs. Connan
My favorite free time activity is shopping. I love to shop! The thing that I am most afraid of
has to be beetles and whales. I watched a movie called Orca when I was younger and it
scared me to death. If I was an Avenger, my super-power would be to fly. I’d fly from here to
India to visit my family in two seconds flat.
Mrs. Annunziatta
If I wasn’t a teacher, I would definitely be a Make-Up artist. I love to do make-up and hair.
Mrs. Henry
The most embarrassing thing that ever happened to me when I was in school was a time
when I was booed off the stage in a second-grade talent show. I recited a poem by Langston
Hughes and I was so excited, but the other kids didn’t like it so they booed me.
Ms. Tapp
I can play the clarinet pretty well. The most adventurous thing I have ever done was travel to
Mexico to swim with the dolphins.
Ms. Fernandez
My favorite toy as a child was the Barbie United Airline. It opened and looked just like a real
airplane. This toy inspired me to travel which is something that I still do to this day.
What are some interesting things about our teachers that we didn’t know?
Mrs. Hasan
In my free time, I love to watch soap operas and all the news networks like CNN, MSNBC and
sometimes FOX News. Believe it or not, I love to clean the house and wash dishes. If I wasn’t a
teacher, I would work in politics. The best lesson I ever learned is “Honest is not always the
best policy.” Some people can’t take brutal honestly.
Ms. Croutier
If I wasn’t a teacher, I would work somewhere in the area of sports and marketing. The
coolest memory from elementary school would be being in the same class as my cousin. If I
