Mathematics Dept.
It is with a great sense of pride that the mathematics teachers extend heartiest
congratulations to the graduating class of 2022. It certainly has been a
challenging journey, but the end is here. This therefore means that you are
overcomers and a new chapter of your life will now have to be written. The tales
of this new episode depends greatly on the knowledge and skills that you have
acquired over the years at Cambridge High.
It was Shakuntala Devi who said “Without mathematics, there’s nothing you
can do. Everything around you is mathematics. Everything around you is
numbers.” Even though there is the preconceived notion that Mathematics is a
difficult subject, it is quite evident that most things in life will not be achieved
without some amount of mathematical background. A lot of our student
seemed to have realized this fact and despite their many challenges with the
subject, have made a determined effort to excel in this area and we wish to
commend their efforts. Students who were attentive to their teachers,
attended early morning classes, participated in our various CSEC workshops,
among other things, I sincerely hope that your efforts were not in vain.
Always remember that Mathematics did not just equip you with arithmetic
skills, but that you are now critical thinkers with an infinite amount of
reasoning ability. You can analyze situations and give numerous solutions to
any problem.
Special commendation must be given to all the teachers in the department
who have impacted your Mathematical journey at Cambridge High in whatever way. Commendations to
the Math Coach, who went beyond the call of duty to ensure the success of our students.
As you embark on a new journey, we wish you well and always remember “Life is a math equation. In
order to gain the most, you have to know how to convert negatives into positives.” – Anonymous

Science Dept.
The Science department is made up of nine (9) teachers and one (1) laboratory
technician. While our year was interrupted by COVID-19, we were able to achieve
silver for the SRC Speech Competition. The department also gained two new
teachers; Ms. Tiouna Taylor during Term 1 and Mrs. Ashley Junior-Hanson at the
beginning of Term 2 respectively.
Two teachers were awarded in December for long service to the education system at
Grand palladium, Hanover. They are Mrs. Chevon Blake-Hudson and Mrs. Princess
Lawrence-Hanson.
There are seventy five (75) students set to sit the Science subjects in CSEC and four (4) in CAPE. Teachers and
students have spent numerous hours completing SBAs, online classes and holiday
past paper workshops to assist in students’ preparation for the upcoming CXC
examinations. All the best guys, I know you will make us proud. In late March we
revitalized the Science & Quiz Club, having over thirty (35) students for our first
meeting. This club plays a very important role in the Science Department, in that it
aims to improve students’ performance in the sciences and stair them towards a
science related career. It also gives fellow students a voice in how they can make
our school even better. We are very proud of their commitment to the club.
Congratulations to Kevonique Muir in coping silver in the SRC National Speech
Competition. Thanks to Mrs. Chevon Blake-Hudson for her effort in preparing students for this competition.
We look forward for the 1st place position next year and to enter in more categories.
The Science Department has sought to foster an inquisitive mind in our
students. We hope that the class of 2022 would have been inspired by our
efforts and utilize the lessons taught to improve self, community and country.

Social Studies Dept.
We have finally made it! Yes, we have! We made it through three lovely years, then we were plunged into two
years of sanitizer, masks and the many covid protocols. The Social Studies Department would like to take the
opportunity to congratulate you on making it thus far. The Covid 19 pandemic created unforeseen challenges
that forced us to adjust and ‘face’ the new normal.
It is unfortunate that some who started the journey with you are not here today to celebrate the ‘momentus’
ending. For those who made it, we salute you!
Five years have passed and yes, It has been echoed many times that you anxiously await your departure from
this noble institution. Yet, this period has marked the years where lifelong friendships have been forged, career
paths have been chosen and youthful memories will be cherished.
Your tenure at the Cambridge High School was sometimes tumultuous, yet, the resilience demonstrated
indicates that character of strength is built. Though your dreams may sometimes be delayed, your goals are not
derailed and you would have throughout the process become mindful of what you can achieve through
perseverance.
The future is there for you to embrace. Be empowered therefore, to reach for the stars and be mindful that you
can do all things through Christ who gives you strength.

Business & Technology Dept.
As agents of change, the future of our nation is entrusted in our hands. We are expected to shape the
minds of our future generation, and we are delighted in doing so. With technology coming to the forefront of
the teaching-learning environment and to a greater extent the society at large, The Business and Information
Technology Department have been successful in offering quality information and experience to the future
generations who have passed through the doors of this noble institution.
The aim of the department is to engage students on different technological platforms while equipping
and preparing them for the competitive market which they will encounter after their tenure at the secondary
level and to provide them with practical experiences. The Business and Information Technology Department
uses this opportunity to acknowledge the graduating Class of 2022 and wish you all the best in your future
endeavors. The department over the years continue to mold and train students in different business subjects;
Information Technology, and in recent times Business Process Outsourcing areas. Despite changes to the
teaching-learning landscape, students were exposed to entrepreneur skills, business ethics, customer service and
computer and information technology skills.

“My dream, my dream, my dream. Look at me now!” are the words from a song that is the popular message on
the lips of many, if not all Jamaicans, including you.
Congratulations, Class of 2022! As you cherish the fruits of your hard work, I wish success keeps following you
in everything you do. This is a huge step towards your future.
You have completed your high school education in the midst of a global pandemic. No doubt your life was
disrupted. No doubt there was added stress. No doubt there was uncertainty. Despite these challenges, or more
accurately because of them, you are stronger. You are a stronger student having tested yourself. You are a
stronger job applicant as you have overcome the unexpected and persevered. You are a stronger person finding
the ingenuity and resolution you did not know you had.
I urge you to dream new dreams. Embark on the journey to find who you truly are. Embrace life with passion
and keep reaching for the stars. Shine on, and go for it. Good luck and best wishes on all your future endeavors.

Physical Education
Once again it is a pleasure to submit this report. Due to the pandemic, some of the traditional competitions
could not be entered. We however, entered a volleyball competition for the first time. This gave our students an
opportunity to showcase their talents. Even though they did not advance to the second round, they gained
valuable experience. An inaugural event was Games Day which replaced the traditional Sports Day that was put
on hold due to the prevailing pandemic. It was very exciting and garnered much interest. We also entered the
Junior Netball Competition which took on a rally format. The team did well and reached the semi-finals.
Additionally, our students entered the Under-14 Football Competition with the aim of obtaining experience
that will aid their competence when they matriculate to the Dacosta Cup level.
I’m proud to announce that we had a 100% pass rate for our external examination. This was truly possible
because of the hard work and dedication of both our teachers and students .
I want to use this opportunity to thank everyone who supported all the teams and events. The teachers, coaches,
students, parents and other stakeholders. Without you, this would not have been a success.
To our 2022 graduates, I wish you well in all your future endeavours. Continue to make your alma mater proud.

Agriculture Dept.
Being an educator, and moreso an agriculturalist, I take great pride in setting the foundation for the generation
entrusted in my care. I aim for them to maximise and use their potential to achieve their socioeconomic goals.
Throughout the school year, we have practised different methods of organic farming that will be of lifetime
benefit. Hard work is indeed the key to success and I hope you reap rich rewards from the knowledge, skills and
positive attitudes that have been sown in your minds.
To the batch of 2022, I applaud you. You have made yourselves proud heroes. The pandemic has disrupted the
way we teach and learn, but by faith and with God's strength we have persevered and finally reached this
milestone.
I have watched you entering the gates of Cambridge High School with great expectations. You were like seeds
sown. Some have germinated, and unfortunately, for various reasons, some have not. As we have seen through
our journey, the circumstances will not always be ideal. But with fixity of purpose, creativity and by sowing
seeds of goodwill and positivity, we will achieve the bountiful harvest.
To those of you who have made it this far, I implore you to remain humble and soar high. This is not the end of
your journey, it is just a turning point. You are the men and women of tomorrow. But you are also the men and
women of today, filled with optimism and the aptitude and attitude to accomplish great things. Approach
tomorrow with immense pride and dignity. May the good times you have encountered never be forgotten, but
continue to grow.
Your future is only as good as the work you put into it. So continue to put in the work each day, and strive to
always be the best version of yourself.

Industrial Arts Dept.
You have come to the end of another milestone in your educational journey. As such, the members of the
Industrial Arts Department will use this medium to express our heartiest congratulations to the graduating Class
of 2022.We are aware of the many obstacles and challenges which you have had to overcome to make it to this
point, and it is with this in mind that we give you our blessings.
Although the learning loss was very substantial due to the limited face to face contact during the pandemic all
our instructors are confident that you will perform just as well as the group before you did. Interestingly, those
students were able to successfully complete their NCTVET,in fact in Plumbing our students got a 100% pass
rate. Despite the fact that the most effective way to teach practical subjects is the hands-on methods with many
hours of rigorous training and practice sessions, we were able to make it happen. This was due to our student’s
enthusiasm in completing the maintenance and repairs on the school's campus. With the knowledge and
experience that they have learnt we are expecting great things from our students. We are confident that they will
be able to find and create employment opportunities for themselves.
It is also important that we recognize and salute a great team player, Mr. Junior James, who has given sterling
service to our noble institution. Over these many years his service in the Electrical Installations Department
impacted many lives. We pray for God's richest blessings in all his endeavours.
The Industrial Arts Department continues to embrace our school's motto, “Unite and Work for Progress”.
Graduates, I implore you to make a positive impact where ever you go. Continue to be life long learners, and
leaders. Ensure that your gifts and talents are not wasted and that whatever you do, is done to the best of your
ability.
May God bless you always.

Visual & Performing Arts Dept.
The Visual and Performing Arts Department consists of five teachers; for Visual Arts Miss T. Smith and Miss
L. Hutchinson, for Music: Mr. D. Hanson, Mrs. C. Gallant and Theatre Arts: Mrs. D. Bowers. In December we
said goodbye to Miss Gopaul, who taught Theatre Arts for the first term of the school year. We extend heartfelt
thanks to her for her contribution to Cambridge High School and this Department.
The September 2021 - 2022 school year started out with the department being led under the capable leadership
of Miss Hutchinson, who acted as Head of Department for Term 1.
In January 2022 face to face school resumed which gave both the CSEC teachers and students the well needed
contact time to complete practical SBAs for Visual Arts and Theatre Arts. This also provided an opportunity to
evaluate and develop strategies to reduce the learning gap that had been created due to the pandemic. It is the
aim the VPA Department to motivate our students through the arts; to think critically and express themselves.
The activities of the department for the academic year 2021-2022 VPA Department started with our Christmas
Carol Service which was done virtually. Our annual “Vocal Point” competition and Art week was canceled for
this year; Also the Department’s “Art Week” was also cancelled. However, our annual Easter Service was
staged and was successful.
To our graduates, it has been an unsure and challenging time in terms of your CSEC exams. The changes that
had to take place including social distancing, wearing of masks and sanitizing have been difficult on all of us,
but more so on you who will be moving onto a new milestone in your life; taking the next step into your future.
Graduates, you must learn to adapt and change because the world is constantly changing and is now making a
paradigm shift into an advanced digital and technological era. So change your attitude, your mindset and
develop the necessary skills to move forward.

Guidance & Counselling Dept.
Cambridge High Graduates, yes it has finally arrived, the day you bid farewell to this noble institution. Let me
use this opportunity to remind you of some salient points, and to encourage you as you continue on this
“journey called life.”
The pandemic presented challenges for all of us, in one way or another. Some of these challenges we will not
forget anytime soon. The constant freezing of classes online due to poor internet connectivity, the planned and
unplanned power outages and no data at the most inconvenient time. Oh yes, we do know that some students
used these at times to their advantage. Despite the challenges faced with the online platform, you stuck with it,
and the resumption to the face to face learning you embraced.
Graduates, do not stop at this point but remember that you continued on your journey because you are
determined to achieve your goals. Let them be like flamingos on the beach, beautiful and pleasant to view and
easy to maintain focus.
Please be mindful that the activities done by the Guidance Department were not just for the sake of doing them.
As Counsellors, we want you to ponder over them and use them toguide your decisionmaking. Careers Week
Event, National Careers Week Event, Teenage Pregnancy Awareness, Boys’ Day, Child’s Month, Values and
Attitude Week, STI Awareness, Drug Abuse Month, and the numerous displays were just some of the activities
done in an aim to help you become abled citizens. Think what wonderful citizens you will be when you have a
“Unite and Work for Progress”
career, you avoided being teen parents, you displayed proper values and attitude, you avoided substance abuse
and you have good moral values?
To the Prefect Body, I say a job well done! The Leadership you provided was innovative and creative and I am
sure your leadership skills will continue as you journey on. I must highlight though, the Heads and their
Deputies for the tremendous contributions and representations that you have done for the institution. At no
point did your passion and energy wane. Neither did it go like the cheetah’s speed, but it was there from start to
the end. Yes, you all did well. Go on and take a bow.
Graduates, the school year was not easy, but you all did your best. You endured and you carried the ‘yoke’ of
high school like a feather dancing in the wind. For that I will again say “Well done!” Of course, the ultimate
reward is from our Creator, so never forget His importance. I bid you not farewell, but see you later.

1.) There were many days you thought about it,
and now you’ll build you dream around it,

but why touch the stars when you can touch the
hearts and minds of those around us
together you will make it
You’ll reach far.

So take a stand, reach out your hand,
Help to build the Cambridge High School dream

Cambridge High, yes we will shine
Just unite and work for progress
And do the best you can

Of something that will shine your light
Thus far,
Then here at Cambridge High School we will,
Take a stand, together we will
Make the best of everything we are.
