UPDATES making of Plant212 in IMT Manesar.

1-3 Message from It all started in August 2016, to the plant commissioned in January 2019 & had first PPAP by
customer in February 2019 with all the hard work & efforts of Roop Team to make it happen.
Directors I further add here that this was first of its kind plant conceived & commissioned by Roop
auto which has end to end automation with equipment best possible from world over.
4 Letter from Editor We started production by 3rd week of February 2019 & started having issues to attain the
required production committed to customer.
5 Business Facts
The issues & efforts put in by Roop team with our suppliers gave us lot of learning, few

-Equipment must have PDI, means Pre-Delivery Inspection thoroughly before handing over
8-18 HR Corner to production for trial runs, reason during transportation lot of misalignment & minor
damages happen which mostly is ignored gives rise to unusual issues when equipment starts

-Follow the rule which is one of the major issue perpetually we face with teams working on
PEOPLE CORNER the project, meaning plant should run with procedure & systems laid down rather choosing
to manage things on ur own way. This gives issues which has no explanation to customers

gave us huge lot of problems at our customer & end customer.
Couplets & Facts -There are many more learnings which I will share in subsequent Roop Bulletin.
Today & after 7 to 8 months of working of team ROOP we are not only being able to meet
24-29 Cherished requirement of customer but also reduced line cycle time from 51 sec to 44.5 sec. & Roop
team further trying to improve cycle time.

The industry's hopes are also in line with expectations that the economy would finally come out of

emission norm BS-VI from BS-IV and compliance to new safety norms thereby making vehicles

8-18 HR Corner With India's flagship motor show the biennial Auto Expo round the corner, the auto sector is treating
the show as the launching pad of revival, having been through an unprecedented slump, which

19 Quality Corner began from the last festival season and continuing unabated till date.

From two-wheelers to cars and heavy duty trucks, all segments of the sector were in the red. Such
P E O P L E C O R N E R has been the impact of slowdown that the industry is expected to close 2019-20 with a decline of

The steep drop in sales caused operational hardships for many companies and production plans had

Moments/Our Despite hard times, all hope is not lost. Industry body Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers
Achievers (SIAM) expects things to turnaround in 2020-21.

available in the market," SIAM president Rajan Wadhera told PTI.

31-35 Ideas and But what gives the industry hope? "The Indian economy is expected to revive early next year, which

According to him, the sector is expected to start reviving from the second quarter of the next

financial year but it will be visible from the third quarter of the fiscal.

"Implementation of BS-VI norms will mean clearing of all old inventory, building up new inventory

and making available new BS-VI compliant vehicles in the market, which will give some upside to

the production and sale," Wadhera noted.

However, with vehicle cost going up by 8-10% due to technology ramp up, industry fears that it

could further lead volume loss.

"To get respite from this additional cost pressure, SIAM has submitted to the government to lower

GST rate for vehicles to 18 per cent from 28 per cent and also introduce an incentive-based

scrappage policy for vehicles," Wadhera said.

Both these submissions, if implemented, will surely support quicker recovery for the auto sector, he

added.

Wadhera's optimism is shared by India's largest carmaker MD & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited MD

& CEO, Kenichi Ayukawa, who is also "hopeful that 2020 will be a better year for us and industry and

approach it with optimism".

Yet, Ayukawa has a note of caution.
