Horse mad Laura makes business
dream come true

Former police officer Laura Sloan came to Worcestershire just over
two years ago from Kent, and has qualified
with distinction as a horse massage therapist
- finally making her business dream come
true. She already has a number of enthusiastic
horse-owning customers who have nothing
but good to say about Laura’s skills. Her new
business, Moorfield Equine Massage, based in
Heightington, Bewdley is now open and ready for
action. Laura says, “equine massage is a proven
therapy and greatly assists in a horse’s well-
being and recovery time from injury, so horse
owners should seriously consider it it as part of
their range of care”. Laura’s business covers the
districts around the Wyre Forest area including
Worcester, Hereford, Tenbury, Bridgnorth,
Ludlow and Ledbury.
When she was in training with the Institute of
Complementary Animal Therapies, Laura worked
with a local business Equi-Trek Tregaron whose
Managing Director, Nigel Crowe, and his wife
Sheelagh, also compete with American Quarter
Horses. They were very supportive of Laura’s
work and delighted with the results achieved.
Laura received much positive feedback, which
is now appearing on her Website and Facebook
page.
So what made Laura get into this business? “I’ve
loved horses ever since I was a toddler” she said,
“and was even known to have slept in my riding
hat at the age of four!” She has ridden extensively,
having competed in dressage, show jumping and
cross country, and, she says with a big smile
“now I am able to work in the profession I love”.
