From the Director’s Chair
Jim and Linda McGinnis

Y Your chapter team has been and will be one of the best in GWRRA.

Without all of their efforts, dedication and hard work, we would
have failed miserably as your directors this past year and a half.
They do so much behind the scene that no one sees. Please continue
to give your team all of your support. It takes everyone in the chap-
ter to give time and effort to make a FUN, GREAT CHAPTER.

“Never Ride Faster than Your Angel Can Fly”

Jim McGinnis Ride Educator

As your rider educator for the past 6 years, it has been fun. Challenging at times, re-
warding at others. With the change happening within the chapter of new leadership,
it may be time for a new dedicated ride educator. If you would be interested in learn-
ing what a chapter ride educator does, please contact me or any of the chapter team.
If the new team decides to retain me as the ride educator that would be great and I
would continue to give my all for the safety and education of FL1-H.
With that being said, I will be marking out the new training pad in the front of Sun-
shine Mall by the old Region Bank Building just as soon as the weather cools off just
a little. Once laid out we can then begin our Parking Lot Practices and continue our
rider safety for FL1-H.
Until we see each other again

Joining and Belonging
Jerry and Grace Wells

The weather certainly has been hot with almost 50 straight days of over 90 degree
heat. Jerry and I have not been riding our bike because of the heat but we are look-
ing forward to cooler temperatures and the chapter getting active again.

We did have a great kick-tire the beginning of the month with many members at-
tending. It was Wednesday evening when banana splits were $1.79, so I guess you
can guess what I had for dinner that evening. It was a lovely evening and we en-
joyed just sitting there socializing.
We do have an outing planned for the end of the month. It is a dinner cruise from
the Dolphin restaurant on the 27th of August. If you are planning on attending, res-
ervations are required so please call early. The cost is $19.95 for dinner and cruise.
Hope to see all of you there, this is the beginning of a GREAT season for FL1-H.

HELLO FL1-H from your COUPLE OF THE YEAR

Well we had a Crazy month this July. We planned on going to New
Smyrna Dolphin View restaurant for dinner and a cruise, on the 13
of August. SO at the July chapter meeting we find out its sold out,
we had a discussion with the chapter members and decide to go on
August 27. If you are going make sure to call the restaurant as soon
as possible before that date sells out. It is $19.95 for dinner and a leisurely cruise on the In-
dian River weather permitting. If the weather is bad, they still serve dinner but refund half
the cost back to you. Sure hope a lot of people call and make reservations, should be a lot of
fun, and that is something our chapter needs, we have drifted apart. My thanks goes out to
Mr. Jerry Wells for conducting the July meeting, lot of laughs that night and the informative
little hob-knob, afterwards was fun.

Now for some sad followed by glad news. My daughter, Shelia, who a lot have met, called me
on July 22. First words were “NOW DAD DON'T PANIC, SHE, my 17 year old granddaughter,
IS OK, just a ruptured spleen, some road rash on her left hand and shoulder. Me panic, HELL
NO, SANDY COME HERE, TALK TO YOUR DAUGHTER.

Then the call about 1:30am, they are moving her to Halifax from Ormond. All week we wor-
ried, today, they had to go in and drain fluid from under her lung, left side and according to
Shelia maybe she will be able to come home tomorrow. She asked if I saw her helmet, I told
her no and they produced it, left side of face shield scratched up with deep scratches. She
has always been good about the gear, helmet, jacket, gloves, this time was in big hurry, in
the trails in Ormond, she said something ran out in front of her, swerved to miss the animal,
hit the curb. She was one lucky young lady. Thank you guardian angel and the good lord.

I believe although she is young she could and would benefit from being a GWRRA member
and participate in some of our PLP. Grandpa might have to pay for another membership, but
it will be worth it.

Now something I have to practice, while standing by my ride, have fun, laugh, joke with
friends, BUT you mount up get serious, and enjoy the ride, and breeze.

In your prayers please don't forget the shut ins and ask for a little rain.

Region “A” Directors Jim and Sue Jackson

Ladies and Gentlemen, last call for Wing Ding 38 which will be held in
Billings, MT 08/31 thru 09/03. Understand that the location is a long way
from Region ‘A’, but I feel that a number of Region ‘A’ Members will be at-
tending this fine event and we certainly appreciate you attending.

As many of you know, Region ‘A’ has some responsibilities that we must ac-
commodate. Our Mission for 2016 is to provide volunteer workerbees for the
“On-Site Registration and Day Pass Station.” So, when you are visiting Wing
Ding 38, please volunteer some of your valuable time to help us with our Mission. To volunteer, please
contact your District Director. Really, we have a great time on these Missions and the fun never stops.
Also you would earn a great looking “Volunteer Pin” and an invite to the “Ice Cream” Social for Volun-
teers. Wow, what a great way to close out your fabulous experience as a Wing Ding Volunteer. And don’t
forget the ride to and from Billings will be filled with excitement and so much to see and share that you
will probably take a million pictures. Hope to see many of you in Billings.

And in our own Region ‘A’ we are closing in on the last two Rallies in the Region. Can you believe our
2016 Rally Season is almost over? Where did it go? First is the Mississippi District Rally Oct 13-15, and
will be presented in MS, on the beautiful white sands of the Gulf of Mexico. For whatever reason, if you
have never attended the Mississippi District Rally, you need to gear up and plan on being with us at a
great location where the fun never ends and the seafood eating never stops. Oh by the way, the sunsets
are atrocious. And if you have the mind there is a little “chachinging” available in the immediate area.
Hope to see many of you during the Mississippi Rally.

Folks, the last Rally in our Region will be the Southeast Region ‘A’ Rally Oct 27-29, at the bodacious

Lakepoint Lodge and Convention Center near Eufaula, AL. Plenty of excellent opportunities in front of
you if you attend the Rally and participate.

Bill and Gina Berry, Senior Florida District Directors

We hope each of you are having a FUN summer and are staying cool! July
has flown by and we were able to attend the SC rally. This was Phil and
July Stone’s last rally as SC District Directors. They and their staff went out
with a bang...as all who attend their rally had a great time in Anderson!
Congratulations to Buddy and Kim Summer for stepping up!
August 31 – September 3 brings us to Wing Ding in Billings Montana. Many of you will be leaving soon
Heading out West. Travel safe and while there...have FUN! Unfortunately, we will not be able to attend
this year. Denis Turcotte and Nikki Blaha will be in charge of Florida’s Friday work day. If you haven’t let
Gina know to put you on the work list, please do so ASAP. If you are there and would like to help, Denis
and Nikki will be the ones to see!
With at least 2 more months of a hot summer for Florida left, be sure when riding to drink lots of liquids
and take extra breaks. Here in Central Florida we have those afternoon
thunder storms, so beware!
