Epilogue

After establishing the main spaceport, we decided to open a new colony on Kerbin, behind the
northern mountain ridges, to expand the tourism, and start new experiments, which will make sure
we can establish new outposts behind the SOI of Kerbin later on. To establish communication links
between the KSC and the colony on Kerbin, we had to establish a properly functioning
communication network with satellites. For these duties was built the K-1, and it's modernised
variant launched the Kerbal's Leap into a high excentric orbit around the planet – sadly the probe,
because of an unforseen failure of the solar panel's motor - later burned up in the atmosphere. Of
course the first tries – at least a dozen – was failure, mostly because of the turbo pumps of the K-1.

The first telecommunication satellite, called the Klaster-1 was launched succesfully from the KSC's
launchpad. It provided a decent connection, and later the network was complete with the other
commsats.

To maintain the orbital network, we used a 2-step checking system to identificating and rearranging
and/or correcting the satellite's orbit, if needed. For this reason – together with the new colonies –

we built a massive groundstation
network, with huge dishes. The role
of these groundstations were basically
to transmit the incoming call and/or
scientific report from the future
missions, as well as transmit the
coordinates for the charter flights
betwen the colonies and the KSC. But
to maintain the orbital character of the network, we couldn't rely on this automated system. We had
to figure out, how could we maintain it from the ground. So the idea of the Mobile Satellite
Controller Ground Base (or MSCGB for short) was made, by the idea of Gene Kerman. I still
remember he had some sleepless night because of that...

Anyway, the progess to explore the world around and above us went on at full speed. We had to test
every part of our new rockets, mostly the engines and the communication systems before launch.
After we’ve completed all the required missions in the Kerbin-system, included to establish a space
station over both the Mün and Minmus, we went to the next level, and launched the first
interplanetary probe, the Kerbal's Leap-II on the top of a K-3/B rocket.
It does not have the required dV to reach any of the planets, but it managed to escape from the SOI
of Kerbin and enter into a heliocentric orbit.
It was a great success. The journey to explore the Kerbol system to understand both the universe
and ourselves has just began.
For a long time we just stared at the blank screen, hoping that the Kerbal's Leap-II will activate it's
camera and will look back at us...

For the very first time we felt that we don't have „solid ground” under our feet. Entered into a brand
new world, where we've never been...

Who knows what lies beyond the SOI of Kerbin...?
