Grade 10, portfolio
project,
Where we research, propose, create, and reflect
an art piece. For my task II E-portfolio I plan to
propose my idea for what I would like to do for
my task III, having researched everything I
have in my task I, and how it would be
beneficial from this point forward.
I also plan to discuss how I came about this idea
to propose, what ways it connects to the global
context.
RESEARCH E - PORTFOLIO
Art distorts,
abstracts and blends
space and time
Seeing the different ways in which artists are able
to blend, distort, or abstract elements in their song
to be able to reinforce or criticize certain idea/s,
incited ideas of my own
.
Through my E-portfolio task III, I would like to
propose an idea that attempts to blend, distort,
and or abstract elements in my final piece.
FOR MY E-
PORTFOLIO
PRODUCT,
I would like to take a modern pop song
called Havana by Camilla Cabello and
reinvent it into an instrumental classical
piece. The original song by Camilla contains
vocals accompanied by a pop band. I would
like to change this and convert it into a
mini-orchestra (chamber).
I aim to do this by learning the structure,
chords, notes, and rhythm of the original
song and then making my alterations, to
point where it’s a classical piece.

TO GLOBAL
CONTEXT
This connects to the global context which is
Orientation in space and time and the
statement of inquiry which is Art distorts,
abstracts and blends space and time This is
because it distorts the genre and style; by
altering the song from a pop modern piece
to a classical piece.
The instruments used in classical and pop
are also very different. Meaning the style
would also be distorted. The time period
would also be distorted because I would be
distorting genres from two different time
periods.
Inspiration
Whilst going through this process I gathered a lot of
ideas. I am presenting my proposal in a book + audio
format, inspired by Melanie Martinez. Seeing how
Melanie worked with an illustrator called Chloe Tersigni
to create a storyline that follows the same plot line as
Melanie’s ‘crybaby’ album.
As for my task 3, I got inspiration from listening to
videos made from the postmodern jukebox, which are a
group of talented musicians that are known for taking
pop songs are reinventing it into a jazz, or classical type
song. For my task 3, I’d figured I’d try to do the same
with a well-known pop song.
