The shipyard has been awarded with several contracts for projects featuring advanced technology. Originally operating as the Royal Malaysian Navy Dockyard in 1984, the company was corporatised in 1991 and subsequently privatised in 1995 as PSC Naval Dockyard Sdn Bhd. Two decades later, the shipyard was taken over by Boustead Holdings Berhad, a diversified Malaysian business conglomerate owned by the Armed Forces Provident Fund. In August 2005, the company was renamed as Boustead Naval Shipyard Sdn. Bhd, under which it is currently operating. Our Services Shipbuilding of naval and commercial ships. Maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of naval and commercial ships. Service Life Extension Programme (SLEP) and modernisation of naval ships. Service and repair of commercial vessel. Class Management of naval ships. About Us

Shipbuilding & Shiprepair Equipped with world-class infrastructure, facilities and decades of experience in shipbuilding, BNS is now at the forefront of modern shipbuilding in the country. Some of the many notable projects by BNS over the years include the construction of sophisticated ships for the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN), namely the Patrol Vessel (PV), Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) and Littoral Mission Ship (LMS), contributing to the shipyard’s capabilities. BNS is proud to have contributed towards safeguarding Malaysia’s maritime interest by constructing such strategic assets for the RMN. In addition, BNS has also helped to boost Malaysia’s maritime industry through the development of the shipbuilding ecosystem via the Vendor Development Programme (VDP). BNS has produced many competent local vendors and has nurtured skills and talents among the local workforce, as well as creating employment opportunities in the Malaysian shipbuilding industry through the VDP. In MRO, BNS has achieved great success through its well-skilled shiprepair department, which has been responsible for the repairs, maintenance and modifications of naval and commercial vessels, as well as the upgrading of equipment and systems onboard vessels since 1984.

Design & Engineering Capabilities The Engineering Department at BNS has been the driving force behind the company's innovation and excellence in Shipbuilding & Shiprepair projects. Since 1991, the Department has worked diligently to develop and strengthen its capabilities, from design-end fabrication drawings to new building projects from the concept, basic and the detailed design phases, in line with the Department's long-standing commitment towards excellence in engineering. Over the years, through collaborations with top naval ship designers from countries like Germany, The Netherlands and France, the Engineering team has grown and cultivated its expertise in ship design. This level of experience, partnered with the team's expertise in tailoring ships to meet the unique needs and requests of our clients has led to the creation of one-of-a-kind vessels by BNS. The convergence of design data, particularly functional data, requires a 3D model (3DM) and a data base (DB) to be produced. The design sub-systems are coordinated through this particular set of data (3DM + DB), where in turn, compliance with the functional constraints can be achieved. These cutting-edge tools and techniques enhance the quality of BNS's designs, further positioning our company as a leader in the Shiprepair & Shipbuilding industries.

BNS believes that the programme will further optimise local content, both in areas of materials and technical service support. These ships will be based on the proven MEKO® 100 Hull, however improvements will be made in the selection of more durable machineries and equipment to increase their endurance. This programme is compatible with the recently acquired ship construction facilities for the LCS Programme. In addition to working with local designers, BNS shall also collaborate with local research institutions for a joint review on the ship designs, particularly in specialized military disciplines. 2nd New Generation Patrol Vessel
