ELF Day 2023 is a momentous event that aligns with Universiti Putra Malaysia’s Strategic Plan 2021-2025 to produce graduates who are resilient to the challenges ahead and to develop holistic characters and potential in graduates. ELF Day 2023 is also a platform that brings together a community of educators, students, faculties and colleges to join forces towards creating a vibrant and inclusive academic environment that thrives not only on knowledge but also on life enriching experiences. By promoting inclusivity, engagement and resilience, ELF 2023 embodies the university’s commitment to holistic education. I applaud CALC’s initiative for organising ELF 2023 and its profound impact on the English language learning and competency among students. It is fascinating to explore the line-up of many fun and engaging activities held during ELF 2023, which will allow students to not only enhance their English language proficiency but also immerse themselves in building communication, problem-solving and teamwork skills. It is also interesting to witness how the 21st century classroom of language learning is not only confined to the barriers of the classroom but also extends beyond the classroom through language learning and immersion events. CALC being at the forefront of language learning endlessly strives to become a highly reputable language learning centre and to empower students with the language competence needed for personal and professional advancement. ELF 2023 is one of the many events designed to meet this mission, and I hope this will be a continuous event in the future. ELF DAY 2023 (ENGLISH LANGUAGE FUN DAY) is one of CALC’s initiatives aimed at enhancing students' motivation to master the English language in a more enjoyable environment, fostering both self-improvement and students’ professional development. Besides, this event marks the beginning of collaborative activities between CALC and colleges at UPM to empower students’ English language proficiency. It is hoped that this event will become a platform for students to elevate their communication and leadership skills through their active involvement in ensuring the success of this programme and participation in language activities such as the Spelling Bee, Language Games and many others. In essence, ELF Day provides students with a fun environment outside the classroom, encouraging them to use English confidently.
