Vivian Fan, pianist

As a solo pianist, Vivian Fan has played under conductors Jorge Mester, Jung Ho Pak, Mario Miragliotta, Sharon Lavery,
Peter Askim, and Marc Riley. She appeared numerous times on The Hour of Power aired world wide, and on KTLA and
KNBC television as well as KUSC radio. As a chamber musician, she has performed at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion,
Royce Hall, and the California Center for the Arts. She has also performed in Portland, Santa Barbara, Indianapolis, and
Montreal Canada. In the summer of 2006 Ms. Fan gave a symposium presentation at the ISME World Conference in
Malaysia. Ms. Fan has appeared in recitals as a collaborative pianist with renowned artists such as Shigenori Kudo, Paul
Coletti and Richard O’Neill. Prior to Ms. Fan’s staff collaborative pianist position at the Colburn Conservatory, she has
been on the piano faculty at the Idyllwild Arts Academy for five years and a teaching assistant to Professor John Perry at
USC for two years. Ms. Fan has also worked as a staff accompanist at the Idyllwild Summer Music Festival, International
Music Course of Benidorm in Spain, Hawaii Performing Arts Festival, and Montecito Summer Music Festival.

Irene Gregorio, pianist

A native of Guelph, Canada, Irene Gregorio is an active collaborative pianist in the Los Angeles Area. She received music
performance degrees from the Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto; University of Western Ontario, and University of
Michigan, where she was a fellowship student of Martin Katz. The recipient of numerous awards and scholarships, Ms.
Gregorio has served as principal keyboardist/percussionist with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada and the
Mendocino Music Festival Orchestra, and her performances as a collaborative pianist have taken her throughout North
America, Europe, Cuba, and the Philippines. She has accompanied master classes by Sherrill Milnes, Cesar Ulloa, Joan
Dornemann, Sir James and Lady Galway and Jeanne Baxtresser, and has collaborated in recital with members of the
Oakland and San Francisco Symphony and Ballet Orchestras.

Ms. Gregorio joined the faculty of the music department of the California State University, East Bay in 2002, and was an
active member of the university community. She served as the artistic director of Musica delle Donne, an annual festival
which celebrates music by women composers, and associate director of university's Centre for Filipino Studies. She is
currently pursuing Doctoral Studies in Keyboard Collaborative Arts at the University of Southern California in the studio of
Dr. Alan Smith.

Valeria Morgovskaya, pianist

Valeria Morgovskaya, a graduate of the Kiev State Conservatory, won the award for Best Accompanist at the 1986
International Tchaikovsky Competition. Upon immigrating to the United States in 1990, Ms. Morgovskaya became the
official accompanist of the Piatigorsky Cello Seminar in Los Angeles, California in 1991.

As an accompanist, Valeria Morgovskaya has provided accompaniment for many major competitions, including those held
in Montreal (Canada), Munich (Germany), Paris (France) and others. Since 2004 she has served as an accompanist for
the Beverly Hills International Music Festival. Ms. Morgovskaya has performed on the KUSC weekly broadcast concert
series “Sundays Live” on numerous occasions.

She is currently on staff at Loyola Marymount University as an accompanist and is often engaged in that capacity at the
University of Southern California.

Mitsuko Morikawa, Pianist

Pianist Mitsuko Morikawa has been an active soloist, accompanist and chamber musician throughout the world. She has
collaborated with highly acclaimed musicians from a vast array of genres spanning instrumental music, vocal music,
musical theater and chamber ensembles. Some of the artists that Ms. Morikawa has performed with include Michel
Debost, Akiko Suwanai, Martin Chalifour, Timothy Mussard, Yoko Moore, Megumi Kanda, Douglas Masek and Rodell
Aure Rosel. Ms. Morikawa has also recorded music for the New World Records label and has been featured on radio
programs such as WCLV, Cleveland and NHK-FM, Japan.

Apart from her accomplishments as a performer, Ms. Morikawa has also distinguished herself as a unique and highly
regarded coach/accompanist. She has served on the faculties at Oberlin College Conservatory, The Oberlin Flute
Institute, Baldwin Wallace College Conservatory and the ENCORE School of Strings. Ms. Morikawa has been appointed
as a Teaching Assistant in studio accompanying at the University of Southern California.

Ms. Morikawa’s degrees consist of a B.M. in piano performance from the Toho School of Music, Japan, an M.M. in piano
performance from the Manhattan School of Music and a Professional Studies Certificate from The Cleveland Institute of
Music. Some of Ms. Morikawa’s teachers include Sergei Babayan, Cheng-Zong Yin, Paul Schenly, Sara Davis Buechner
and Hisako Ueno. She is currently pursuing a D.M.A. in keyboard collaborative arts at the University of Southern
California under the guidance of Dr. Alan Smith.

Jiayi Shi

Pianist Jiayi Shi maintains an active schedule as a chamber musician and collaborative
pianist. She works extensively with the internationally renowned violinist Midori, and
made her New York recital debut with Midori in March 2004. In addition to numerous
chamber performances, Ms. Shi often plays solo piano recitals in North America and in
her native China to critical acclaim. In recent years, she has also performed in important
venues around the world such as Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco, St. Luke’s in
London and Konzerhaus in Berlin.
Born to a musical family in Shanghai, Jiayi Shi began playing the piano at age 4 and a
few years later, she was accepted to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and studied
there until 1996, when she was granted a full scholarship to the University of Texas at
Austin. Ms. Shi continued her education at the Eastman School of Music and graduated
with both a Master’s degree and the Performance Certificate in Piano in 2002. Currently,
she is completing her Doctoral of Musical Arts at Manhattan School of Music and is also
serving on the piano faculty of Biola University in California.

Svetlana Transky, pianist

Born in the former Soviet Union, Svetlana Transky obtained a Masters and a Doctoral Degree in Musical Arts with a major
in Piano Performance, as well as a minor in Keyboard Collaborative Arts and Music Education, from the University of
Southern California Thornton School of Music, where she studied with the renowned piano professor Daniel Pollack and
was a recipient of the prestigious John Crown Memorial Music Award in Keyboard Studies.

Dr. Transky was a prizewinner in the International Piano Competition of the International Summer Academy of Music in
Michelstadt, Germany; a winner of the Los Angeles Liszt Piano Competition; a finalist of the Missouri Southern
International Piano Competition, and Dorothy Anderson International Piano Competition in Seattle.

In addition to concertizing throughout Europe and the United States as a piano soloist, Dr. Transky often collaborates with
various chamber ensembles and vocalists. She was recording pianist for PBS-NOVA movie special “Darwin’s Darkest
Hour” shown on KCET, and has performed for Sundays Live – KUSC Radio program from LACMA. She is an affiliated
artist of The Center for Jewish Culture and Creativity and is a resident pianist of the Center's "Synergy" chamber
performance ensemble.

In addition of maintaining a successful piano teaching studio, Dr. Transky is the creative director, lecturer and performer in
the “Great Composers and Performers” series for Unity in Diversity Arts Foundation. She is currently on the piano faculty
of the Evergreen Music Conservatory, and a musical director and pianist for the newly formed Evergreen Chamber Music
Series.
