Johnny & Jessica…

Johnny & Jessica first came to us through our
“familes of the incarcerated” support group
seeking help. POTW began mentoring J. as she
was facing imprisonment and awaiting trial.
POTW was Blessed to baptise both of them, and
also have the opportunity to work in their
personal lives and marriage until she was
incarcerated. J’s mentor continues to make great
impact in her life even today through our
“incarceration mentoring” phase.
Though she has a few more years before she is
eligable for parole, she is making great strides -
Spiritually as well as Academically. Johnny visits
weekly as he awaits their re-uniting as a family.

We began working in Gordon’s life
some years ago. His first days out
were as exciting for us as it was for

him.
Institutionalization was quite the
challenge for us, but rest assured: God

size tasks are never easy..
After POTW was able to locate an
“affordable apt. his first words to our
Thursday evening SE support group
members was: “You should see my

place, it’s beautiful.” He barely
completed those words before tears of

joy streamed down his face.

Proclamation of the Word NOethwesr…….
Ministry - Training

POTW’s training at SE was quite the turn -out. Seventeen new volunteers added in various
ministry positions will take us to new heights this year.

Jan Freibert and Bill Filiatreau dispersed plenty wisdom and encouragement throughout
each training session. Their optimism and demonstrations on proper mentoring,

involvement, boundaries and crisis intervention always drives home the major issues of
how to make good Spiritual and relational impact in the lives of mentees.

Friday night opened with worship, testimonies from mentors, mentees, and a short
devotion on “Giving unto the Lord - your gifts and talents.” From there it was a break out

session located in the fireside room.
Saturday was an all day training session that invited interaction and generated discussions
on topics ranging from “where is the line between helping and enabling?” to “What will my

mentee expect from me?”
All in all, it was an amzing weekend and a fabulous event for POTW.

A BIG thanks to SE for allowing us to use the Chapel and Fire
side room…

POTW is always seeking new volunteers. We always have a wide range of positions open,

I first met Antone in 2007. In my usual assessment of those I
encountered in prison, I concluded that he seems to be a very
level headed, educated guy that had all the wrong friends. I
wasn’t sure why he was in prison, nor did I ever make it a big
deal to find out.
I made assessments for the next few years such as: “unlike
many, he works a full time job everyday, is very respectful to
others and seems to have genuine concern
for those around him.” He passed my personal “criteria” for
friendship and I come to know him as a friend.
Antone has (at present) completed 33 years of imprisonment
on a life sentence and has recently made parole.
Antone will walk out of prison on Sept.1, and will be presented
with some very difficult challenges.
As always, one of the most difficult challenges is to “Seek ye
first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness…..”
After 33, yrs. there’s a huge host of seeming “first
stops” for those exiting prison. Most of which we (as a
Ministry) will assist with, such as: I.D., Insurance,
housing, a job, clothes, a Church, counseling, ongoing
mentoring and the list goes on and on.
Prayers for Antone are much needed and for our
success in his life as well.

“GiveLocalLouisville”
Coming on Sept.15th.

Give Local Louisville is a 24-hour online giving day
created to inspire people to give generously to the

nonprofits that make our community a better, more

vital place to live. In 2015, we made history; we raised
$3 million through 8,785 gifts for the 362
participating nonprofits -- a more than $1 million

increase over the previous year.

Give Local Louisville returns on Thursday,

“GiveLocalLouisville” (Sept 15th, 2016) Help us…… September 15. And our goal is simple - to raise more

money for more nonprofits. We want to again inspire

thousands of people to give to the local causes they

care about and to turn their collective generosity into

impact for our community.

This year, over 600 nonprofits are taking part in this city-wide movement to advance
Louisville. Join us as we make this the biggest day of local giving for our community!

CONGRATULATIONS MIKE & ANGIE FREDELL, YOU
DID IT…. 3650 MILES

Our “twowheelsrolling.org” fundraiser went amazingly well. Mike and Angie completed their trek on
August 9th. When Mike and Angie came onboard with POTW as volunteers, they were already
scheduled for this unbelievable ride “across America.” In their gererositty, Mike & Angie opted to use
the ride as a fundraiser for POTW and in a few short weeks we began putting things in place.
A daily blog for donors to follow, breath taking pictures, devotionals and the excitement of each story
kept its followers coming back for more each day.
Our final “donors report” brought in around $8.300.00.
To Mike & Angie, we want to say: Thank you for your gift to POTW. To all of our donors: if it weren’t
for generous hearts like yours, we would cease making the difference we do in the lives of those we
work with. Please watch for your “Thank you’s” coming to your address or email soon, along with a
tax deductable form for your contribution. With our deepest gratitude we thank you for your support
of POTW.

As always, we here at P.O.T.W thank you for your prayers and contributions. If you are not a donor and
would like to do monthly (direct deposit) donations, or a yearly donation, please contact us at:
proclamationoftheword.org and click on, “donations.” Your prayers or interest in volunteering for this
ministry are also greatly appreciated.

In His Love
the team @ P.O.T.W.
