Darrell Rivers starts her first year at
Malory Towers, a clifftop boarding school
in Cornwall. She meets the quick-witted
Alicia, the musical genius Irene, and the shy
Mary-Lou. Darrell's first term is
tumultuous, despite his determination to
succeed and make friends. Her rage makes
things difficult, and her tactics to play the
fool backfire. Gwendoline Mary Lacey is
another new girl who turns out to be
pretentious, superficial, and prone to
occasional spitefulness and bullying. This
book is available in the WSA Library. You

Recommendation:

WHAT IS AMULET?

Amulet is a graphic novel series illustrated and written by Kazu
Kibuishi and published by Graphix, an imprint of scholastic. It
follows the adventures of Emily, a young girl who discovers an
amulet that holds immense
power in her great-grandfather’s house.
Emily and her brother ,Navin, venture through
a mystic world known as Alledia in order to save their mother.

WHY SHOULD YOU READ THIS BOOK?

It is an amazing series with tons of great artwork and story. It
has just enough ‘violence’ to captivate readers without being
inappropriate or overly graphic. Amulet is about finding courage
and the means of facing one’s challenge and fears.

UAE TRIVIA

Do you know these 3 facts about UAE?

· There are no rivers

While the UAE doesn’t have any permanent rivers, there are plenty of wadis, which are
filled with water during monsoons.

·It’s home to the safest city in the world

Abu Dhabi, the UAE’s capital, has been ranked as the safest city in the world for four
years by crowd-sourced global data website Numbeo. In 2020, both Sharjah and Dubai
also ranked in the top 10, coming in at fifth and seventh place respectively.

· UAE creates new world records every year

The UAE is known to come up with surprising world records every year. Be it the tallest, largest,
biggest, best, one of its kind - the UAE is full of these. The number of world records held by the
UAE till date is 190! It has its own Guinness World Records office in Dubai. Now isn't this a
'record-breaking' fact about UAE.

Sport of the
Week by

Abdullah Y9

Football

My Sport of the week is football.

Guess why,

First of all

Messi came to UAE earlier on this Wednesday.

His team (Argentina) and himself played a match
against the UAE national team and won by 5 goals.

So my sport of the week is football coz I saw Lionel
Messi who is an all time best footballer and he is
now in Qatar.

Second, It’s official FIFA 2022 world cup with many
teams in it and it will last for 28 days. So for this

week it football for Messi coming to UAE and World
Cup Qatar

Poem For The Feels

My Usual Day

By-Sri Varshini Vedula

I just want to sleep but I have school,

I wanna go and jump in a swimming pool,
Taking a shower keeps me refreshed,
For the whole day full of tests,

School is fun I meet all my friends
I hear the sound of writing pens,
Math’s, English and many more,
Once I go home, I got other chores,

There’s a time to eat time to play,
I sometimes cycle across the bay,
I summarize my day in my diary,
It is like a short story.

Short Stories

The case of the misleading midnight drink- Sukena
Hussain

Mrs. Wong, a charming Japanese woman who was round the
age of 56. She was very skilled in English literature
and preferred to spend most of her time reading. But of
course, one can’t live a whole life by books. She worked
as a maid for Lord and Lady Greyson. A maid was a rather
boring choice for work, but Mrs. Wong was very fast in
cleaning. So, she always finished her chores early and
spent the rest of her shift reading.

She always worked the night shift no matter what as she
always wanted to avoid the Greyson children. The
Greyson children were kind but never to the maids,
they’d scream like banshees and drive their caretakers
up the wall. One maid, Milly Marge tried to fix their
behaviour but ended being trapped on the roof all day.
Even to this day she fears those barbaric children.

Mrs. Wong didn’t have many chores on her list for the
night shift, in fact she just has one. That was to clean
the ballroom. Now the ballroom was the largest room in
the whole mansion, with its magnificent marble floors
with gold walls. Mrs. Wong was the only maid permitted
to clean the ballroom by the Lord and Lady. She was
given this task only for how gentle she was, so every
night she’d come to the mansion and clean the ballroom.

Short Stories

This of course was a very boring task for anyone who
fancied adventure as much as Mrs. Wong, but she found a
better way to clean it. Mrs. Wong was quite flexible,
even in her old age. So, she simply tied the cleaning
sponges to her feat with rope and skated around the
ballroom to clean it. Since she her cleaning technique
always helped her finish cleaning early, she had the
rest of her shift to herself. She spent this time reading
her favourite books which were often mystery novels.

But one evening something unexpected happened.

Class Experiences

As we near the end of Term 1, I can see that I
have learnt a lot!~ from teachers, classmates,
and everyone around me! I made many new
friends and did so many fun things! I got to meet
so many people, organize assemblies, make videos
and collaborate with many other students at
WSA!
I feel that this term has given me a great start
for the rest of Year 7, Thank you!

~Shraddha Kanukolanu, Y07G2

So far I feel like it have been one the most craziestyears, from
all the tests to all the activities, but the most important things
are my thoughts about my class.

My experiences were terrific! I love how all the class
contributes to class, and I love thehumour of it, but I have
encountered some awful weird things, from meltdowns to
arguments, but that makes our class unique
.

But I love my class and the teachers are amazing, they give
the good vibes to the students. I would recommend the
teachers to try make us do all the tasks so we have no
homework but other than that I feel this was the best year yet
!
