LEGA DEI CONTADINI
DI MEZZOCORONA
The second cooperative is founded that defends the
small-size producers: the Farmers’ Association.
THE CANTINA SOCIALE
COOPERATIVA DI MEZZOCORONA
The two main wine-growing and wine-making
cooperatives of Mezzocorona, Cantina Sociale and Lega
dei Contadini, unite to create a new entity.

THE BIRTH
OF OUR COMPANY
Eleven founding members establish the first
winemaking cooperative of Mezzocorona
(Cantina Sociale di Mezzocorona).
CANTINA PRODUTTORI
DI MEZZOCORONA
The third cooperative - the winemakers’ cooperative - is
founded with purposes similar to those of the previous two.

The origins
& milestones
THE BIRTH OF ROTARI
In the area of the former winemaking cooperative the first corporate
spumante winery is founded with the launching of the production of
the “Rotari” Metodo Classico that valorises some interesting
cultivars, first and foremost the Chardonnay.

TEROLDEGO ROTALIANO DOC
After a decade of debate over the law in defence of classic wines,
Teroldego Rotaliano finally receives concrete recognition, with the
awarding of the Controlled Designation of Origin to a wine that
would become the symbol of Cantina Sociale di Mezzocorona.
That same year the first bottle of Teroldego Rotaliano Doc - the
absolute first in Trentino – is launched on the market.
USA MARKET
In the USA, the Prestige Wine Imports corporation is purchased
with the aim of expanding into the strongly growing American
market.
The origins
& milestones
THE BIRTH OF
MEZZACORONA WINERY
The 137 members of Cooperativa Produttori merge with the
630 members of Cantina Sociale. This is the last merger
between local cooperatives. The aim is to operate within the
wine industry with greater homogeneity, and thereby develop
an organisation based on quality, returning the benefits back
onto the local community and meeting the demands of a
strongly competitive global market. Thus the birth of
‘Mezzacorona Winery’ in its current location.
3
PARTNERSHIP WITH
LOCAL COOPERATIVES
An alliance is made with two significant wineries, Cantina di
Salorno (1994) and Cantina Sociale di Ala (1995) that also
become, as such, members of Cantine Mezzacorona, while
maintaining their full administrative autonomy.

THE “CITTADELLA DEL VINO” PROJECT
The communion of agricultural produce quality, local community
and terroir is a fundamental aspect in which Cantine Mezzacorona
have always believed, cultivating and advocating the awareness of
its existence. This vision turns into a large town-planning
reorganization project on the ‘ex-Samatec’ area, once a highly
problematic industrial district that is completely redesigned to
become the ‘Cittadella del Vino’ (Wine Citadel).

& milestones
NOSIO SPA
The Members of Cantine Mezzacorona deliberate the creation
of NosioSpA as marketing and financial division of the Group,
with the lien of keeping the majority of the stock capital firmly in
the hands of the Cooperative.

THE SICILY PROJECT
Considering the strong demand of international markets for
wines coming from hot-dry climates, Gruppo Mezzacorona
launches the Sicily project, also with a view to fully exploiting
the company’s wine product sales and marketing
structure by expanding production.

which, together with the Arco cellar, becomes the hub for
collection, transformation and refining of the wine.
