THE VERY SAD BETHANIE

THE VERY SAD BETHANIE

The Very Sad Bethanie

By: Bethanie Weicken

Once upon a time
there was a girl named
Bethanie. She was a
senior in high school
and was horrible at
managing her stress.

One day in her Computer
Applications class, she
greeted Ms. Dains, her
teacher. “Good Morning,
Ms. Dains!” This was
Bethanie’s favorite
teacher.

But Ms. Dains was
different today. She had

horns in her head and
hissed at Bethanie

instead of saying good
morning back. Bethanie

then cried.

Bethanie sat down and Ms. Dains
looked at her and said “YOU HAVE
TO MAKE A CHILDREN’S BOOK
OR YOU WILL FAIL MY CLASS!!!!”
And laughed in Bethanie’s face.
This would be the second time
Bethanie cries this day.

Bethanie started to panic
internally. She had a 98%
in this class and couldn’t
understand how one
project would fail her! But
she sat down and looked
online at children’s books.

That’s when Ms. Dains came over and
started yelling at her again. “DON’T
LOOK AT IDEAS ONLINE. THAT
PLAAAAAGERISSSIIINNNGGGG”.
She hissed and walked away from
Bethanie. This would be the third
time she cries this day.

That’s when
Bethanie came up
with a brilliant
idea!

“Ms. Dains!” Bethanie said.
The teacher slowly turned
around in her chair. “What?!”
Ms. Dains said in a very mono
tone voice. “I’ve come up
with a story! It’s about you!”
The teacher’s face stayed
the same and she turned
around, ignoring Bethanie.

This would be
the fourth

time Bethanie
cries this
day.

Bethanie knew there was
something wrong with Ms. Dains,

but couldn’t put
her finger on it. So to cheer her
up, Bethanie decided to write a
story about how Ms. Dains was a

princess.

Bethanie started
typing rapidly,
super excited
about her story!

But then here came
Ms. Dains and she

whispered in
Bethanie’s ear.

She whispered,
“You know what
I hate more
than talking?
PEOPLE WHO
TYPE LOUDLY!”

Bethanie
almost started
crying. But she
decided to do
something else
instead. She
decided to
stand up for
herself.

“You know what Ms.
Dains? You don’t
have to put me down
because you’re in a
bad mood! I’m trying
to write a nice story
about you, and you
hate me today! Why
do you hate me?!”
Bethanie this time
started to cry.

But something clicked in
Ms. Dains, and she started
to apologize. “I’m sorry I’ve
been so mean to you today
Bethanie. Its just... I’m not
me when I’m hungry... I’m

starving.”

They looked at each other for
a second and then Bethanie
pulled something out of her
back pack. It was a York
Peppermint Patty! It also
happened to be Ms. Dains
favorite candy!

Ms. Dains started to eat,
and slowly but surely,

the horns went away, and
she started to return to

her normal self.

“Thank you Bethanie.
And I’m sorry for being
so mean to you today. To

make it up to you, I’m
going to give you an A+
on whatever your story

is about!

“Thanks Ms. Dains!” They
hugged, and from that moment

on, Bethanie always carried
York Peppermint Patties in her

backpack, juuuuust in case.
