A QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER FROM MUTHOOT PAPPACHAN GROUP
UNVEILING
OUR NEW BRAND
PHILOSOPHY
BLUE SOCH
Helping millions shape their tomorrow
FROM THE VOL 1 / MAY-JULY 2018
CHAIRMAN’S DESK
Dear All,
In the last quarter, we achieved significant growth across all verticals. We also moved a step
ahead and changed our brand philosophy from ‘Believe in Blue’ to ‘Blue is Belief’ which will further
strengthen our brand and reflect the self-belief that our customers have in their abilities and their
determination to rise above their circumstances.
In line with our founders vision of empowering human ambition, we rolled-out our new brand
identity - 'Blue Soch'. Our ‘Blue Soch’ philosophy and the Kahaani Blue Soch ki campaign salute the
indomitable spirit of our customers to take challenges head-on while making the most of the
resources at their disposal.
In our attempts to celebrate people with the Blue Soch, we are joined by one of India’s finest actor
and humanitarian, Vidya Balan. This association will go a long way to strengthen our identity in
the customers’ mind and create a distinct positioning for our brand. Now is the time to build on
the momentum created by the Blue Soch campaign & carry-out focussed on-ground activities to
build customer engagement. New customer walk-ins at our branches & calls to our call-centre,
which have increased post the campaign, have to be dealt with a lot of empathy & service
orientation, this will ensure we add to our existing loyal customer base & fulfil many more dreams.
I believe that a new journey has just begun and it is only going to get more exciting from here on.
So, fasten your seat-belts and get ready for the amazing ride ahead.

Leaders Talk
Dear All,
As you are aware, we recently introduced the new way of looking at our customer, viz., the people with ‘Blue Soch’. Beyond any doubt,
our customers have always been and are indeed inspirations for us, in the way they rise above their severe adversities through sheer
positivity, grit, determination and smart-thinking.
Blue Soch is a new powerful idea to recognise this same thought-process/approach to life. This is extremely important in the evolution
of our Group, now aptly termed as the Muthoot Blue Group, as it emphasizes on recognising the hard-work and determination that drives
our customers ahead in life in-spite of the most daunting circumstances, so that we incessantly design & develop products to empower
their human ambition.
We launched the Blue Soch campaign, through four films amongst other marketing e orts, to reflect this identity in di erent ways. In
the ‘Chaishop’ film, the Blue Soch is about finding an innovative way to get new customers when business conditions become unfavour-
able whereas in the ‘Puncture Shop’ film, the Blue Soch is about spotting an opportunity and acting on it during tough times. In the
‘Mom-Son’ and the ‘Tailor Shop’ films, the Blue Soch is about using your gold for your progress. In all the films, you will appreciate that
the characters, the setting and the interaction has been portrayed extremely realistically without in anyway adding the glitz and glam-
our of advertising. This will go a long way in ensuring that people with the Blue Soch identify with us and consider us as their first choice
for fulfilling their dreams.
Another reason for the marketing e orts to strike a chord with people, internally & externally, is the wings added to the same by our
new brand ambassador - Vidya Balan. Vidya Balan is not only a highly acclaimed actor, with numerous awards to her credit, but also a
humanitarian who lends strong support to issues such as women empowerment, sanitation and others. Her genuine concern for people
who deserve all the support we can o er, makes her the right voice for our brand. Also, it is important to note that Vidya Balan isn’t your
regular actor- she has played strong woman-oriented roles in the past and is well-known for the same. Therefore, we believe she will
appeal to our core audience – a sizeable portion of which are rural and underprivileged women.

LAUNCH OF BLUE SOCH
Helping millions shape their tomorrow
The campaign was a culmination of months of research, discussion and the well-thought
out creation of a new brand identity and campaign. It encapsulates the common man’s day
to day life struggles and miseries and his ability to succeed and dream big despite it with
support from MPG.
This has been our biggest brand campaign launch yet which introduced our new philosophy
of Blue Soch- a salute to the spirit of our customers who demonstrate hard work and deter-
mination despite the most di cult circumstances. The key message that the campaign
drives is that MPG believes in the capability of the common man and supports their “Blue
Soch”, in an endeavour to enable these women & men, work towards transforming their
own lives.
The new brand identity and campaign was conceptualised and executed by our new
communications partner, L&K Saatchi and Saatchi after thoroughly understanding the
ethos of our brand.
Crucial step was to educate the Muthootians and make everyone understand the core
ethos and purpose of the campaign along with changing the way our branches looked. The
team was completely excited with the branch activities which were planned. All wore the
Vidya Balan masks and visited nearby shops and houses to distribute leaflets and share
about the gold loan and MSME products. This campaign has surely been well received by our
customers who have now started di erentiating us and calling us by our association with
our new brand Ambassador Vidya Balan. It’s a big step which surely will leave a lasting
impact on not just our customers, but also on our employees.
The campaign celebrates these everyday heroes in every walk of life and “Blue Soch” is an
ode to this group of strong-willed individuals. It rea rms our positioning as we stand true
to the vision of being the most trusted financial service provider to the common man.
**Conceptualized & created by : Team L&K, Saatchi and Saatchi. The truly moving portrayal of our
Muthoot Blue customers and their Blue Soch got captivatingly captured in the films, by director, Nikhil
Rao.

PROVES MERIT
AT THE FIRST BREAK
Dedication, hard work and a little financial help from Muthoot Microfin helped 25-year-old
housewife Rani overcome the hurdles of poverty and prove her merit. Rani lives at
Ariyakuppam in Pondicherry with her daily labourer husband Ramu.
Rani opened a thatched-up tailoring unit near her home, when her husband who works at a
nearby factory lost his job due to shut down. She started her tailoring unit with an old sewing
machine inherited from her mother. She started by stitching clothes for her friends and
neighbours and initially the income she earned were just enough to run her small family. Rani
was struggling during this period and was desperately looking for a financial support.
During this time, a Muthoot Microfin Relationship O cer approached and detailed her of
Muthoot Microfin’s microfinance o ering. Rani was excited to know about Muthoot’s simple
loan processes and she soon joined a JLG at her neighbourhood. She received her first loan
amount of ₹15,000 and invested that amount in purchasing a brand-new sewing machine and
quality materials like thread, fabric, scissors, etc.
Muthoot Microfin also provided financial literacy training which helped her manage the
finance better. Rani worked hard on her enterprise and received immense goodwill over time.
She began to be known as the best tailor in her region.
Rani is now on her second cycle loan of ₹35,000 and is looking to expand her business by
opening another branch at Ariyakuppam. Her daily profit has now reached ₹500 from a meagre
₹100 at the time of association with Muthoot Microfin a couple of years back. Today, Rani
invests most of her profit on her expansion plans apart from renovating
their old house.
