My Answer:I suppose the reason Winnie Foster went with the

Summarize
Chapters 1-8

In chapters 1-8 of Tuck Everlasting, it describes how Winnie Foster meets the Tucks.
● Winnie lives in an overprotective house in the village of Treegap with her
parents and grandmother.Their house is on the edge of the woods they own
but never go into.
● The Tucks are getting excited to see their sons whom they have not seen in ten
years. Mae is heading off to meet them, but they say that she has to be careful
not to be seen. She does not look in the mirror before she goes because it
says she has looked the same for the past 87 years. May takes along her
music box as she goes off to meet her sons.
● Winnie has a conversation with a toad. She talks about how hard her life is and
she decides to run away.
● That night Winnie heads out to her yard and meets a stranger walking by who
asks her about the woods and the people she knows in the area. He tells her
that he is looking for a family. Winnie’s grandmother comes out to tell Winnie to
go inside. Just then some music is heard in the woods. The grandmother says
it is the elf music she hasn’t heard in years. Winnie thinks it sounds like a
music box and the stranger is very interested in it.

Chapters 9-17

Chapters 9 and 10

hot and tired?

My Answer:The tucks made it easier for winnie by having miles
hold winnie and by giving her a blue straw hat to give her some
shade.

Chapter 10 Question:Analyze the differences between the Tuck’s house and

Winnie’s house.

My Answer: “The cottage where she lived was always
squeaking clean, mopped and swept and scoured into limp
submission. There was no room for carelessness, no putting
things off until later. The Foster women had made a fortress out
of duty. But the difference is the tucks. And Winnie was in
training. So she was unprepared for the homely little house
beside the pond, unprepared for the gentle eddies of dust, the
silver cobwebs, the mouse who lived—and welcome to him!—in
a table drawer. There were only three rooms.

Chapters 11 and 12

Chapter 11 Question:Analyze the differences between dinner at the Fosters and

dinners at the Tucks.

My Answer:I think the differences are the fact that there are no
napkins you can sit on the floor there is absolutely no talking
and they can lick things off their fingers.

Chapter 12 Question: What did Tuck mean when he told Winnie that life is a

“wheel” that continues to move around?

My Answer:I think may tuck means that everything just keeps
moving along in a circle as a cycle.

My Answer:I suppose the stranger took the horse to take it and
ride on it to get him to the fosters house more quickly.

My Answer:Jesse was crazy about being able to be the same
age and get married and do whatever they wanted while having
a great time and winnie was like ya um ta ta totally let me think
about that was a little bit concerned.

My Answer:The strangers plan was to basically take the wood
from the fosters and possibly if he could own it he would cut
down just couple of trees but not all.

Chapter 16 Question:Why do you suppose the stranger ditched the constable? Explain.

My Answer:I think the reason the reason the stranger ditched
the constopable is because he kept growing and was like 3 to
four hours and was frowning and trying everything in his power
to no do the anymore.

Chapter 17 Question:What did Miles reveal to Winnie about his children during the boat trip?

My Answer:Miles revealed that his son would have been 82
witch is so so crazy.

of detail.

Chapters 9-17

The whole chapter was basically all about just how winnie was kidnapped. The
man in the yellow suit says he knows where she is and has followed her
throughout the whole time she was kidnapped but when she was kidnapped she
did not get hurt or anything that could simply scratch her. The fosters are the
one that kidnapped winnie but also decided to tell winnie about the special
water.

Chapters 18 and 19

Chapter 18 Question:What did the family have for breakfast?

My Answer:The family had flapjacks for breakfast.

Chapter 19 Question:Explain how the Tucks and the stranger
knew the same person.

My Answer:The Tucks and the stranger knew the same person
because the person was the stranger’s mother and the person
was also Mae Tuck’s friend.

Chapters 20 and 21

Chapter 20 Question:Explain what will happen to Mae if the
stranger dies.

My Answer:Mae will get hung from the gallow which is really
bad.

kidnapping? Explain.

My Answer:The Tucks were not charged because Winnie
claimed that it was not kidnapping, she just wanted it.

Chapters 22 and 23

the spring water so when Winnie turns 17 she can drink the
spring water and then be 17 for her whole life with Jesse.

conscience.

My Answer:She is struggling with her conscience because she
doesn't know how to explain her excuse if she does get caught
for going away.

Chapters 24 and 25

Chapter 24 Question: Winnie ponders these lines from a poem:
“Stone walls do not a prison make, Nor iron bars a cage.” What do
they mean?

My Answer:External constraints cannot imprison someone whose spirit

and thoughts are free.

Chapter 25 Question: Explain how the toad is in danger.

My Answer:The toad is in danger because a dog wants to eat it.

What does the reader learn from the epilogue in this novel? Do
you think the epilogue was necessary? You learn that you don't
always have to live forever nor should you have to if you do not
want to. You should make your own choices in life and be your
own person.
