Participants came together, eager to showcase their talents and to compete with each other in various categories such as Singing, Dancing, Spelling Bee, Story Telling, Culinary and Arts. 4 5 | EVE N T S Most participants joined this competition to showcase their talents. They also had invited their family and friends to attend this event to support and watch their performances. It was an air of many mirthful laughter and cheers. Dancers, musicians, singers, gymnasts, and more wowed the crowd with their levels of artistry in their performances. All of them were unbelievably talented. Congratulations to all our performers, we admire the array of talents among our students.

EVE N TS | 4 6 Malaysia Day – by Zayyan From our amazing decorations to our very own KLCC and Merdeka tower constructed out of the items we considered as wastes, this day will be remembered by the teachers and students who worked hard to commemorate the success of Malaysia thus far. To celebrate the spirit of Merdeka, many students and teachers dressed up in traditional Malaysian attire. Absolutely breathtaking to behold, that is! The winning classes that participated in decorating and quizzing were given hefty prizes. For a relaxing end to the day, OIS arranged a BBQ party and karaoke. Both teachers and students had an amazing time as they fellowshipped with one another.

Carnival Day – by Angelynn Ng Mae Lynn The long-awaited carnival has finally returned after two years due to the pandemic. On the 30th of September, Friday, our school organized carnival day, a whole-day event. The day to have fun and be stress-free apart from our busy schedules. Carnival Day 2022 was overall a huge success and everyone including the students and teachers had a delightful time. The carnival day would not be possible without the teachers' and students' combined efforts. It was truly a memorable day for all of us. There were many enjoyable activities that was held. At the Ground floor, there was an escape room, a mini petting zoo, racing simulators, and bingo. Besides, water activities took place at the carpark area such as catching guppy fishes in the fishing pool, playing water balloons and an inflatable water slide where some students and teachers got drenched in water. On top of that, creatively decorated stalls filled the canteen with varieties of scrumptious food and refreshing beverages. There were more fun-filled activities at the 2nd floor like carnival games such as balloon darts, wheel of fortune, smash the cans, and many more. At the 3rd floor, there were nerf guns, archery, movies, henna, and 3D-printed keychains up for sale. 4 7 | EVE N T S

Science Workshop at Sunway University – by Ellese Lo EVE N TS | 5 0 Upon arrival, we were brought to a lecture room where we were briefed about the booklets and leaflets we received as well as asked to fill up a form about our career paths. Next, the student helpers guided us on a tour around the campus. The campus had a very grand structure and was full of a variety of facilities. Afterwards, we were guided to the science labs where we conducted experiments. We conducted two experiments in teams of 2. The first experiment was about swirling milk where we added drops of food colouring into milk and dipping a cotton bud immersed in detergent into the solution to cause the colouring to swirl and move around. The other experiment involved extracting strings of DNA from a banana. I would say the experiments were super fun and not too challenging to conduct. Once we were done with the experiments, we headed to the cafeteria to eat our lunch. We were also given some time to roam around the campus. The food there was mediocre, but it was enjoyable because of the clean and spacious environment. Finally, we returned to school at around 12:45 P.M. in the afternoon. On 15th of November 2022, the entire Grade 8 of Oakbridge International School went on a trip to Sunway University. The purpose for this trip was to conduct several science experiments and tour around the campus. Many memorable experiences were indeed gained throughout the trip. In conclusion, the trip has allowed us to gain multiple experiences which we can utilize in the future as well as learn and apply to our current life. Touring around the campus has shown us how classes function and the students’ campus lives. Overall, it was a very fun and great experience that I’m sure most of us got to enjoy.
