Château de Rochemorin White
Appellation : Pessac-Léognan
Chateau : Château de Rochemorin
The wines of Rochemorin were much appreciated in the 18th century by the
lord of the manor, who was none other than Charles Louis de Secondat, Baron
de Montesquieu. The famous philosopher and author of "The Spirit of the Laws
" was full of praise for these vivacious aromatic wines. You too will be delighted
with the honeysuckle, blackcurrant bud, pineapple, apple and pear flavours that
combine marvellously on the palate. The wines are also full-bodied, juicy and
very fresh. The smoky finish reflects the unique gravel terroir in
Pessac-Léognan.

Vintage 2007
Wine style :
Elegant and Fruity
Weather :
Although the first half of the year was exceptionally hot, temperatures were lower than seasonal
averages starting in July. In fact, this was the coolest summer since 1989. Summer sunshine was
slightly less than usual. A drought set in at the beginning of September.
Oenologist consultant :

Tasting Comment
Appareance :
Wonderfully crystalline, brilliant pale greeny yellow.
Nose :
Complex, intense nose, citrus and floral (hyacinth, acacia), assorted fruits
add to the complexity (apricots, white peach). Smoky, vanilla notes
characteristic of the terroir and the oak aging.
Mouth :
Balanced, elegant throughout, its smoothness and opulence are matched by
freshness and excellent length. Fresh fruit notes (grapefruit, fruit salad)
linger on the palate. Drink now and within the next five years. Will
complement sophisticated fish dishes such as salmon steak with roast
tomatoes and fennel, grilled croaker with asparagus, cream and caviar and
also a simple dressed crab.

Ratings and reviews
The Wine Enthusiast : 01.10.2014 - Note : 87.00 / 100
A soft, gentle-textured wine, that has ripe fruit, flavors of pears and white peach, lifted gently by
spice and open, fresh acidity. Not a wine for aging, but delicious this summer.

The Wine Spectator : 01.10.2011 - Note : from 87.00 to 90.00 / 100
Apples, lemons and melons on the nose. Same on the palate. Medium-bodied, with bright acidity
and a medium finish.
Decanter : 01.07.2010 - Note : 16.50 / 20
Another all-Sauvignon blanc wine, with oatmeal & almond and an apple fruitiness. The palate is
bright, with toasty oak underpinning crisp citrus, juicy apple & pear fruit. Very drinkable but will
age. 2010-2020
Le Guide Hachette : 01.09.2009
Note :
Formerly a farm belonging to the Montesquieu estates, this vineyard is planted on a Graves terroir
overlaying the shelly sand typical of the appellation. The vines obviously do well here, and have
produced an attractive wine, yellow-green, with a fresh nose of flowers, white peach and toasty
overtones. The palate stays fresh while showing generous, elegant body. Drink now, will keep a few
years more.
Decanter : 01.07.2009
Note :
Refined flowers, fruit and discreet spice. Crisp, calm and collected. Precisely weighted with a fine
finish. Nice and steely. From 2010.

Superb nose of pear and peach, crisp yet opulent, lovely mineral notes and a long finish.
