Messenger / Buddy System
 Messengers should be responsible students.
 2 students must walk together if they are

delivering something.
 3 students must walk if one of the students is

not coming back to the class (clinic or
checkout)

Be Safe

 Walk everywhere on campus.
 Stay in line with teacher.

 Walk with voice level 0.

RECESS/PLAYGROUND PROCEDURES

1. WALK ALL THE WAY TO THE END OF THE SIDEWALK
AND WAIT TO BE RELEASED.

2. LEAVE SAND, STICKS, ROCKS, ETC. ON THE GROUND.
3. KEEP HANDS AND FEET TO YOURSELF

(NO PUSHING OR GRABBING).
4. USE EQUIPMENT SAFELY.
5. NO TACKLING GAMES ALLOWED.
6. PLAY FAIRLY, SHOW GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP.
7. STAY AWAY FROM THE COURT AND PE CLASSES.
8. KEEP THE TEACHER IN VIEW AT ALL TIMES.
9. WHEN THE TEACHER SIGNALS, LINE UP IMMEDIATELY.

Recess/Playground Rules


1. Students must remain in teacher’s sight at all times.


2. Use equipment properly (i.e. no running on or around equipment
and no sitting or standing on railings or pull‐up bars).


3. Sand is to be used as a fall zone (i.e. No digging in the sand or
throwing of sand).



4. Only one student goes down the slide at a time (never up).


5. Students are to go down slide on their bottom only.


6. No sitting, standing, and/or hanging upside down on pull‐up bars
and/or monkey bars.


7. Students must remain in their personal space (no hitting or
pulling on each other).

Playground Expectations

Objective:
Students will understand how to behave appropriately on the playground.



Brainstorm & Discuss:
 What do you like best about the playground?
 What do you like the least about the playground?
 Which adults have the right to remind you to be safe, respectful, responsible,
and cooperative on the playground?
 Who is available to assist if you need help while on the playground?
 Do you know how to report a playground problem?


Teach:

Explain why it is important to behave appropriately on the playground.
 What does it look like to be SAFE on the playground?

 stay in designated areas
 avoid play fighting
 keep hands/feet to yourself
 use equipment properly (i.e. no running on or around equipment, no sitting or

standing on railings or pull‐up bars, no jumping off the equipment, always go
down slide feet first, and no hanging upside down on pull‐up bars).
 tell an adult if someone gets hurt
 What does it look like to be RESPECTFUL on the playground?
 wait your turn in line, no cutting or “saving spots”
 be a good sport – win or lose
 What does it look like to be RESPONSIBLE on the playground?
 follow the rules of all games
 return all equipment to the designated location
 listen to the instructions of ALL adults

1. Review the reasons why it is important to behave appropriately on the
playground.
2. Talk about comments and concerns students voiced during the discussion.

END OF DAY PROCEDURES

1. Clean up on top of and under your desk.

2. Make sure everything is put away neatly.

3. Place take home folders / papers in your
backpack.

4. Line up at door quietly, in line order until
dismissed.

BUS LOOP



Be Safe

 Walk with the teacher in a single-file line.
 Remain in a single-file line to board the bus.

Be Respectful

 Stay on the sidewalk, wait until the driver has
stopped & opened the door before approaching the
bus.

Be Responsible

 Board buses in an orderly manner.

Be Cooperative

 Listen the first time – every time – all day long
 Board bus when instructed by an adult.

Bus Dismissal


Objective:

Students will understand how to ride a school bus appropriately.



Brainstorm & Discuss:

 What do you like best about the bus?

 What do you like the least about the bus?

 Which adults have the right to remind you to be safe, respectful, responsible
and cooperative on the bus?

 Who is available to assist if you need help while on the bus?

 Do you know how to report a bus problem?


Teach:

Explain why it is important to behave appropriately in the process of dismissal to,
boarding, and in transport on the bus..

 What does it look like to be SAFE in the dismissal process to the bus loop?
 Backpack in appropriate carry position
 Hands behind the back or to the side
 Walking appropriately in a single‐file line


 What does it look like to be RESPECTFUL in the dismissal process to the bus
loop?
 Standing quietly in line (no more than a level 1 voice)
 Use kind words and appropriate language


 What does it look like to be RESPONSIBLE in the dismissal process to the bus
loop?

PARENT PICK-UP
