This course will help you align your personal philosophy of teaching with
the DepEd’s vision, mission, core values, mandate and strategic

directions. It will also give you a glimpse of what a teacher’s school year
is like, and help you become more accustomed to the daily life of a DepEd
teacher. It introduces you to the guidelines, processes, and standardized

forms to help you easily adjust to your new work environment.

In your first year, you may expect excitement, curiosity, apprehension,
and even doubts. This section of the TIP is crafted to support and bolster
your first year of teaching experiences in the public-school system. We
will explore the school year at a glance and observe how the principles in

this module may affect your day-to-day activities.

1. What educational practices observed in the historical
stages of development are the foundational elements of
education in Philippines?
According to the history, the Philippine education had
manifested in the culture of the people. The education
establishments comprised of the private schools that
are owned and manage by private individuals or
corporations and the public schools that are owned and
manage by the state.
2. Which turning point in the history of the public education
system has huge implications in the development of the
Department of Education?
Under American Colonial Rule allowed it to spread their
cultural values, particularly the English language, to the
Filipino people. Instruction in English language, and
American history, lead to forming of a national identity
and Filipino nationalism.
3. What are the implications of the trifocalization of education in
the administration and management of education in the
Philippines?
This trifocalization (or trifocalisation) of education
aimed to give proper attention to (i) basic, (ii) training
and vocational, and (iii) higher education. It has
committed itself to achieving universal primary
4education and has moved to provide free access to
basic public education for all children.

As part of the DepEd institutions, I will provide my learners

2. RA No. 9155 states that “the school shall be the heart of the
formal education system.” How does this statement relate to you
as a teacher and as a part of a larger organizational landscape?

As a teacher, this statement for me implies that the school is
the center of the teaching and learning process, that the
teacher and the school shall have a single aim of providing
the best possible education for all learners. We teachers
should provide learning experiences that are suited to the
students and prepare them on how to deal with the
challenges of the continuously changing world. As a teacher,
in order to provide a quality education, we should also seek
continuous professional development and follow the rules
set by the institution.
