Social Sciences:
These courses will allow students to see themselves as individuals who participate in society in multiple
ways. A special emphasis will be placed on developing an understanding of the individual as a unique
part of the global community and understanding decisions that affect the students’ psychological,
social, economic, environmental, and physical well-being. Thematically driven units will align topics
while stressing human thought, decisions, and relationships. Students will combine analysis of rich text,
classroom discussion, and personal experience to unite the ‘social’ and ‘scientific’ aspects of the Social
Sciences and will examine human and societal issues.
