LILY’S DREAM

CHAPTER ONE

Lily was a 17-year-old young girl. She is tall, has a fair skin and short hair. She is very good in her
studies and always does her work attentively in class. Entire teachers love her very much. She is a
vey kind and humble person but she is also a quiet girl in school who spends most of her time
studying and working because she needs to support her family. Her family is poor, plus her father is
paralyzed. Lily never once felt ungrateful for what she had been given. She loves to sing. She wants
to be a singer just like Taylor Swift and she has been adoring Taylor Swift since she was 11 year old
when the first time she saw Taylor Swift on television. She wanted to get extra music classes so
much but she know that her mother could not afford it because she has two more siblings.
Therefore, she hid her dream and keep it as secret. She always sing at home whenever nobody is
around. Sadly, Lily always been bullied at school. Some of her classmates didn’t like her because
their teacher always praised her and she has been gifted with good look. Luckily, Lily has a best
friend named Sarah. Sarah always help her when she’s been bullied. She always grateful to have a
friend like Sarah.

CHAPTER TWO

One day, Miss Naddy who is her teacher told everyone to come to the front of the class and talk
about their ambitions. Finally, its lily’s turn to speak in front of the class. She felt nervous but she
took a deep breath and said “I want to be a singer like Taylor…”she didn’t finish the sentence yet but
suddenly the whole class burst their laugh. Some of them said “You will not make it” “keep on
dreaming”. Miss Naddy asked them to stop and advised them. Lily felt ashamed and she talked to
herself “I should never tell anyone about my dream and I just have to give up”. She felt unworthy
and devastated.

After a while, she returned home and locked herself in the room until late at night. Her mother felt
something is wrong and went to her room. Lily’s mother asked “Are you okay?”. She told her
mother what happened at school. Her mother pitied her daughter and said “don’t let others bring
you down, you can accomplish anything if you set your mind to, I always believe in you darling,
dream big Lily! “. Right after that, Lily hugged her mother tightly. Lily realized that she shouldn’t let
other people’s word bring her down.

CHAPTER THREE
After a week, Miss Naddy asked Lily to come to her office. When Lily’s arrived, Miss Naddy gave her
a piece of paper.

She felt excited but worried at the same time. Miss Naddy told her “I know you loves to sing so much
Lily and I once hear you sing in the class. You are talented Lily. Prove to everyone that you can do it.
“ Lily felt overwhelmed and she said to Miss Naddy “Thank you Miss Naddy for giving me this golden
opportunity, I really appreciate it and I will try my best”. She can’t wait to join this competition. For
her, this is one of the way to make her dream come true.
It's been a month, everyday Lily will practice with her voice, the way she sing, the vocal and
everything pertaining to singing. She practised alone after school because her family can’t afford to
send her to the vocal class. But, it doesn’t matter to Lily, she just trying her best. She always seek for
Miss Naddy’s help to listen to her and asks for comments.
Finally, the most awaited day has arrived. Lily felt nervous and couldn’t control her feelings but she
keeps reminding herself that there are so many people rooting for her especially her family, Miss
Naddy and her best friend. She will make them proud. She chose Taylor Swift’s song entitled ‘The

Best Day’. The reason she chose this song is because she felt this song tells the story about her. She
sang beautifully. Everyone was surprised by her voice. After she finished the song, everyone stood
up and gave thunderous applause. She felt delighted. What makes her more contented was, she
won the competition. Everyone praised and proud of her. This was the first step for her. She had a
long way to go and she is determined to work harder than before to achieve her dream. She wants
to prove to everyone that anyone can dream big, and don’t ever think they wouldn’t make it. She
remembered Taylor Swift once said never believe everyone who tells you that you don’t deserve
what you want and dream bigger, work harder.
