Providing Help • Creating Hope
WE FIGHT POVERTY and its consequences in our local communities
through crisis intervention services and by strengthening families

resulting in new opportunities and changed futures.

LETTER from the CEO

Dear Friend of Catholic Charities,

Catholic Charities is one of the largest non-profit organizations in the Inland Counties that
dares to fight poverty and its consequences. Staff provide the necessary help that creates
new opportunities and changed futures for families burdened by the harshness of poverty.

The sheer number of poor families in our region is staggering. There are countless
challenges that the poor endure, yet most are very adept and able to sustain a very fragile
level of stability. This is the case until an unexpected crisis occurs in the family. Then the
spiral downward begins unless there is necessary help and support from the community.

Fighting poverty is difficult because there is a tidal wave of need and not “THE SHEER NUMBER
nearly enough resources to properly respond. When the vast number OF POOR FAMILIES
of families in need of social services in our region are matched with the IN OUR REGION IS
scarcity of resources to help, we are confronted by the perfect storm. Yet, STAGGERING.”
after nearly 40 years, Catholic Charities continues to do our part with the
resources we have to address the often ignored needs of low-income
families in our two-county area.

This Report to the Community offers a quick look at the work of Catholic Charities and some paths for you to join
us in our compassionate care for families with nowhere else to turn for help. The hard work, courage, expertise, and
compassion of staff combined with the support and generosity of the community is the only way we can continue
to act on our motto of “Providing Help, Creating Hope” where it is needed most in our local communities.
