OAK HILL RECIPROCAL

A reminder that CCR and Monroe members have access to one (1) tee time per day (as available) at Oak Hill this
season, in August, September and October. Times will be split equally between the East and West courses. In return,
Oak Hill members will have access to one (1) tee time per day at CCR and Monroe (as available) during the time of their
renovation, which will be August, September and October of 2019, and April and May of 2020. Please note that a greens
fee of $50 plus any applicable cart charges will be in place for players choosing to take advantage of this arrangement.
Members may also choose to bring guests, but guests will be charged at the normal guest fee rate of each course
respectively.

Please note that all arrangements must go through the CCR Golf Shop. For those members interested in playing at
Oak Hill during the period above, please see the following procedural information:

• All play requests must go through the CCR Golf Shop and can be made up to 30 days in advance of the requested

date.

• CCR golf staff will verify available date requests and make specific tee times with Oak Hill golf staff directly.
• All player names must be provided at least 48 hours in advance of the requested time.
• CCR members will have access to the East Course on odd numbered days and the West Course on even numbered

days.

• All members will be charged a fee of $50 and all guests will be charged the normal guest fee for each course.
• Any reservation that is cancelled less than 48 hours in advance, and is not re-filled by another group, will be

subject to a $50 per player cancellation fee.

• The golf staff will have full discretion over the frequency of “same member” requests.

Feel free to contact us should you have any questions - 585-385-1600 or [email protected]

NO TIPPING POLICY REMINDER

The Country Club of Rochester, like most of the country’s top clubs, has a no tipping policy. The concept
is that a member should not feel when at their home away from home, that they need to carry cash around
to recognize someone every time they have a service rendered. Excellent service is an expectation and
members are not put in a position of competing with other members with extra gratuities. When members
are entertaining guests at our Club, they can tell them that we are a non-tipping Club, and that should
hopefully put their guest at ease right away. In summary, we ask each member to observe the no tipping
policy as they would any other policy at the Club. In return, we encourage our members to contribute to our
Club’s Holiday fund at the end of the year.

GROUNDS & GREENS

Rick Holfoth, CGCS | Golf Course Superintendent

[email protected] |585-381-1844

We are getting some much-needed rainfall as I write this. The Rochester area was deemed in moderate drought conditions in
Mid-July, running over 2 inches behind in average rainfall. We appear to be making some gains on the drought conditions the
last week of July. The irrigation system has been put to the test and has performed well during these dry conditions. The
irrigation system is used to provide a base level of moisture and supplemental hand watering is required to even out the dry
spots. The goal in watering this way is to prevent overwatering and provide a firm playing surface both in the fairways and the
greens. The golf course plays much better when we can keep the surfaces on the drier side. This often means that some areas go
“off-color” and show some level of dormancy, which is much
preferred to soggy playing conditions. The recent rains will
certainly improve the appearance of the golf course, but our goal
will always be a firm playing surface. The golf course is holding
up well so far this season and we have been able to meet the
2018 golf course maintenance consistently.

The only outstanding projects for this season are some cart path
repairs and resurfacing on the 4th, 5th and 7th holes, equipment
purchases and the construction of an additional storage building
next to the existing storage building on the 8th hole. The
additional storage building will be used to store pool and patio
furniture in the winter and provide extra equipment storage all
year. The approval process through the town of Brighton is
moving along and we hope to have all approvals in place for a
fall 2018 construction. This new storage building is phase one
(the small phase) of several overdue improvements for the golf
course maintenance facility. Phase two includes an addition to
allow for employee areas at the current facility, as well as a new
roof, windows and siding on the pool side of the facility. If not
included in phase two, the next piece is additional storage on the
north end of the building to move equipment currently stored
outside under cover, as well as add an area for the horticulturist
and associated equipment for the gardens and landscape
maintenance. These improvements are long overdue and have
been pushed down the road to a critical point. I will keep you
posted as these future improvements are scheduled. The golf
course and greens are holding up very well so far, and I look
forward to seeing you out on the golf course!
