FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER

Mike Smith, CCM, CCE

“Champions are made from something they have deep inside, a desire, a dream, a vison.” - Muhammad Ali

This month’s Thistle is dedicated to our Club Champions. First, we’d like to recognize our Golf Champions—Patrick Cahill
(Men); Kathy Lindahl (Women); Kelly Frank (Senior) and Graham Gaenzle (Junior). Each of you has worked hard this season
to perfect your game and to make a run at being recognized as the “best of the best” at CCR. The results of your hard work and
performance on the course have created fond memories and a place in our Club history.

Our other Champions are our staff, who work hard each and every day at the Club, to provide their very best in service and an
elite experience for our members and guests. This month marks a very special milestone for one of our employees, Manisha
Patel, who has just celebrated her 30th year on our team. Manisha is more than just our Club’s Receptionist, she is the true
embodiment of a Club Ambassador. Over the years, Manisha has maintained a consistent approach to hospitality. No matter
the day, you will always receive a friendly hello and genuine warmth from Manisha. Team members like Manisha, who have
the ability to engage and connect and who strive for excellence every day, are what make our Club so unique.

We have added an employee recruitment link on the public side of our Club website and we invite you to take a look at this new
feature. We have moved to a paperless employee hiring system and now require prospective team members to participate in an
online assessment as the first part of the screening process. This evaluation will help us to recognize top candidates. We have
also created a great recruitment video; this brief glimpse into our team culture will enhance our recruitment program. Please
take a moment to view the video within the employment web page; we’re proud to share our top-notch employee culture with
our members and the local community!

Finally, it is with great pleasure that we announce, CCR is now an ELITE Distinguished Club. This “best of the
best” premier designation is a result of our continued commitment to Board Room Magazine’s strict standards
of excellence, and signifies that our Club provides a WORLD CLASS MEMBER EXPERIENCE. This fall, we will
also be included in the Platinum Clubs of America vote, which ranks the top clubs across the country. We’ll
have the final results of this Platinum Club distinction by the end of the year.

Once again, congratulations to all of our Champions! See you at the Club! ~ Mike

WOMEN’S GOLF ASSOCIATION
Peggy Boucher, WGA Chair

Once again, summer has passed all too quickly. I am thankful to the CCR staff for all of their hard work in keeping the course
in great condition given our hot, dry July, followed by torrential rainstorms in August. The CCR Golf staff, as always, kept us
enthused with email updates, golf clinics, lessons and encouraging advice when our golf games slipped a little.

This year we chose the Villa of Hope for our Charity Day Tournament. Between the 18-hole golfers on August 8th and the 9-hole
golfers on August 15th, we raised over $2800.00. Thank you for supporting this wonderful Rochester institution as it celebrates
its 75th year of helping kids and families in crisis.

All too soon, we will have our end-of-season closing event and lunch. Mark your calendar for Wednesday, September 19th.
Once again the whole course will be set up as par 3 holes. Following golf, there will be a special celebration lunch. Be sure to
watch for emails from Brian Corbitt.

September is a great month for golf. Enjoy ⛳

ANNOUNCING A NEW ENTERTAINMENT SERIES AT THE CLUB: SINGER-SONGWRITER NIGHTS

Calling music lovers of all ages and those who simply enjoy gathering with friends to hear some great music! We’re launching
Singer-Songwriter Nights beginning this month. On Thursday, September 20th, the library becomes an intimate listening room
filled with songs and stories from local musicians, passionate about their art and excited to share with our members and guests.

CCR member and music enthusiast, Mark Anthony has spearheaded this endeavor and through his close connections in the
local music community, is able to bring together these five artists to kick off the series. Talented local musicians, Jerry Falzone,
Ben & Rita Proctor, Jeff Riales and Chris Wilson will take us on a brief journey told through the lyrics, notes and tunes of their
music. Each artist will take over the stage for a portion of the evening. In the coming months, we will invite each musician back
for their own evening, where they will continue the connection, sharing meaningful stories and performing heartfelt songs.

A bit of history to start…For almost two decades beginning 6:30 pm
in the 80’s, this social mixer aptly named, “Mixed Greens”
took place every other year for just one cool, autumn night.
Each participating club would transform their own spaces
from top to bottom with themed décor, entertainment,
music and finely-detailed food and drink. Members and
guests traveled the club circuit throughout the evening,
safely transported by continuously running shuttles. As the
years went on, each event grew to be bigger and better than
the last and all clubs involved agree, it was one of the most
anticipated nights of the year!

Fast forward to 2018…Three clubs are reviving the tradition.
CCR has joined efforts with Oak Hill and Monroe to bring
back one of the best collaborations in food, drink, music and
entertainment! In keeping with “Mixed Greens” tradition,
each club is planning a theme for the evening.

On November 3rd for one night only, CCR will transform into
