Thursday, June 28th 6:00 pm

Last year, over 700 members and guests joined us for an evening filled
with food, music, plenty of family activities and of course our long-standing
annual tradition—fireworks! It may be hard to top last year’s festivities,
but we believe this year just may be the best year yet! We’ve got quite an
evening planned before the fireworks at dusk, including lively music with
the Jimmy Jam Band, carnival-type rides for the kids and adults, Lugia’s Ice
Cream Truck and more! Online registration is open!

Now that the weather has improved, the activity in the golf Derby Day Tournament ~ May 5, 2018
operation is steadily picking up. All of our seasonal staff are Winners: Mark Murphy and John Burt
now back on board, including a good crew on the bag room
staff. We are happy to have young men representing schools Annual Meeting Tournament ~ May 18, 2018
such as Harvard, Bucknell, Penn State, Dayton, Georgetown, Winners: Peter Dugan and Dan Hogan
Xavier, St. Bonaventure and Nazareth just to name a few.

Our caddie program is now back in full swing, so please
remember that if you are planning on bringing three guests
to play, it is a club policy that the group is required to have a
forecaddie. Forecaddies provide an extra level of service for
you and your guests and help to maintain a proper pace of
play. Please notify the golf shop in advance, if you are
bringing three guests and we will make the necessary
arrangements.

Email notifications have been sent, but please be aware that
our Tuesday evening Women’s 9 & Dine events begin
on June 5th and our Wednesday Men’s Night events on June
13th. If you are interested in signing up or need more
information, please contact:

Hole-In-One’s—Lou Cianciola (Hole #4), John Burt (Hole #11)

In closing, I would like to remind everybody to continue our
awareness of the club policies regarding care for the course
and cart usage. In addition to filling divots and repairing ball
marks, please remember that carts are required to be 30 feet
away from tees & greens, and are not to be driven onto the
range tee! We have a beautiful facility, and it takes a team
effort to keep it as such. Thank you in advance for your
cooperation, and we look forward to seeing you soon!

changes to the target greens plans, moving the 3rd green
in line 40-50 yards to the right and increasing the square
footage of the greens more than planned. The biggest
challenge this increase in size created, was finding “clean
fill” to raise the land. Over half of this fill was found
on-site mostly in our dumpsite to the right of the 5th

save and reuse materials.

help from CCR staff who sodded and hauled materials,

completed before they moved on to the next job. The
sodding of the 1st green was completed by our own CCR
staff the day before the range opened.

HISTORY ON DISPLAY

From time to time, the Country Club of Rochester is approached
about materials and artefacts relating to our history and
heritage. These conversations are not always local, but from out
of town clubs, former members and collectors of golf memora-
bilia. These items could be as small as a postcard or match book
with our logo, or a collection of golf clubs. When given the
opportunity to evaluate these items, a description is provided,
we consider its historical value, condition, relevance as well as
to how many of the items are currently in the club’s archives.

Such is the case with our latest acquisition and display. We
were approached about six months ago by a local collector who
had created a display cabinet with Walter Hagen’s golf clubs
and a brief description. We found it to be worth acquiring, and
it is now a part of our tangible history display, located in the
“1895” room to the left of the receptionist. Stop by to look at it
the next time you are visiting the club.

This recent acquisition was made possible by the generosity of
our members: Dr. Jerry J. Cellura and Dr. Louis Cianciola and
Mr. Donald E. Rhoda. Our goal is to collect and preserve
materials which illustrate the growth, development and activi-
ties of the Club so that they are available for use both now and
in the future, and provide ongoing Club displays and exhibits.
