hat are essential oils?

Essential oils are highly concentrated oils that have been extracted from
plants and contain not only an aroma but also some medicinal properties
that can be fairly powerful too for certain issues.

Essential Oils for Allergy Relief:
Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender essential oil naturally contains calming, anti-inflammatory
and anti-histamine properties. Lavender oil generally works well with
skin rashes, eczema, and general irritation; it also works well to help
soothe respiratory allergies
How to use it?
Use a carrier oil like sweet almond oil and add 1-2 drops, then apply
directly to the irritated area; another way to use lavender oil is to use 1-
2 drops of the oil itself (no carrier oil) and apply directly to temples,
wrists or forehead. Be cautious because the oil is very strong when used
alone and therefore it’s important to trial out what works best for your
skin irritation before applying the undiluted oil to skin.
Peppermint Essential Oil
Peppermint essential oil may also help to ease allergies that can affect
the respiratory and digestive tracts because it’s soothing, cooling, and
anti-inflammatory. It also has a strong aroma that may help to clear
respiratory blockage and provide soothing relief as well.

How to use it?
Dilute peppermint oil with a carrier oil like sweet almond oil and add 1-
2 drops of the peppermint oil then apply to chest, forehead or cheeks for
respiratory relief. For digestive relief, add 1-2 drops to either hot or cold
water

Eucalyptus Essential Oil
Eucalyptus oil is extracted from the eucalyptus leaf and may help to
support the respiratory system, and soothe and ease seasonal allergies
and asthma for some. Eucalyptus oil has a stronger aroma than some
other essential oils, so this one should be used more sparingl.y
How to use it?
Add 1-2 drops to a diffuser or a steam inhaler. If you’re holding your
head over a homemade steam inhaler like a hot pot with the oil in the
water, you should use a wet/damp towel to cover your eyes to avoid
irritation.

Roman Chamomile Essential Oil
Roman chamomile essential oil has long been used for its skin soothing
properties and also for aromatherapy (diffusing the scent into the air for
relaxation purposes). Roman chamomile may help with topical rashes
and irritations like eczema and other similar rashes also prompted by
allergies. Roman chamomile oil may also be used in its undiluted form
How to use it?
For most cases, dilute 2-3 drops of chamomile oil in a carrier oil like
coconut oil or sweet almond oil and apply to skin rash. If using for itch-
relief from a bug bite you may be able to add the oil directly to the
affected area, but it’s always a good idea to go light with this because
everyone’s skin reacts in a different way.

Lemon Essential Oil
Lemon essential oil is the last on our list here, but certainly not the least
important. Lemon essential oil works both topically and may also help
to clear congestion in the respiratory tract as it contains cooling, anti-
histamine and anti-inflammatory properties. Additionally, when it comes
to respiratory issues, lemon essential oil may help to relieve excess
mucus and/or may also help to increase blood flow in the body that may
be helpful with reducing congestion

How to use it?
Lemon oil is particularly powerful when used in conjunction with
lavender and peppermint oils. To use with lavender and peppermint
oils, use a diffuser and add equal parts lemon, peppermint and lavender
oils. You can also mix together equal parts lavender, lemon and peppermint
oils and apply directly to forehead, chest and behind ears.
To help reduce intensity of the oils it’s a good idea to blend the mixture
into a carrier oil like sweet almond oil. While lemon oil blends well
with lemon, peppermint and lavender essential oils for use, you can also
use lemon oil by itself and either add 1-2 drops to carrier oil or add 1-2
drops to hot or cold water for a soothing drink.

ld Lady in the Mirror

A very weird thing has happened. A strange old lady has moved into my
house. I have no idea where she came from, or how she got in. I certainly did
not invite her. All I know is that one day she wasn't there, and the next day,
she was.

She is a clever old lady, and manages to keep out of sight for the most part, but
whenever I pass a mirror, I catch a glimpse of her. And whenever I look in the
mirror to check my appearance, there she is hogging the whole thing,
completely obliterating my gorgeous face and body. This is very rude. I have
tried screaming at her, but she just screams back.

If she insists on hanging around, the least she could do is offer to pay part of
the rent, but no. Every once in a while, I find a dollar bill stuck in a coat
pocket, or some loose change under a sofa cushion, but it is not nearly
enough.

I don't want to jump to conclusions, but I think she is stealing money from
me. I go to the ATM and withdraw $100, and a few days later it's all gone. I
certainly don't spend money THAT fast, so I can only conclude that the
money is to buy wrinkle cream. She needs it. And money isn't the only thing I

con: from page

think she is stealing. Food seems to disappear at an alarming rate--especially
the good stu fflike ice cream, cookies, and candy. I can't seem to keep that
stu ffin the house anymore. She must have a real sweet tooth, but she'd better
watch it, because she is really packing on the pounds. I suspect she realizes
this, and to make herself feel better, she is tampering with my scale to make
me think I am putting on weight, too.

For an old lady, she is quite childish. She likes to play nasty games, like going
into my closets when I'm not home and altering my clothes so they don't fit.
And she messes with my files and papers so I can't find anythingT. his is
particularly annoying since I am extremely neat and organized. She also
fiddles with my VCR so it does not record what I have carefully and correctly
programmed.

She has found other imaginative ways to annoy me. She gets into my mail,
newspapers, and magazines before I do, and blurs the print so I can't read it.
And she has done something really sinister to the volume controls on my TV,
radio and telephone. Now, all I hear are mumbles and whispers.

She has done other things--like make my stairs steeper, my vacuum cleaner
heavier and all my knobs and faucets harder to turn. She even made my bed
higher so that getting into and out of it is a real challenge. Lately, she has been
fooling with my groceries before I put them away, applying glue to the lids,
making it almost impossible for me to open the jars. Is this any way to repay
my hospitality?

She has taken the fun out of shopping for clothes. When I try something on,
she stands in front of the mirror and monopolizes it. She looks totally
ridiculous in some of those outfits, plus, she keeps me from seeing how great
they look on me.

Just when I thought she couldn't get any meaner, she proved me wrong. She
came along when I went to get my picture taken for my driver's license, and
just as the camera shutter clicked, she jumped in front of me! No one is going
to believe that the picture of that old lady is me.

HEATING, COOLING, VENTILATION SYSTEMS HAVE FILTERS
It is of great importance to change or clean on regular basis - 60% of service
calls are caused by neglect of the HVAC systems.

DIRTY FILTERS CAUSE
Higher energy cost - Motors - Circuit Boards - induce Blowers bearings
will prematurely burn out or break down - air quality becomes poor within
the dwelling. Cleanliness is of importance.

FOR NEW HOUSE CONSTRUCTION
As of July 1 2016 HRAI Manufacturers, have now set a ruling that all gas
fired appliances cannot be used to warm dwellings - Drywall dust is the
biggest problems - causing parts to wear out, etc. Ideally air handler
operation must be avoided until carpet or flooring installing. Temporary
space heating such as natural gas radiant heater.

WARRANTY
Will be cancelled if construction materials is the cause for break down of
parts or also if found being used in new construction service calls, parts
are expensive therefore mistreatment of HVAC equipment is important
for the home owner and the contractor as well as warranty covered parts
by manufacturer. There has been a ruling by some manufactures in place
no warranty applies to new construction.

What’s My Stage Again: Guilt Gone Wild

Anxiety takes many forms. It is an emotional shapeshifter, and it works
its way into our lives subtly.

Sometimes my anxiety takes the form of guilt. This includes survivor’s
guilt; it also includes sufferer’s guilt (which I don’t think is a term, but
I’m going to use it anyway).

Sufferer’s guilt, to my friend, means that she often feels that she is a burden
to those around her with her illness. She often feels guilty when she needs
to take time of from work; guilty when she sapped of energy; guilty when
she is depressed. This anxiety expressing itself as guilt manifests itself
however it can in her daily life. It even makes her feel guilty when friends or
family voluntarily accompany her to treatment. She feels guilty when she
express pain, because she knows that her pain also hurts those she loves.

There isn’t a person or thing that can pull you out of that muck, nor do I
believe that anyone can simply hoist themselves out of it with ease. It’s a
slow process of unsticking yourself.

Here’s what I say to her, when she feels overwhelmed by guilt: Think of
what you would do in the other person’s situation. If a friend of yours was
sick and needed accompaniment to the hospital, would you feel angry at
them if you volunteered to go with them? If you are out with friends and a
other person told you they suffered from a chronic illness, would it make
you dislike them or not want to spend time with them? When you think
about it rationally, the answer is always “no.”so that's your answer.

Your imagination can play tricks on you; your thoughts may run wild with a
thousand scenarios of bad situations. Her anxiety has made her accustomed
to assuming people are thinking the worst; in fact, the opposite is usually
true. People, for the most part, are generally good. If they’re not, you
shouldn’t trouble yourself with them anyway. Or, as the genius once said,
“Be easy on yourself. Have fun. Only hang around people that are positive
and make you feel good. Anybody who doesn’t make you feel good, kick
them to the curb. And the earlier you start in your life the better. The minute
anybody makes you feel weird and non-included or not supported, either
beat it or tell them to beat it.” We’re all here to exist unabashedly in the
world; it would be much easier and more fun if we could do so together. My
friend is much better now that she is on the right medication and only has
positive people in her live. Love you friend

7 Reasons why I stick to exercise

Reason #1: Exercise will extend years of active independent life
Reason #2: Exercise does not have to be hard, fast, and pounding to reap
rewards

Reason #3: You must use it or you will lose it

Reason #4: Exercise may prevent a bad fall

Reason #5: Exercise will improve your health (even with serious
conditions)

Reason #6: Exercise may improve your mood or lessen your need for
medication
Reason #7: The benefits of exercise are the same for both men and
women
Conclusion

You know why you don’t go to class, but you know you should.
resolve the paradox, you must find a class that’s right for you. At the very
least, make sure your class has these three elements:

1. It should be designed for older adults with an instructor who is
trained to teach them.

2. It should include low-impact aerobics, strength and balance
training, and flexibility.

3. Be sure it’s a safe, clean, friendly environment that you enjoy,
including the music.

It’s really fun once you get acclimated. But until you know the
equipment and the basics, you may need a guide. You may want a
personal trainer to demonstrate the exercises and equipment and take
you through a routine. Will you always need a trainer? Not unless you
choose to have one. Their services can be expensive. Still, I’ve met
people who say they simply won’t exercise without a trainer to nudge
them along. Most people get along just fine.

My advice is this: Once you have developed a good degree of fitness,
remain consistent with your training. Some form of interval training
may serve you well. But above all, be reasonable and realistic. That
means as you get up in years, speak with your doctor before taking on
high intensity interval training.

Stress can have an enormous impact on your health and your quality of life
at any age—and even more so as you get older. Concerns like: "Will there
enough money now that I'm retired?" and "What will happen if I get a
serious illness or become disabled?"

As you age, you're also more likely to experience emotional trauma
associated with loss—the deaths of people close to you (friends, family
members, spouse), your own health, and/or your independence. For many
seniors, dealing with the loneliness caused by multiple losses can lead to a
diminished investment in life—especially when combined with other
issues, like financial concerns.

Try these tips to help deal with difficult changes:

Seniors are increased risk for depression. If you’re feeling overwhelmed,
or unable to cope or deal with stress it’s important to reach out to family,
friend, caregivers and health care providers.Focus on being thankful.
Appreciate and enjoy your life and don't take people or things for granted.
Acknowledge your feelings and express them. Talk to a friend, family
member or health care professional, write in a journal or join a support
group. Embrace your spirituality. Accept that some things are out of your
control. Try to keep your sense of humor.

Lack of Exercise—Exercise is an important part of a good health at every
age; however, many older adults don't get the recommended amounts of
physical activity. Staying active can boost vitality, help maintain strength
and flexibility, improve mental function, reduce your risk for health
problems, and even help relieve chronic pain. Be sure to talk to your
health care provider before beginning an exercise program.

Find an activity you enjoy and begin slowly. Try to incorporate endurance
activities, strengthening exercises, stretching and balancing exercises into
your exercise program. Good choices include walking, swimming, biking,
gardening, tai chi and exercise classes designed for seniors.
