BACKGROUND OF THE PLACE 2023 ZOO'S The Zoological Society of Malaysia, a non-governmental organisation founded to develop the first local zoo for Malaysians, is in charge of running the National Zoo of Malaysia. On November 14, 1963, Zoo Negara receiving its formal opening by Y.T.M. Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj . Since then, it has developed into a renowned zoo. The national zoo of Malaysia is home to around 4000 specimens from 476 different species of fish, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and mammals. Only 5 kilometres separate the city of Kuala Lumpur from the 110-acre National Zoo. More than 90% of the zoo's animals are maintained in roomy exhibits with naturalistic landscapes as the zoo has evolved through time into an open-concept zoo.(2014 National Zoo ). Although the zoo was officially named ‘Zoo Negara’ (National Zoo), it was known as the ‘Zoo in the Jungle’ due to its forested surrounding. 01.

In 1988, Zoo Negara received the "Tourism Gold Award" for its effective breeding and conservation programme. Zoo Negara is held in high esteem by zoos worldwide. The management of Zoo Negara has been built on five pillars: education, conservation, research, recreation, and training, states the organization's official website. It is thought that zoo education is the key to raising public awareness about wildlife protection. As a result, the zoo acts as a public classroom where people may learn about wildlife and develop a passion for it. Second, the National Zoo is home to a number of critically endangered species that are maintained there to reproduce before being released back into the wild. ZOO NEGARA Third, the Zoo serves as a resource for scientists working in subjects including zoology, biology, and veterinary medicine. The Zoo Negara is a leisure area where people may enjoy learning about animals as well as a venue for education. THE DEVELOPMENT STAGE OF THE PLACE The National Zoo's area started off as a tiny space with animals kept in standard-sized cages. back in 1958, at the initiative of the Ministry of Natural Resources, several representatives of Government departments, related organizations, and interested individuals together with Mr. V.M. Hutson met and held preliminary discussions to examine the proposed establishment of the National Zoo. A working group headed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources was formed as a result of discussions among various parties to examine the proposal for the establishment of a National Zoo for the Federation of Malaya and submit a thorough and useful development plan to the Minister of Natural Resources. After 5 years passed, Y.TM. Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj inaugurated the establishment of the National Zoological Park and it was officially opened on 14 November 1963, a year earlier than expected in line with the declaration of the Federation of Malaya which describes Malaysia as a country with various races, cultures and ethnicities. EXPLORATION STAGE CONSOLIDATION STAGE A few months after the establishment of the National Zoo, this area has attracted tourists and the number of tourists coming to this destination is increasing because at that time the entrance fee was only 50 cents for 4 adults and 20 cents for children. not only that, the zoo also received many important visits since its establishment including H.R.H. The Sultan of Selangor made a visit and officially declared the opening of the zoo's gift shop on April 6, 1964, which was only five months after its official opening. Besides that, more shops have been developed within the Zoo Negara area, among them convenience stores, and food and beverage shops. 07.

The National Zoo was among the tourismrelated businesses that the government let reopen on June 10, 2020. By lowering monthly expenses like maintenance costs to RM 1 million, the Zoological Society of Malaysia has taken the initiative. However, stakeholders have implemented severe steps, including engaging with corporate companies and requesting donations from the general population. In actuality, the local media does its part to assist by making announcements on television, radio, and in newspapers in order to raise money to keep going and take care of the welfare of the animals there. The amount of collection and donations from various parties is very extraordinary and exceeds the expected amount which is as much as RM 8 million. Corporate companies such as Foodpanda Sdn. Bhd. sponsored RM200,000 for the giant panda, 99 Speed Mart Sdn. Bhd. through the adoption program (sponsoring the cost of food and animal treatment) In addition, although Zoo Negara is developing and becoming an attraction for foreign tourists in particular, this situation did not last long due to the crisis of the Covid-19 pandemic that hit the country causing the number of tourists to decrease and activities to be of unable to be carried out. this happened because Zoo Negara incurred a considerable amount of losses. After all, they depended entirely on ticket sales to continue operations. As long as the Movement Control Order was implemented, the zoo, which was completely managed by the Zoological Society of Malaysia, had to find other funds to ensure the welfare of the animals and workers. Due to the cancellation of numerous package tours, the tourism industry suffered a loss of RM3.37 billion in the first two months of 2020, according to Malaysia's Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin. As a result, the government estimated that Malaysia's GDP fell by 0.8 percent to 1.2 percent (Nortajuddin, 2020). This has impacted all of Malaysia's tourist destinations, including this Zoo Negara. STAGNATION STAGE REJUVENATION STAGE We can conclude at this stage, the reptile house is a new initiative that is a new attraction for visitors. The reptile house that opened in 2019 aims to help increase the income of the conservation center. The Reptile House, which covers an area of over 0.404 hectares, houses 36 species of reptiles, an increase from the 18 specimens that were available before. 08.

The Administration Office The rotunda is another prominent Roman architectural feature that was incorporated into Zoo Negara's layout. The rotunda serves as the administration building in this instance. This has made the floor plan of the office, the façade, the stairs, and the fish pond circular in shape. Steel and Glass Façade at the Amphitheatre Show The building uses large expanses of glass in effect bringing the building's site into the building. Large expanses of floor-to-ceiling glass provide dramatic views and introduce natural light deep into the interior. DESIGN STANDARD A number of buildings in the area of Zoo Negara were constructed in the Mid-Century Modern, Post-Modern, and traditional Malaysian homes architectural styles. 09.

DESIGN STANDARD The Bird House at Zoo Negara was finished in 1987. A more effective role in research and conservation was made possible by the addition of incubation, brooder, and kitchen facilities. The new Bird Park would be built around the Milky Stork Project, which had been proposed a year earlier. Birds from various species are given the freedom to fly in big cages. Take note of the Hornbills which are found in big numbers in Sabah and Sarawak. Pelicans are also found in big numbers at the lake as you enter the zoo. *Visitors will view the birds by entering the exhibit from a corner onto an elevated platform within the aviary and exiting through the adjacent corner. The Reptile House was officially opened by H.R.H. Sultan of Selangor on 28 July 1988. In the centre of the zoo, over an area of about 22 acres, the zoo had also built a reptile house, also known as the Reptile Park. The first phase consisting of the crocodile pools was completed in late 1985 following the demolition of the old snake house. Phase II work began in December 1987. The steel frame structure, shaped like a two-story tent, offers two levels of airconditioned behind-the-scenes workspace. The first door display area is air-conditioned for comfort. Here there are four fixed exhibits and 14 mobile ones. 10.

IMPLEMENTATION OF TOURISM POLICY The first step in implementing a tourism policy is to develop a comprehensive plan that aligns with the goals and objectives of National Zoo. This plan should consider factors such as visitor experience, conservation efforts, animal welfare, safety, and sustainable tourism practices. Policy Development National Zoo can design and implement educational programs to raise awareness among visitors about conservation, wildlife protection, and the importance of biodiversity. These programs can include guided tours, interactive exhibits, informational signage, and educational workshops. Educational Programs A tourism policy can prioritize conservation efforts by allocating resources for research, habitat restoration, and breeding programs for endangered species. National Zoo can collaborate with local and international conservation organizations to promote sustainable practices and contribute to species preservation. Conservation Initiatives 11.

ECONOMIC IMPACTS POSITIVE IMPACTS Tourism and Visitor Spending National Zoo attracts both domestic and international visitors, which generates revenue for the local economy. Tourists spend money on admission fees, food, souvenirs, transportation, and lodging. This spending boosts the local economy, which includes hotels, restaurants, transportation services, and small businesses. Job generation To operate efficiently, a well-known a Zoo like National Zoo requires a variety of employees. It employs a wide range of professionals, including animal caretakers, veterinarians, educators, administrators, maintenance workers, and hospitality personnel. Generating employment lowers unemployment and improves the living conditions of local residents. Foreign Exchange Earnings National Zoo foreign exchange earnings can come from a variety of sources, including ticket sales. Revenue generated by the sale of admission tickets to both domestic and international visitors. In addition from that, merchandise sales. Profits from the sale of souvenirs, gifts, and other merchandise in the zoo's gift shops. It is important to point out that the specific breakdown of National Zoo foreign exchange earnings requires access to their accounts payable and records, which are confidential. 12.

NEGATIVE IMPACTS Increased operating costs The expenditures of running a zoo negara are important, including animal care, food, veterinary services, infrastructure maintenance, and staff salaries. If operating costs rise due to price increases, higher utility prices, or higher wages, Zoo Negara's financial resources may be unstable. VISITORS REDUCTION Economic downturns, changes in travel patterns, or changes in consumer tastes might all trigger a decrease in zoo visitor numbers. If less people visit the zoo, earnings from ticket sales, offers, and other visitor-related expenses decreases. Competition and market saturation According to the area, other zoos, wildlife parks, or entertainment venues may compete with Zoo Negara. If there are too many similar attractions in the area, market saturation can occur, making tough to attract visitors and decreasing the zoo's revenue. 13.

Zoo Negara provides a platform for educational programs and initiatives. It offers educational tours, animal encounters, and interactive exhibits that help raise awareness about wildlife conservation, biodiversity, and environmental issues. Visitors, particularly children, have the opportunity to learn about different animal species, their habitats, and the importance of protecting them. Zoo Negara serves as a recreational space for families, students, and individuals to enjoy and connect with nature. It offers a peaceful environment for people to spend time outdoors, observe wildlife, and engage in recreational activities. Additionally, the zoo hosts events, workshops, and outreach programs that encourage community participation and engagement. Zoo Negara plays an active role in conservation efforts, especially for endangered species native to Malaysia. It participates in breeding programs, research projects, and collaborations with other conservation organizations. By conserving and breeding endangered species, the zoo contributes to the preservation of biodiversity and helps prevent their extinction. SOCIAL IMPACTS POSITIVE IMPACT EDUCATION AND AWARENESS RECREATION AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT CONSERVATION EFFORTS 14.

Zoos can be expensive to visit, making them less accessible to low-income communities. This creates a social divide, where only certain socioeconomic groups have the opportunity to benefit from the educational aspects of zoos. Lack of accessibility can contribute to social inequality and limit the impact of zoos' educational initiatives. Some people argue that keeping animals in captivity for human entertainment raises ethical concerns. It is important to consider whether it is morally justifiable to confine animals solely for the purpose of human amusement. This perspective questions the underlying philosophy of zoos as a form of entertainment. While Zoo Negara aim to educate visitors about wildlife, there can be a risk of educational misrepresentation. Animals in captivity may display abnormal behaviors due to stress or lack of stimulation, which can create a skewed perception of their natural behaviors and habitats. This can perpetuate misconceptions and misunderstanding about wildlife among the general public. SOCIAL IMPACTS NEGATIVE IMPACT INEQUALITY AND ACCESSIBILITY EDUCATIONAL MISREPRESENTATION ETHICAL CONSIDERATION 15.

Zoo Negara actively supports habitat preservation initiatives. In order to protect and restore natural habitats, including mangroves and rainforests, which are essential for the survival of many species, they work with regional and international organizations. The zoo contributes to biodiversity preservation and the development of wildlife habitats by making initiatives in habitat protection. Zoo Negara plays a vital role in conserving and protecting endangered species. The zoo actively participates in breeding programs and conservation initiatives, such as the Malayan Tiger Conservation Program and the Giant Panda Conservation Program. By providing a safe and controlled environment, Zoo Negara helps prevent the extinction of endangered species and promotes their long-term survival. Zoo Negara is committed to implementing sustainable practices to minimize its ecological footprint. These practices include waste management, energy conservation, water conservation, and the promotion of eco-friendly initiatives. By setting an example, the zoo encourages visitors and the wider community to adopt sustainable practices in their own lives. 16. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS POSITIVE IMPACT CONSERVATION AND SPECIES PRESERVATION HABITAT PRESERVATION SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES

Having a lot of visitors can put more pressure on the ecosystem. Local ecosystems may suffer as a result of increased traffic, waste production, and energy use related to visitor services and recreational facilities. Significant resources, including food, energy, and water, are needed to operate a zoo. The consumption of these resources contributes to the overall environmental footprint of the facility, especially if inefficient practices are in place. in addition, improper management of the trash produced by zoos—including animal waste and other materials—can harm nearby ecosystems. Animals in captivity may experience stress and confinement-related issues. The enclosures in zoos are often smaller than the animals' natural habitats, limiting their freedom of movement and natural behaviors. This can lead to behavioral problems, reduced reproduction rates, and compromised physical and mental health. 17. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS NEGATIVE IMPACT RESOURCE CONSUMPTION VISITOR IMPACT STRESS AND CONFINEMENT

ANALYSIS OF IMPACTS OF ECONOMICS(POSITIVE) TOURISM AND VISITORS SPENDING The opening of the national zoo has given a lot of good return to the country and for foreign tourist who come to visit can also make the same contribution. The situation to some extent can cover all the cost, animal food and so on. Therefore this situation can be seen that the zoo is not only a place to provide experiance to the visitors, but can incarease the natinonal indirectly . JOB OPPORTUNITIES The opening of the national zoo can reduce the unemployment rate in Malaysia. The national zoo which has an area of 110 acres of land with that area of land requires a lot of staff to ensure that smooth operation of it every day. Bacherlor"s degree of work experiance when working with national zoos because thay have a variety of departments that they can venture into. FOREIGN EXCHANGE EARNING Foreign tourist are aware that the value of the currency in Malaysia is relatively low and that situation is one of the main reasons why they cme to travel in Malaysia. Therefore, when they come to the national zoo they think that the entrance ticket to the national zoo is cheap and they think all the facilities and souveniers are sold are also cheap. this makes them not mind spending money to experiance the animals in the zoo. 18.

ANALYSIS OF SOCIAL IMPACTS ( POSITIVE) EDUCATION AND AWARENES As we know, the national zoo will be an attraction for visitors, especially school students and so on. The beauty of nature that is highlighted is able to attract many people to realize and know the importance of caring for and knowing about biodiversity. The National Zoo includes many aspects that are capable of exposure and can be said to be a one-stop center that presents a lot of information in one place and is very good for exposure to students and tourists who come. . RECREATION COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT Recreational community is an effort from Zoo Negara to provide a different experience for visitors to feel the uniqueness. The recreational community that is created can also ensure that there is no gap between humans and nature. The existence of a recreational community also shows that there are many efforts made by the Nagai National Zoo to ensure that visitors can establish relationships with each other. . CONSERVATION EFFORT The conservation efforts carried out clearly show the Zoo Negara's concern for endangered species and animals. Animals that are threatened with extinction will be taken care of as much as possible in order to be able to continue the generation and ensure that life for the animal is not lost. Tourists are also impressed by the efforts made by the National Zoo to ensure the survival of the animals. . 19.

ANALYSIS OF SOCIAL IMPACT (NEGATIVE) INEQUALITY AND ACCESSIBILITY Some of the visitors who come feel that the ticket prices offered are unreasonable. This is so because they feel they come just to see the animals and do not need to be charged expensive fees; however, they do not know that the proceeds from the purchase of tickets can help to pay for all the needs of the animals in the zoo and can provide the best service to the animals. As well as the ability of each visitor who comes being different, they will feel the gap is very high, feel burdened by the ticket price charged, feel it is better to go to the mini zoo, and so on. ETHICAL CONSEDERATION Many animal lovers think that it is inappropriate to treat animals and make them a show. For them, animals should live freely. However, it is up to each of us to decide how we want to interpret something that has become a habit and whether we are ready to accept a different situation. EDUCATIONAL MISPERANTATION People's responses to wild animals are different; some think that wild animals cannot be tamed, are not suitable to be used as examples for learning, and should not be revealed to students as a source of education. However, this perception must be changed, and parents must play a role so that children know that not all animals are violent, and a loving nature can be nurtured through love and affection for animals. 20.

ANALYSIS OF IMPACTS OF ENVIROMENTAL (POSITIVE ) HABITAT PRESEVATION Through the efforts made by the national zoo in ensuring that every animal and plant found in the national zoo is preserved. Ensuring that all living things and plants are in good condition is a responsibility, as is ensuring that existing life and its generations will continue and will not stop. CONSERVATION AND SPECIES PRESERVATION The programme carried out by the national zoo to ensure the continuity of life in the zoo should be emulated and always prioritise the conditions and comfort of the zoo's residents. The programme also received a lot of attention from the government. The situation clearly shows that the government is also always with the national zoo, is ready to help financially, and so on. SUISTANABLE PRACTICE All the appropriate practises that are practised in the national zoo are also highly encouraged, and they have been implemented since the first day of the opening of the national zoo. This situation shows that the national zoo also places a lot of emphasis on the environment and does not breed about the nature that is closely related to the animals in the zoo. This awareness must be maintained in order to maintain its vitality. 21.

ANALYSIS IMPACTS OF ENVIROMENTAL(NEGATIVE) VISITORS IMPACT As we know, too many visitors can also disturb the emotions of animals. This is because not many visitors know about animal emotions and will behave impolitely. For example, yelling at animals, throwing food, and trying to touch animals that shouldn't be touched Actions like this are not impossible because the situation is crowded and unable to be monitored by zookeepers on duty. RESOURCE CONSUMPTION The food resources needed by each animal in the national zoo are very high. For example, pandas need to be meticulous in their care in terms of health and food. Pandas need processed food, and it is not recommended to eat raw food; therefore, it requires an expert in mixing food for pandas. In addition to food, health care also requires a specialised clinic and cannot be mixed with other animals. This situation states that pandas have also consumed a high amount of food. . STRESS AND CONFINEMENT Sometimes, if you look at the size of the cage and the number of animals in one cage, they do not meet the standards and make the animals in the cage stressed and uncomfortable. It is hoped that the zoo can provide a comfortable place and be able to make the place a home for the animals without opening a cage that makes them traumatised and afraid to live there. 22.

ANALYSIS OF IMPACTS OF ECONOMICS(NEGATIVE) INCREASED OPERATING COST The ticket price offered to local customers is quite expensive. This is because all animal needs and facilities in the national zoo nee to be improved and food imported from selected countries is also very expensive. The increase in ticket prices is also related to the lack of funds from the parties involved, therefore only by raising ticket prices can cover all cost for animals and so on to ensure that the animals are in a healthy and awake state. COMPETITION AND MARKET SATURATION Today's generation many make their hobby as a source of income. On of the business that can start from a hobby is keeping exotic animals for their own satisfactions, with the existence of the mini zoo visitors will more interested and will make national zoo as a second option. VISITORS REDUCTION Management at the national zoo should be sensitive to the number of visitors zoo if the number of visitors decrease they should find a way, and reasons to ensure that the decline is not significant and does not affect the operation of the national of the national zoo. Indentifying consumers tastes is also one of the ways that can be carried out to meet consumers tastes. 23.

The national zoo has received a sponsorship of RM1.1 million from the Malaysian Palm Oil Green Conservation Foundation (MPOGCF) to upgrade the facility. Because of this, the zoo plans to improve all existing facilities, including the orangutan facility, in parallel with the programme to be launched, "Living Together In Harmony". The programme is a national zoo effort for visitors to be friendly with orangutans in a better and more comfortable way. Through its Corporate Responsibility (CSR) initiatives at Zoo Negara, UEM Edgenta Berhad demonstrates its unwavering commitment to a sustainable future for all. UEM Edgenta's visionary programme "Saving Animals, Serving Community" has taken a significant step towards animal welfare by sponsoring a pair of more than 100- year-old Aldabra Giant Tortoises, affectionately named Do and Re, as well as renewing the adoption of a 5-yearold giraffe, Mas Kira. This extension of support reflects the Company's commitment to conservation efforts and wildlife preservation. The involvement of the outside community in the national zoo will encourage outsiders to get to know and understand the lives of animals and, at the same time, learn to cultivate an attitude of love within themselves. Those who are interested in being with the national zoo in caring for and preserving the zoo will be given full instruction on the care and handling of animals in the zoo. If it is seen that many are interested, however, and there are no opportunities open for those who are interested, they will feel that this is a depth for them to understand and learn something new. This plan is seen as one that will succeed because the current generation's interest in animals is increasing and deepening. FUTURE PLANNING 24. 1.ORANG UTAN SHOWCASE UPGRADED 2. PRESERVE WILDLIFE 3.ENCOURAGING OUTSIDE COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

CONCLUSION As visitors to a place we must apply pure values in ourselves. Always practice an attitude of care and protection regardless of living things or not. It is important for us to understand sustainability and understand all the rules and comply with everything that has been set. The national zoo is a focal point for local and foreign tourists. Therefore, taking care of everything that has been worked on as well as supporting every plan that is done will ensure that everything that is planned will come true. Wild animals and plants need each other, as the presence of these two animals completes a life cycle and the prosperity that is created will continue to last for a long period of time. 25. The beauty of nature must be preserved so that it does not fade. It is important for every visitor to understand the dos and don'ts. The situation is made to ensure that everything that is being worked on is in good condition and ready to put the name of tourism places in Malaysia in line with the places that stand majestically abroad.
