HIGH QUALITY RENDERINGS: FLY-THROUGH
To visualize what the new spaces will look like.
SPS+ will create some digital renderings of the Scan this QR code to experience
spaces that show the functionality of the space as The Odyssey Institute Fly-Through, or visit:
well as the overall design.

FLY-THROUGH:
USE CAMERA PHONE SCAN CODE
A great way to promote a new project that can
be shared through multiple digital channels. Gives
the individual a ‘birds-eye’ view of the space which
can be shared through social media, website, and
even used in public video spaces like libraries or
community lobbies.
VIRTUAL REALITY:
A newer trend for promoting projects has been the
use of Virtual Reality. This technology can put any
viewer in virtual pivoting point of the space. Most
phones can use a QR code and scan the virtual.
NORTHERN ARIZONA UNIVERSITY SKYDOME
The ensphere concept began as a recreational field house and ice rink for Northern Arizo-
na University. Future NAU needs and site parameters were investigated. As architects we
suggested that a multi-use building with wood laminate would be economically correct.
A collaboration with the geotechnical engineers, wood suppliers, and structural engineers
lead to the ensphere concept, which brought the roof to ground level. This resulted in a
tremendous cost savings.
The later development of the Ensphere Connector by our firm, which has been duly
patented, has enabled us to design long-span laminated beam structures far beyond any
other connector capacity.

all-weather urethane track surface, as well the replacement of the existing grass football
field with state of the at synthetic. Installation of a high jump, long jump, pole vault and
steeplechasse, as well as a field drainage system where also included.
Natatorium: The new 15,000 square foot natatorium building includes a six lane, 25-meter,
competition swimming pool with attached wading pool. Also within the facility is a 550
square foot classroom and men’s and women’s locker rooms separated by a central lobby
and controls/administration area. Full services including concept, preliminary, design
development, construction documents, construction observation and post-construction
warranty review in conjunction with CM@R.
Student Activity Center Addition: The $4.4 million 21,800 square feet addition to the stu-
dent athletic center was designed to accommodate the high school varsity sports pro-
grams for both boys and girls. The addition provides for a weight lifting facility, boys and
girls locker room/shower configurations, training room with hydro and electro therapy
areas, coaches meeting room, officials shower facilities and administrative space for the
athletic director’s offices.
The addition also includes 4 traditional classroom spaces under the same roof adjacent
to the sports programs. Construction consists of exterior masonry walls, steel roof with
metal roof deck and a Derbigum roofing membrane.
ROUND VALLEY DOME
SPS+ Architects won an open national design competition from the city of Tacoma,
Washington. The competition was for a 25,000 fully enclosed multi-use sports arena
which could be used fully year round. Having patented an eight way connection
hub and long-span beam connectors for construction, SPS+ maximized the utility
of a domed space. Taking advantage of the ensphere’s flexibility, the Tacoma dome
hosts sporting events, motor cross, rock concerts, and minor league football.
