HISTORY

SPS+ Architects were founded in 1960 by Wendell Rossman, a forward-thinking
architect who established our firm’s precedent for innovation through design.

Rossman’s experimental concrete forms are found throughout such local landmarks as
St. Maria Goretti Church in Scottsdale and Manzanita Hall at Arizona State University.
Our firm has since designed the largest wood-frame structures in the world including
the Skydome at Northern Arizona University and the internationally renowned,
Turntable Divisible Auditorium utilized by the Chandler Center for the Arts. Today,
SPS+ Architects are recognized as early proponents of the 21st-Century Learning
Environment featured at Compadre Academy and West-MEC.

While our innovative design solutions have been embraced nationally, our primary
focus remains our relationships within the Arizona education community, which has
often evolved into multiple projects and long-term relationships with clients spanning
decades. As we celebrate our firms 60th year anniversary, we recognize our long-term
success is a reflection of our continued emphasis on providing exceptional customer
service and delivering quality products that exceed client expectation.

3D SCANNER TECHNOLOGY

SPS+ Architects is fully Building Information Modeling (BIM) capable, uniquely offering this service at
no additional charge. Our Building Information Models are created using REVIT software benefitting
our clients in multiple ways. Experiencing project designs before construction even begins, clients have
the ability to make changes ahead of time, ultimately reducing the risk of costly changes. 3D Scanner
technology ensures accuracy to the centimeter while creating As-Built drawings, saving schools both
time and money. REVIT modeling has the power to allow our client’s vision to be realized from beginning
to end.

VIRTUAL REALITY

We recently committed to utilizing a Virtual Reality simulator with BIM technology to enhance our
school renderings. This allows clients to fully immerse themselves and experience the design firsthand
by moving virtually throughout the proposed project space. These renderings are readily accessible
with a smart phone by scanning the QR codes provided.

BILTMORE ACADEMY

SPS+ Architects is currently collaborating with Creighton Elementary School District to
provide a new gymnasium and a renovation of their current multipurpose space. The
design of the gymnasium includes a platform which eliminates the need for the Biltmore
students to go off campus for their performances. One of the major renovations to the
school is a much needed parking renovation that creates a more efficient parent drop off
and pick-up that pulls cars off of neighboring streets and reduces congestion throughout
the neighborhood. SPS+ executed a campus master plan to ensure that the construction
would be utilized effectively now and into the future of the school.

CASA GRANDE REPLACEMENT SCHOOL

The campus plan began with consideration for the two existing schools – each deep
with rich tradition (legacy). The new campus layout is orchestrated to appeal to the
community, therefore it presents itself in memorable approach. The design references not
only each school’s uniqueness but will ‘speak quietly’ to its historical significance.

The campus illustration provides a framework for addressing key areas. Our intent has
been to build upon the District’s mission – to not only provide long lasting, efficient
spaces but to anchor the new schools properly.

CREIGHTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

SPS+ re-imagined the identity of this middle school through a new design centered
on color, massing and outdoor learning environments. A new amphitheater, covered
and open-air dining and integrated play areas have become fixtures of student life
along with interior hangout spaces that incorporate natural light and comfortable,
moveable furnishings. A new, two-story classroom building and kindergarten expansion
complement the existing architecture.
