How We’re Involved A large way Baroda Group is involved in our clients' lives is through Medicare. We offer extra benefits for general Medicare health plans, Medicare Advantage plans, Medigap Medicare Supplemental insurance, and Medicare Part D insurance plans. One of the ways we’ve made impacts in the community around our agents is by hosting “Medicare 101” educational seminars. With these events, we’ve been able to inform hundreds of people about the basics of Medicare and help them in preparation for what can be a confusing and difficult process for most individuals.
Part A Hospital Insurance Part B Medical Insurance Part C Medicare Advantage Medicare Overview Medicare is a federal health insurance program for people who are 65 years of age or older and certain people with disabilities or diseases. Medicare consists of four parts, as shown on the right. Individuals can enroll in Medicare during the Initial Enrollment Period (IEP), which is a seven-month period that begins three months before their 65th birthday and ends three months after the birth month. Individuals can also enroll during the General Enrollment Period (GEP), which runs from January 15 to March 31st each year. Scope of Appointment (SOA) When meeting with a client, the first thing that needs to be completed is a Scope of Appointment (SOA). A scope of appointment is a document that is used to document an in-person appointment with a Medicare beneficiary to ensure that no other types of products are discussed outside of what the beneficiary originally requested. The form must be signed by both the beneficiary and the agent. A scope of appointment is required in any personal or individual faceto-face marketing appointment where Medicare products are to be discussed with Medicare beneficiaries. SOA’s protect the beneficiary from being solicited for a product that they did not originally express an interest in, help to ensure that the agent is providing the beneficiary with accurate and up-to-date information about the products that they are interested in, and it also helps to prevent the agent from violating any Medicare marketing regulations.
