By Mrs Cÿrus and Neha Singh Despite the day being long, the girls cheered whole-heartedly
to support their peers on the track.
Girls' High's annual Inter-House Athle cs Day was held at the
L C de Villiers Stadium for the very first me on 21 January. Towards the la er part of the event, Matrics ran a 200m race,
This enabled us to compete in all the many field events. The accompanied by Mrs Erasmus. A er the relays when points
stands were filled with an abundance of energy, enthusiasm had been calculated, Van Zyl was announced the winners (by
and spirt. far) of the athle cs mee ng and Athlone were the very
worthy winners of the Spirit Cup.
The girls were entertained throughout the day. In the
morning, while the long -distance races were being run, the
ladies enjoyed dance rou nes from the cheerleaders of each
house. When energy levels started to flag, the DJ played a few
popular songs to cheer everyone up.
Everybody was quite delighted, at lunch me, to have such a
variety to choose from. The pizza stall and the chip and
lemonade stalls were very well supported and there was
enough to ckle all tastebuds.
