Did you know that 70% for Maths Lit is be er than 40% for pure Maths?

Ge ng accepted into university in your chosen field is highly compe ve. Learners with the highest APS scores are selected
depending on the space available in any specific course. Of course, your subjects also count, but without a high enough APS score in
your chosen subjects, you may not meet the criteria for admission in your chosen field.

What is an APS Score? How do I calculate my APS Score?
Here is an example:
An APS (Admission Point Score) is a
method used by universi es to decide Marks are allocated as follows: · English First Language 68% = 5 points
whether students can get admission 80 – 100% 7 APS points · isiZulu Home Language 79% = 6 points
or not. Students are required to have 70 – 79% 6 APS points · Life Orienta on 59% = (Do not include
a specific APS Score in order to study 60 – 69% 5 APS points L.O in APS calcula ons)
at the university. Each university has a 50 – 59% 4 APS points · Mathema cal Literacy 65% = 5 points
40 – 49% 3 APS points · Physical Sciences 67% = 5 points
unique APS Score. Each course at the
university also has a unique APS 30 – 39% 2 APS points · Life Sciences 81% = 7 points (Dis nc on)
Score. 0 – 29% 1 APS points · Geography 76% = 6 points
5 + 6 + 5 + 5+ 7 + 6 = 34 APS Score

What APS Score do I need to follow the career of my dreams?

Each University has informa on available on their website, which will tell you what subjects are required, and the minimum APS
score needed to get accepted in that chosen field.
For example, if you want to study Chemical Engineering, you will need an overall APS score of 35, including a 5 (60-69%) for English
and a 6 (70 – 79%) for both pure Maths and Physical Science.
If all that chemical stuff is not for you, you have so many other op ons to consider. Perhaps you like people more than labs? Poli cal
Sciences is an example of a course of study for which you can take Maths Lit. For admission to this course, you would need a Matric
APS score of 28 (30 when you apply with your Grade 11 marks) and a minimum of 5 (60-69%) for English.

Be sure to visit university websites to find out more about the requirements for your chosen field. Here is a link to TUKS:

On 14 January 2023, Pretoria High School for Girls hosted their first inter-

Students, parents, and friends came together to support those

stands cheered on all the athletes from the different houses.

We began with an opening cheer from each of the houses to start off our
day and to get the athletes pumped up for the day's events. Throughout
the whole day cheerleaders helped keep spirits up in the crowd and keep
the athletes on the field mo vated. As we went on with our different
events it felt as though eagerness and enthusiasm filled the air as the
learners competed against each other to get points for their houses which
go toward winning the Clephan Shield. The announcer and accompanying
music made for great entertainment for everyone present.
Once the tournament was almost over, tension started building up as
people started gathering in an cipa on for the results to be announced
for the winner of the Spirit Cup and Athle cs Award. Inter-house ended off
with the winners being Athlone (Spirit Cup) and Buxton (Athle cs) there
was a vast sense of accomplishment from everyone in the stands- stay
