less than four teams, two of which comprised
of beginners who had never played in a
tournament before. They are to be commended
for their commitment and for the way they
played their hearts out. The First Team was
placed first in this league.
During the Eunice Derby Day, ten of our girls
played against the Eunice Team and had a very
exciting victory against our long-time rivals. The
All Girls’ Schools’ Festival, hosted by Parktown
Girls High, was a fun-filled tournament and
the team learned a lot about perseverance. We
made a lot of new friends and received the
award for the team with the best spirit. Our
yearly doubles day with our brothers across the
railway line once again proved to be lots of fun
when they joined us one Tuesday.
Despite not having a coach this year, all the girls
gave their best and learned a lot. A big thanks go
to our liaison teachers, Mrs Holzhauser and Ms

and Thursday and to Mrs van Tonder for
taking over the Chess Club despite her already

certificates we need to pass all four categories. After all the
dedication and commitment from the team I am so proud to have
been a part ofl this. I would like to thank Jenna-Lee Price for
being a dedicated Vice Captain and Mrs de Sousa for always being
not more than two steps away when required and Marianne and
Clinton for being supportive coaches. I am pleased to say that
PHSG is now recognised at Sun City for having a good reputation
as committed lifeguards. Some of us have been working there
during the school holidays and it has been a great experience.
Best of luck in acquiring your certificates ladies and thank you
for all your commitment and support.
