10STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS & ACTIVITIES

In 2019-2020, the students continued to enjoy the high levels of success across the four cornerstones,
academic, event participation in both technical and non-technical, professional development
activities such as workshops, seminar and guest lecture and innovative projects.
The 1360 students participated in various events in and outside of the institutions.
10.1 STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN VARIOUS EVENTS

The Students from the 2nd year,3rd year and 4th Paper
year are actively participated in outside Presentation
college/institution events and competitions
Students are rewarded with the prizes and Technical Events
certificates. The Head of the department
periodically encourage and motivate the Conferences
students to participate in the other colleges
technical and non-technical events in this
year. In this academic year ,1016 students are
actively participated in the internal events
such as Workshops, Seminars, Guest
Lecture, Coding Competitions, Project expo
and Hackathons organized by the
faculty members. Participation in them
encourages teamwork and collaboration, not
to mention learning how to work together on
a larger scale. Involvement in these events
allows students to create collaborative work
experiences, such as planning events,
creating learning material or performing
community service & team works.

One day Intradepartmental
Techfest is a major event
conducted on 26th February 2020,
with 1360 participants. Totally 26
events were conducted both
technical and non-technical
events. The event is inaugurated
by Resource person Prof. Sridhar,
University of Michigan, United
States, Vice Chancellor Dr. V.S.S.
Kumar and Head of the
department. Event was organised
by Mrs.G.Tamilmani, Assistant
Professor and Mr.Durai, Assistant
Professor.

Codigo’ 20 The online coding contest was conducted on Annual Report 2019-2020
2nd May 2020 over 170 participants with two
’ 20 different rounds organized by Mrs. R. 51
Bhuvanya, Assistant Professor through online.
’ 20 The winners of the codigo’20 competition is
awarded with e-certificate. Plagiarism checker
is enables in the platform.

Prakalpaz’20 is project expo to showcase
students’ innovation project initiated and
proudly organized this contest with the
support of Computer Society of India. The

online mode among 83 participants, the
winners are rewarded with E-certificate. Event
is organized by Mrs.Shyamala Kumar,
Mr.Kishore Kumar, Mr.Ashok Kumar.

Hackathon’20 , a 24 hours online event
conducted on 17th May 2020, with 43 teams
of 68 students. Students choose their
problem statement and presented to the jury
members in GitHub platform. The teams
produced solution for real world cause of
Covid 19. The event was organized by
Mrs.Arivubrakan, Assistant Professor. The
Winners are awarded with E-certificate.

10.2 STUDENT INNOVATIVE PROJECTS
Students implement their innovative ideas with the guidance of faculty and demonstrates the
project model in challenging events. Students choose the supervisor on their own willing and based
on specialization of the faculty. Students are progressively taking up projects to pad up their skill-
set and can gain practical knowledge. students showing an interest in making mini projects as they
realize the value of practical training.

data visualization of spread rate of Covid.

10.4 PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION COURSES OFFERED BY DEPARTMENT

In this academic year, the Department offered the certification courses for the students by
the trained faculty members from the Cisco academy, Infytq, Wipro talent next and Ui Path. The classes
are conducted for the students as a non-credit for 2 hours after the working hours. Students completed
817 certifications in various professional organizations. Certification gives recognition of competency,
shows commitment to the profession, and helps with job advancement. There has been an explosive
growth in professional certification. UI Path academic alliance has signed an MoU with our institutions
in this year.

10.5 STUDENT CLUB ACTIVITIES

The Department having 25 Clubs of 2113 students participated in Technical (10 clubs) and Non-
Technical (15 clubs). Each club is allocated with the faculty coordinators. Students can develop
their social and interpersonal skills by getting involved in these club activities.

11CLASS ROOM INFRASTRUCTURE

In Computer Science & Engineering, all classrooms are minimally equipped with writing board
(both chalkboard and whiteboard) and internet access facility through Wi-Fi/LAN ports to support the
faculty during their lectures and demonstrations. Some of the classrooms are smart rooms, which has
facilities like Round, Oval, Square and Pentagon shaped tables to conduct active learning classes and other
discussions. Facilities available includes HOD Room, Meeting Room, HOD office Reception Room, Office
Room, Seminar Hall, Department Exam Cell, Department Placement Cell, Academic Planning Cell,
Industry and Higher Education Cell, Department Library, Project Work Space, Learning Space, Lecture
Rooms, Active Learning Space, Tutorial Rooms, Faculty Cabins, Counseling Room.

ACTIVE LEARNING CLASS ROOMS

Active learning refers to teaching practices that give students opportunities to work with concepts
over and over, in a variety of ways and with opportunities for immediate feedback, so that
knowledge can take hold in their own minds.
