ONE MORE MINUTE
If I only had one minute
the day you passed away,
I would have had time to tell you
all the things I needed to say.
I never got to tell you
how much you mean to me-
or that you were the best dad,
better than any man could be.
The last time I talked to you,
I wish I would have known-
I would have said I love you
and kept you on the phone.
Pop if I only had one more minute the morning you passed away-
I'd call you just to see what you were going to be doing later on that day.
I'd tell you that I don't think I could live without you,
not even for a while-
And how I’d miss hearing you answer the phone, hearing you laugh and seeing that
infectious smile.
I'd pray with you, dap you up and tell you it's okay to go-
and tell you that I'll miss you
more than you'll ever know.
But you were gone so quickly.
Your last breath you proceeded to take-
And before you even knew it,
you were standing at heaven's gate.
Now God has called upon you.
& It's time to get your wings-
To leave this life behind you,
And enjoy all of heavenly things.
So wait for me in heaven, Pop.
With Big Daddy, Grandaddy Walter & the rest of our family on high-
For this is me saying I’ll see you later and not me saying goodbye.
So for now we will mourn and pray. that our pain God will rid
But most of all we won’t be selfish, for we understand God needed you more than we did.

Carlton Hayes
Carlton Hayes, affectionately known as “Shawty Hayes” and “Pop” was born
on October 12, 1953 to Mr. Walter F. Hayes and Mabel Hayes. Mr. Hayes was a
1971 graduated of Fredrick Douglas High School in Atlanta, Georgia. He also
attended Morris Brown College.
Mr. Hayes found Christ at an early age. Known as a fun, loving, caring and

hard worker at the United States Postal Office over 30 years, he excelled at his job
and also at his ability to make others around him better!
Mr. Carlton Hayes was a man’s man, great husband and an even better
father! His infectious laugh and character made him a joy to be near and around.
He enjoyed cooking, grilling out, gardening, listening to jazz music and he also was
an extremely sharp dresser! Not only will he be remembered, but he will truly be
missed!
Mr. Hayes was preceded in death by one brother, Walter “Shane” Hayes, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Beverly Hayes; two daughters, Mrs. Tameka
(Collier) Starks, and Ms. Rinada Hayes; one son, Mr. Kortney Hayes; mother, Mabel
Hayes; two sisters, Mrs. Gail (Gregory) Drake, and Ms. Vickie (Ronnie) Kimble;
seven grandchildren; three aunts, one uncle; and a host of nieces, nephews, other
loving relatives, and close friends.
Psalm 23 (KJV)
The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul:
he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley
of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me
in the presence of mine enemies:
thou anointest my head with oil;
my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
for ever.
