Guy Henry Stinchcomb
On Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1943, a Star was born. Guy Henry Stinchcomb was a blessing
from heaven. The one day of the year dedicated to celebrate love was so befitting of his personality. It is
symbolic that he was born on a Day that is traditionally associated with red hearts, romance, flowers, and
other sweet things because he was always sharing the best parts of his heart with those he knew and loved.
Red was his favorite color and love was his favorite verb. It gave him joy to see others happy.
Guy was the eldest of nine children born to the late Henry B and L. Marie Stinchcomb. He joined
Flat Rock AME Church in Fayetteville, GA at an early age and was raised with a strong faith in God. He
attended South Fulton High School and joined the Air Force in 1962. After he completed exemplary service
to his country, he returned home and married his high school sweetheart, Erma (Hill) Stinchcomb. In 1971,
he began a career at Eastern Airlines, where he worked for over 20 years as a stellar employee.
Guy was affectionately known as Guy Henry, GH, Stinch, and the Godfather. He loved to travel,
ride motorcycles, meet people, cook, and laugh! He was an avid reader, often reading 2 or 3 books in a
week! Most of his friends and family knew that he was a cowboy who loved his western movies, cowboy
hats and exotic leather cowboy boots. Guy always put his best foot forward. He always dressed to impress,
looking as if he was straight out of GQ Magazine. He was a wellversed man, a car connoisseur, and he
loved to celebrate life. Guy was a true example of what living life to the fullest means! He was known to
feed the hungry, provide shelter to the homeless and give money to those in need. Guy was also a protector
of many and fought for the ones he loved. He made a positive impact on the world around him and we
are so thankful that we had the pleasure to share the universe at the same space and time in which he
existed.
On Thursday, April 16th, 2020, at the age of 77, Guy Stinchcomb was called home to be with the
Lord after a long, fulfilling life. He was a cancer survivor and although his health was fragile, his fight was
strong and his will was relentless. His death was sudden and unexpected. He will be missed by countless
people who had the pleasure of knowing him. Although he is gone from this Earth, the profound impact
he had on all of our lives will resonant forever.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers, Charlie, Larry, Alfred, and Clay. Guy
leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Erma Stinchcomb; four loving daughters, Rhoda McKissick, Aurora
Callaway (Major), Valerie Polain (Markell), and Gieava Stinchcomb; grandchildren, Keia Goodman

God’s Grace
God saw him getting tired
And a cure was not to be.
So he put His arms around him
and whispered, “Come To Me.”
With tearful eyes
We watched him suffer, and
Saw him slowly fade away.
Although we loved him dearly,
we could not make him stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands of the best.
Our hearts completely broken,
God called him home to rest.

Acknowledgement
People need people. Friends need friends. And we all need love. For a full life depends
not on vast riches or great acclaim, not on success or on worldly fame, but just in knowing
that someone cares and holds us close in their thoughts and prayers. May God continue to
richly bless you all.
