Over the years, this area has become their permanent home, and agriculture became their main source of living. Through this road, public safety was secured and the people were able to transport and sell their products in the market at the right time and with the proper product value. Before this road was paved, the Aeta were able to experience the struggle because of the previously poor condition of the road. During rainy days, people can barely access the road, it becomes muddy and prone to accidents. J U L Y 2 0 2 2 ROAD TO UPLIFT LIVELIHOOD OF AETA COMMUNITY 102 BANYUHAY

106 BANYUHAY

THE NEWLY CONCRETED ACCESS ROAD PROVIDES CONVENIENCE TO AN IMPOVERISHED VILLAGE OCTOBER 2022 LOCAL ROAD UPGRADING AT SITIO TIBAG, NAUGSOL, SUBIC,ZAMBALES Sitio Tibag is a remote area that is rich in agricultural land and natural resources which makes the main source of living for the residents are crops, forestry, and livestock. However, due to the inadequate transportation system, the village does not seem to have made any progress for a long time. The poor road system caused problems in transporting farm produce, limited job opportunities, and low school enrolment which made a huge impact on economic and social development and contributed to poverty. Based on the stories of the residents of Sitio Tibag, they suffered from numerous landslides brought by natural disasters and during those catastrophes, they were trapped which caused starvation and inability to access any resources outside the village. Many people wanted to reach out for help but they weren’t able to pass through the dangerous road. The boiled cassava and corn served as the villager’s aid to suppress hunger. Because of this successful road project, Sitio Tibag welcomed more development and opportunities. They started to have electricity which helped their businesses grow, the kids are excited to go to school, people were able to find jobs outside the village and the transportation of their farm produce is not a problem anymore. This innovation indeed guarantees better economic conditions, social advancement, and safer and faster access. Education equips us with the skills needed for success in today's world. One of the prides of Sitio Tibag is the first to graduate from college in their area and is now a wellrespected teacher. The difficult path to a promising future was not a hindrance. With a smile on his face, a grade 12 student from Sitio Tibag was grateful for the newly concreted road. 110 BANYUHAY

THE ROAD THAT TRANSFORMED SAN ESTEBAN NOVEMBER 2022 LOCAL ROAD UPGRADING OF TUBO -TUBO ROAD PHASE III The Municipal Government of San Antonio was a beneficiary of Php 11,623,000.00 national allocation under FY 2020 Assistance to Municipalities (AM) Program of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for the implementation of “Local Road Upgrading of Tubo-Tubo Road Phase III” project in Barangay San Esteban, San Antonio, Zambales. This 724.4 meter-length road project helped towards the economic stimulation and societal development of San Esteban, an isolated barangay of the municipality of San Antonio. It opened more trading opportunities, expanded livestock and poultry production, made faster transportation of farm produce, and provided access to establishments, resulting in decreased travel time. This clearly helped the local farmers, business sectors, and residents. Before this development, poor road conditions had been a headache for the local citizens for a long time. The farmers were experiencing delays in animal feed import, which hindered the shipment of their agricultural products to the public market. It was also a daily nuisance for the commuters making transportation difficult and dangerous, especially during rainy days. Through the active collaboration of the national government and local government units, this undoubtedly beneficial road infrastructure project was made possible, according to one of the local functionaries of San Antonio, Engr. Fresnel M. Concepcion, the residents are beyond grateful to the DILG because the upgrading of Tubo-Tubo Road Phase I, Phase II, and Phase III have all been funded under its programs, from Assistance to Disadvantaged Municipalities (ADM) program in the year 2017 to Assistance to Municipalities (AM) program in the year 2019-2020. 114 BANYUHAY
