Dates for HOLY WEEK AND EASTER SERVICES

Lent began on 1 March this year. Up to and including the Fifth Sunday of Lent on 9 April our
WHITLEY ROSE QUEEN Sunday services in the parish will follow our normal pattern. There will be special services

Friday 31st March 6.30 - 8.30pm This year the service pattern for Holy Week and Easter Sunday will be different to earlier years.
Holy Week and Easter is a very busy time for the Vicar and this is especially the case if all

services but one of them has-been moved to the Saturday evening as part of the Vigil service.

Holy Week and Easter is a very special and important time for us and I would like to invite you

Thursday 13th April
10.10 - 10.40am, Whitley Village Hall Palm Sunday is on 9 April. On that morning there will be a Communion service at Little Leigh

services will include the Procession of the Palms and the reading of Matthew’s version of the

MOTHER UNION On Maundy Thursday 13 April, we celebrate the Last Supper and the Institution of the
12th April - 2pm Eucharist. The service on that day will be at Lower Whitley. We will start with a simple buffet
meal at 19:00 to remember that Jesus celebrated the Passover meal with his disciples before
Whitley Village Hall we move on the the Communion service at 19:30. That service ends with the stripping of the

service there will be a short vigil of 30 minutes for those who would like to stay and watch in

Leigh is suitable for all ages and the afternoon service at 14:00 at Aston is a quieter, more

Monday 10th April The Vigil service on Easter Eve, 15 April, starts at 19:30 at Little Leigh. This is the service

lunch and entertainment. Leave Village churches will be lit from the new fire. We hear of God’s saving works through the ages and we

On Easter Sunday morning, 16 April, there will be a Communion service at 09:30 at Lower
