About the Knights Annual Fund

Like many independent schools, St. Thomas More Collegiate (STMC) seeks financial support from individuals, foundations and
external organizations to enable us to deliver outstanding programs and address the current needs of our school that are not
covered by tuition and government grants.
The Knights Annual Fund giving campaign was established to fill the funding gap and support the goals of STMC’s Strategic Plan.
The Fund provides an opportunity for our current parents, staff and board members to contribute, through charitable gifts, to
our school’s efforts in enhancing the everyday learning experience and environment for our Knights and to prepare them well
for life after STMC. As a Blessed Edmund Rice Christian Brother school, we are not part of the Catholic Independent Schools
of Vancouver (CISVA). We do not receive funding from the Archdiocese of Vancouver, from any parishes or from the Christian
Brothers.
Funds raised from the inaugural 2017/18 Knights Annual Fund appeal allowed us to introduce a new and exciting Robotics
program. In this year’s appeal, gifts to the Knights Annual Fund will fund new initiatives such as the development of model
classrooms and enhancements to new and existing curricular programs.
To learn how your gift to the Knights Annual Fund will make a difference at STMC and the variety of convenient ways to give, we
invite you to read this booklet. Tax receipts are issued for gifts in accordance with CRA regulations. The appeal continues from
October 2018 until June 2019. To receive a tax receipt for this year, please make your gift before December 31, 2018. Thank you
for your time and your support.

Knights Annual Fund Priority Areas of Support

Your gift to the Knights Annual Fund will assist us in our ongoing effort to strengthen St. Thomas More Collegiate’s curricular
program and prepare our Knights for the future through the following:
Development of Model Classrooms

With a new curriculum and a new way of teaching and learning in British Columbia schools, the development of model
classrooms would allow for flexibility in the use of existing classroom spaces throughout the school. Different solutions -
particularly the incorporation of more flexible classroom furniture - would be applied to different types of classrooms at
STMC.
Curricular Program Enrichment
Language Lab: With the implementation of the 1:1 Chromebooks, a specialized software would be acquired to assist
students in practicing their verbal skills and provide a new tool for teachers to assess students.
Exercise and Health Science Program: Incorporating a variety of diagnostic tools and equipment to support those
students in our Life Sciences, Anatomy & Physiology, Sports Therapy, and Fitness courses (e.g. V-Max Testing Equipment
and Heart Monitors).
Robotics Lab (Phase 2): Incorporating 3-D Printer Technology to allow students to modify and/or fabricate additional parts
and components for their VEX Robots.
