Hello Billerica Residents and Recreation Enthusiasts-

Sadly our days are getting shorter and a chill is starting to fill the air. Before Table of Contents

we say goodbye to summer, I did want to give a sincere thank you to all of Recreation Information 2
our residents that took part in our programs. This summer saw many firsts

for our department including our wildly popular first annual Summer Kickoff Preschool Programs 3-5

event, to the addition of our full-day Neighborhood Parks offering. We are

proud and excited to continue evolving the services we are offering. From Youth Programs 6-7

Superstars, to our Neighborhood Parks, our variety of weekly camps, and

everything in between – we hope you had a fun and memorable summer with Youth Drama

Youth Sports

Throughout this guide, you will find a variety of services intended to appeal to

a wide range of interests, ages, and abilities. We are confident you will find Adaptive Programs 12

Snow Sports

New this fall will be the evolution of our Halloween event, previously known

as the “Haunting of Manning Park”. This year, we are thinking even spookier! Adult Sports 14-16

With access to the vacant Vining Elementary School, we will be transforming

the facility into a can’t miss Haunted House attraction. Our first annual Paint Night & More

“Spookfest” will feature a haunted walk through the school, pumpkin Adult Fitness 18-21
decorating, games, a showing of “It’s A Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown”, as

well as a Trunk-or-Treat event! For those unfamiliar with trunk-or-treat, any Special Events 22

families interested will have the opportunity to decorate their car/trunks for

Halloween and pass out candy to all of our registered trick-or-treaters that Fall Movie Nights 23

attend the event. (Please note pre-registration is required for any participant

interested in passing out candy/entering their decorated vehicle into our At The Theater 24

Trunk-or-Treat). 25

Trips & Getaways

In addition to Halloween, we also have your holiday season covered with two

great special events. The first is our Breakfast with Santa that will once again Registration Form 26

return to the Courtyard By Marriott for the second year in a row. We will also

be introducing a “Candy Cane Carnival” prior to the holidays! This new special event will feature all kinds of fun and games,

including a visit from Santa himself! Check out our Special Events page for more information!

Besides these great events, we also continue adding to our program offerings. In addition to all of your returning favorites, we
are also introducing a fun Ceramic Tree Making night that will allow participants to create and paint their own ceramic
Christmas tree! We have also added several new fitness opportunities to help our residents stay healthy this season!

We hope that you had a great summer, and we look forward to seeing you at one of our programs or parks soon! If you ever

Friends of Billerica Recreation

Would you like to play a role in the continued success of our Recreation Department? We are currently seeking

individuals interested in joining our “Friends of Billerica Recreation” committee. This committee is an integral part

in ensuring our ability to grow our special events, and seek alternative funding sources to keep such events at a

minimum cost. Additionally, funds raised by the Friends are used to directly fund our Financial Aid/Scholarship

opportunities for residents in need. A commitment to becoming a Friend simply consists of attending occasional

meetings, and a willingness to volunteer at our special events. If you’re passionate about our department and

would like to be a part of continuing to take Billerica Recreation to the next level, please let us know! Those with

perfect class. Each week your child will participate in stretching, obstacles, and games to help gross

Kids Test Kitchen (Ages 5-14)

Kids’ Test Kitchen is on a mission to get young aspiring chefs cooking, tasting, and thinking about healthy
ingredients! Working as a team, we’ll slice, dice, peel, measure, and cook until we’ve prepared the
finished dish! Lessons are planned to celebrate seasonal produce—warm you on a brisk Fall day and offer
ideas for quick and healthy family meals. At the end of each week, your chef will receive the main
ingredient, sample of the finished dish, and the recipe to make at home! Participation is expected, but
tasting the food is always optional.

Kids Intro to Boxing (Ages 6-14)

Many children are picking up the sport of boxing. Training in boxing will not only improve the body, it will
improve the mind. The class will use heavy bags; focus mitt training and boxing combinations.
Conditioning is also a large focus of the program. The kids will learn how to slip and avoid punches. The
focus on technique, form, conditioning, power, speed, timing, coordination and balance will be
emphasized. All contact will be practiced using protective shields, pads, focus mitts and heavy bags led by

(Formerly Yogalates Stretch & Strengthen). This is a high-intensity, low impact practice of yoga to
improve strength & flexibility. The class will combine basic planks, squats, and balance moves to music.

Boston Holiday Pops

beyond our control. If the tour/trip cannot be not provided, the Recreation Department will refund the amount
